The school does much more for the engineers than for the other majors

The worst thing that I consider is that the parking is annoying. There isn't much parking that is open for students and it can be a problem. My car is parked about a mile away and it can be a drag to get my car from such a far distance. Overall, there is not many bad things about Iowa State.

The worst thing about my school is that is gets really really cold in the winter time. This isn't good because then you will most likely to skip classes and then get behind

I always find it hard to mention a bad thing about Iowa State University. The worst thing about ISU to me, is the fact that it is so expensive, every detail about the college is very expensive, from the books, to the meals, and even the dorms. It is very hard for me to keep up with all the expenses that need to be paid to stay in college. To me, the worst thing about ISU is that it is so expensive

Only being at Iowa State for a semester, I haven't found anything wrong with the school. The only thing I could possibly think that could be bad is the fact that it is in a small town in the middle of Iowa. Coming from a larger suburb, the change in scenery is quite refreshing.

I think that the worst thing about my school is the size of the campus. The campus is huge. This is a concern for me because my dorm is on one side of the campus while all my classes are on the other side, so I have a long walk to class every day. There is the option to take a bus, but I would rather walk. I love the campus, I just wish that it was more compact and everything was closer together. This isn't a major problem, just a small concern because my school is pretty great.

The only thing that I can consider the worst part about Iowa State University is the cost. The campus is great, staff is great, and students are great., but the cost can really hinder some students dreams. I come from out of state and like many families, am struggling to pay for my college career. There are plenty of scholarship opportunities offered but I still think the cost can seem a bit high.

I think the worst thing about my school is its location. Rexburg is very cold and windy and more cold. Also Rexburg is a small town. There are not a lot of things to do here. Also, because there are so few choices here, everything is expensive.

The worst part about the school is the atrocious recycling program. There are signs all over the place that say "Live Green", but honestly you can't find a recycling bin if you tried. It's absolutely unacceptable.

I am and out of state student and It is almost impossible to get a scholarship to pay for this school

I feel that there is no bad things about the school,only average to really good. The only thing would be the harsh winter which there isn't anything which can be done.

The worst thing about my school is that it is two and a half hours away from my husband and my family.

The worst thing about my school would have to be the weather! In the summer months you get the real heat and in the winter u get the real feet (snow!)

When my parents went to Iowa State Ames was a lively place but over the years it has definitely digressed to just another small town in Iowa. As well as the fact it is in Iowa and since I am attending college in state I feel like I haven't seen as much of the world as I would have hoped to have seen by 19 years old.

The worst thing about my school is that it is far away from my hometown, so I am unable to visit as frequently as I want.

Although I enjoy so many things about Iowa State, the one thing that I would change if I could was the amount of money that design students pay compared to engineering majors. Engineering is a really good prgram at Iowa State, so all of the computer programs and most of the supplies are paid for by the college. I do understand why this is, because they have a good department with a lot of students that work very hard for their education. The design program is just the same, except the fact that they pay for all their prgorams.

The worst thing about ISU is the professors. They aren't very helpful and a good amount of them don't speak good english.

For me it is the expectations for Design Students. Often students in the college of design are required to work much longer hours than many other majors. It is not uncommon to work 15 hour days in the college of design. This fact makes it very difficult to hold a job outside of classes which only makes the finacial standing that much more difficult.

Inavailability to be registered in some classes.

There are many positive aspects about my school; yet, the downside about my University is that we are in the middle of nowwhere and in order to go places we need to drive around thrity to forty minutes. Another aspect about my school that i do not like is how my school's interent is usually very slow and has blocked certain websites causing us to use only the websites they think are appropriate.

Some classes are unavailable when needed so I have to wait until the next semester or two more to take the class.

Being at Iowa State University for a whole year now, it is very hard for me to come up with the "worst thing" about my school. Iowa State is an amazing university with a beautiful campus, teachers who care, and opportunities for all types of students. However, if I had to pick one thing about the university that was the worst, it would be the affordability of dining. The dining system charges you for so many meals and extra dining dollars that you never use. They overcharge for what students actully use.

Increasing tuition

The high level of international students make for a strange cultural gap within the student body. While most Indian students integrate exceptionally well and are counted amongst my close friends, a great deal of Chinese internationals come into the community with limited English language skills and keep to themselves. This is most evident within my engineering classes, where I sometimes feel like I am the foreigner.

