I attended LSSU all four years of my undergrad, lived on campus for two, and was involved in regular extracurricular. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a school that values majors other than engineering and science you're looking in the wrong place. The vibe is that the school is drifting more and more towards being a trade school as they keep cutting arts funding and many majors including: public relations, communications, theatre, and more.

I personally really enjoy Lake State! It's a small knit community. Even in the winter when it starts to get pretty cold out usually we'll find something to do. Not to mention, most people are non-judgemental and everyone is out and about having a good time especially on the weekends. In the end there's a spot for everyone here there's plenty of outdoor activities as well as some fun across the border in Canada!

Mackenzie

From a student not knowing the existence of the school before coming here and now attending my overall opinion is very high only after a couple of weeks. Although the school is run down in some areas do to the previous use being a miliatry fort its has high standards.

Lake Superior State University is a very nice university to attend if you are looking for a small campus and small class size. However, it does have its trade-offs. Some of these trade-offs are that classes are only offered during certain times of the day, professors are usually busy teaching and not have a ton of office hours, and the dorm rooms are pretty small. However, their small class sizes, small campus, and the ability for you to know you professor on a personal level makes it worth going here.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I have gotten so much from my college experience at LSSU. I have met so many new people and made a lot of lifelong friends. I have had so many fun times at school. I have become a much stronger and independent person since I've come to college. I do things that I feel is right for me. I have learned so much about myself also. I have learned I am a shy person and it takes a bit for me to warm up to people. I have also learned that I can do anything I put my mind to. I have also learned so much academically. I took 17 credits my first semester. It was quite a load but I learned how to manage my time between studying and having fun. I would never take back my freshman experience at LSSU. I have met a lot of great people and have learned so much about myself.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school would probably be the lack of fun. When i hear about other schools they have way more fun than we do. Dont get me wrong our campus sponsers many events but they are not the kind of events that everyone is extremely excited about. If it wasnt for hockey oue school would most likely suck in the category of social life.
