What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

When coming to Georgetown there wasn't anything in particular I feel that I didn't know. The moment that you think, "Hey maybe GC is the place for me." THe admissions team gets you well on your way. The school lets you know everything you need to know. You can do overnight stays with students and even attend classes to get the feel. Also before school actually starts there are workshops for incoming students and their parents, which will tell them all they need to know, and allows them to ask questions.

I wish I had known Georgetown College was a commuter school. On weekends there are very few students on campus and the activities for the students left are few and far between.

I wish my high school had helped me develop better study skills. My freshman year was very intense in learning how the read, analyze, and summarize materials. All students getting ready to graduate high school should spend as much time as possible reading and honing these skills to be used when they enter college. While the professors at Georgetown are always ready to help a student, the student must put forth their own efforts to study and research the materials provided and found in order to fully grasp the subject matter being taught.
