Ithaca is stereotyped a few different ways, depending on how you look at it. From one angle, it is a hippie school, full off kids who smoke pot and kind of slack off. On the other hand are the jocks-usually sprorts management majors, who party hard and don't have a very tough course load. Finally, Ithaca is known as a strong music school, specifically for music education.

Ithaca as a whole is typically seen as a liberal, "enlightened" community. The school and its surrounding city are seen as full of independent thinkers and a throwback to the 60s in many regards. Likewise, Ithaca is seen as full of potheads.

Ithaca has a rep of being a weed/drug town infested with hippies. The students at Ithaca I guess could be stereotyped as hippies because of this, although there is a wide variety of groups of kids on this campus.

I think it depends. If you're comparing IC students to Cornell students, the stereotype is that we aren't as smart. In general, I think IC students are stereotyped to either be rich and preppy or hippies. It's an Ithaca stereotype that everyone smokes weed. Also, there isn't much diversity at IC.