The worst thing, in my opinion, is the overflow of incoming students every fall. Iowa State University just had a record-breaking year for number of incoming freshmen, and they are predicting another record year for 2012-13. Good for them, but the dorm halls fill up quickly. This forces other students to move off-campus, and Department of Residence gets bombarded with complaints and requests for places to live. My recommendation is more for Iowa State University; build more dorm halls. To prospective students, I recommend that they get on-campus housing figured out and signed off right away.

The worst thing about Iowa State is often having professors or teachers' assistants who do not speak English as cleary as I'd like and are sometimes hard to understand.

I would have to say the food variety and the freshness of their produce once in a while. The dining centers usually rotate the same food every two weeks, the lettuce is sometimes wilted and brown, and the cooked veggies are mushy. Other than that Iowa State is like any other collge I have heard about. There are fun classes and horrible classes, awesome professors and horrible professors.

The worst thing that I have found at the university so far has been the unnecessary pulling of fire alarms during the night that occured during the first week and as I have been told has occured during finals week. However, this is probably something that would be found at most universities.

Parking availability is not very good here and the teachers for the generals education classes needs to be improved.

The worst thing about the school is the late three hour labs, it makes people have to pull a late night even though they have a early eight o clock class the following morning.

It is quite a large school. At first, you feel a bit lost and forgotten, but as you become more aquainted with campus and the University it gets better. There are so many clubs, organizatons, programs, etc. that it is almost too overwhelming. I guess that these "worst" things about Iowa State really are positives once you get familiarized with them.

The worst thing that I would consider about my school would have to be its location. Unfortunately it is almost three hours away from my hometown. At first it was really hard from me to be away from my family but I have learned to deal with the distance. It also isn’t the biggest town with not a lot to do like most college towns but that can come as an advantage as well.

After pondering this question, I really cannot think of a bad thing about this school. The people are great, classes are awesome, and opportunities are endless. If I had to choose a worst thing about the school it would have to be the weather. During the winter it can be a very cold experience walking to class.

The Cyclones. I have always grown up a Hawkeye fan and so it was against my nature to come to their rival school, but I believe that Iowa State really was the best fit for my small town lifestyle.

I love everything about Iowa State University and I wouldn't change anything!

the worst thing about the school is the surrounding area. it is iowa so there is not much to do outside of the unviersity but the school is making tremendous efforts in changing this.

The only negative side to Iowa State is the parking. Sometimes it is tough to find good spots, because there are so many students. You also have to be independant and disciplined, because you are the only one to manage yourself.

The worst thing about my school is how they make you take lots of 101-type courses during your first year. It adds to the already overpearing pressure of getting used to college.

Sometimes professors are really good at research and less well-developed for teaching

I would consider the worst thing at this school to be how high the price is for out of state students. I almost wasn’t able to attend Iowa State because the tuition was so high and I didn’t have much financial support from my parents. It’s hard to receive scholarships and I didn’t want to have to take out loans unless I absolutely had to. Unfortunately I was forced to take out a loan for my second semester freshmen year and I will have to continue to do so until I have finished my education.

The worst thing about school is keeping motivated and being financially strained. A successful student in today's time must be financially savy and focused on the investment of their future. It is easy to get distracted from school because of all the daily influences. There is nothing bad about school; there is only the stress that results from it.

The size is a bit overwhelming and I wish people were more friendly

The wrost thing about Iowa State would be the lack of a nice campus nightlife area. This is not the Universities fault, more the city of Ames'.

The worst thing about my school is the availability of parking on campus. If you have to commute onto campus from your home it is very inconvenient to find adequate parking.

While most teachers are very qualified and enthusiastic and of different races, there are countless that are impossible to understand when they speak. I understand that they are educated in their subject, but it's very difficult to grasp a subject when you can't decipher what the teacher is saying. I have friends who feel the same way, mainly in the school of business, but I'm in journalism and we too have teachers who are diffucult to understand.

During the summer, there is really nothing to do besides work and take classes. The school is kind of like a ghost town. Plus everything shuts down early. Even the sit down restaurants and fast food places shut down early.

I would say the worst thing about Iowa State is the wind...Not much to complain about! The school itself is great and provides so many opportunities for students to get involved, which is great since Iowa State has a pretty large student population!

Many of the classes you need to take are full and you cannot get into them.
