I attended LSSU all four years of my undergrad, lived on campus for two, and was involved in regular extracurricular. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a school that values majors other than engineering and science you're looking in the wrong place. The vibe is that the school is drifting more and more towards being a trade school as they keep cutting arts funding and many majors including: public relations, communications, theatre, and more.
I personally really enjoy Lake State! It's a small knit community. Even in the winter when it starts to get pretty cold out usually we'll find something to do. Not to mention, most people are non-judgemental and everyone is out and about having a good time especially on the weekends. In the end there's a spot for everyone here there's plenty of outdoor activities as well as some fun across the border in Canada!
From a student not knowing the existence of the school before coming here and now attending my overall opinion is very high only after a couple of weeks. Although the school is run down in some areas do to the previous use being a miliatry fort its has high standards.
Lake Superior State University is a very nice university to attend if you are looking for a small campus and small class size. However, it does have its trade-offs. Some of these trade-offs are that classes are only offered during certain times of the day, professors are usually busy teaching and not have a ton of office hours, and the dorm rooms are pretty small. However, their small class sizes, small campus, and the ability for you to know you professor on a personal level makes it worth going here.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lake Superior State University is 90%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I have gotten so much from my college experience at LSSU. I have met so many new people and made a lot of lifelong friends. I have had so many fun times at school. I have become a much stronger and independent person since I've come to college. I do things that I feel is right for me. I have learned so much about myself also. I have learned I am a shy person and it takes a bit for me to warm up to people. I have also learned that I can do anything I put my mind to. I have also learned so much academically. I took 17 credits my first semester. It was quite a load but I learned how to manage my time between studying and having fun. I would never take back my freshman experience at LSSU. I have met a lot of great people and have learned so much about myself.
The worst thing about my school would probably be the lack of fun. When i hear about other schools they have way more fun than we do. Dont get me wrong our campus sponsers many events but they are not the kind of events that everyone is extremely excited about. If it wasnt for hockey oue school would most likely suck in the category of social life.
Lake Superior State University is located in the frigid Upper Peninsula of Michigan, most people don't even know the area exists.
LSSU is known for the small class sizes and personal relationships between professors and students. Most professors are easy to get ahold of for questions or just for coffee. The campus is small enough that walking between classes is not a problem. Our hockey team is wonderful, currently 4th in our conference.
It was close to home.
My classmates are diverse and very intelligent individuals who are very goal oriented.
Anyone could attend this school and do well. It takes all different types of students to make a university what it is.
I wish I had known just how small the school was. Also, I wish I had known the extent of the food variety (there isn't much).

that where it is located is extreamely cold. and that they do not offer many masters degrees.
Professors address me by my first name. They are very casual and approachable. My major is Criminalistics with a minor in psychology and chemistry. This major requires a significant amount of studying, which my professors help me with when needed. All professors here at Lake State have what we call "Office Hours". Each professor makes themselves available to students during these office hours for any help or questions we might have.
We have several Student groups on campus. Most commonly joined groups consist of the Greek organizations, student government, SIFE, Activities Board and several others. If there isn't a group that a student wants to join, that's ok! Lake State allows students to create any group or club they want.
Private, but public school. Nice community and friendly oriented.

there are unique sports that i never knew existed. its right on the border or canada and really close to the international bridge so you can see it in class which is really neat.
