What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Lisa

No matter what anyone tells you about the future and what you "should" do. The decisions you make have to be your own. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and go to a 4 year college right out of high school, because my parents would have paid for the whole thing. But if I did that so many things in my life would be different. I wouldn't have met my husband, got my 2 dogs, or bought our 1st home. I wouldn't have the expirience I got from working one on one with the owner of a small pharmacy. I've been there for 8 years and the things I did there, and the people I met will be with me forever. It also helped me decide what to go to school for, which I spent almost 10 years figuring out. If I would have done what everyone wanted or expected me to do, I would have wasted a lot of time and money going to school for something I wouldn't be happy doing. So make sure, whatever your decision, that it comes from you and no one else.

Don't take on too much! Relax, and do everything in moderation. Banance is everything. Have a secondary plan in place that is just as good as your first, and just as practial. Don't get upset if some things don't work out- things do happen for a reason, and you need to keep your eyes open to that. Be a good person and do the right thing always. Treat others how you wish to be treated- you never know who you will run into later. Work hard in everything you do. You can never go wrong if you put in all the effort possible. Live, love, work, and be yourself.

Take more time in learning how to do scholarships and where you can find scholarships. Take more time in figuring what you want to do with your life rather than slacking. If I had taken more core classes I would not been paying so much for school now since I now know what I want to do!!

One thing that i would want to share with every prospective college student is that they should choose their major fields of study according to their natural instincts rather than looking at potential earnings in different professions. In the end, it is the personal satisfaction of accomplishing something that gives happiness, not the numbers in bank accounts.

I f I were to go back and give myself some advice, I would tell myself that I should shoot for the community colleges. Also, that going to school online is not bad at all, either. I would tell myself to go for schools in other states, so I could travel and also, not apply for such hard schools to get in. I would advise myself to stay in a college with dorms to make friends for life and have a better sense of independence.

I would tell myself that I should focus on what it is that I love to do in life which is work on computers and apply to the college that best suits my needs for that goal. I would also advise myself to follow my heart and dreams and go for the stars and reach new heights. I would tell my past self to push harder and be smarter, to do well in classes and push forward and to never give up. I would also remind myself that I can earn a degree and I will be able to get a great career.

If I can go back in time there's not much I would tell myself, everything I expected about college and what it would be is what it is. It's great and I would not change anything.
