MTSU study body is a good size, about 25,000. It is a very diverse group. Most of the students commute to school which is a hassle for parking and kind of sad of the weekends but it's cool. All of the students seem to interact well.

Borderline retarded, racist, homophobic, uncultured vapid stupid and homogeneous. Guys, if you don't like scrawny blondes with beady little eyes with names like Ashley, Brittany, Whitney, etc., don't come here. Girls, if you don't like fratty dickwads, hicks in monster trucks or wanna-be hipsters, consider a better alternative. There are MANY. I'm here for graduate school. I received my Bachelor's degree from a top ten private liberal arts college that cost a shit ton of money. I was able to attend based on my generous scholarships and a heaping helping of student loans. There were A LOT of wealthy kids there. But they were smart. The only thing worse than smart rich kids are STUPID rich kids. And they abound here. I've never seen so many BMWs, Audis, Hummers, Lexuses and titanic monster trucks in my life. And they're all piloted by people who have enough money to go to whatever school they desire, but they're too STUPID to get in to good schools. In fact, most of these people wouldn't know a GOOD school if it jumped up and bit 'em in the ass.

Students here at MTSU are a pretty diverse group. There are multiple religious, political, and ethnic groups on campus and they all appear to be pretty active. There are also groups that are centered around recreational activities and intellectual interests. Jeans and t-shirts are pretty standard student wear, but not exclusively. Lots of people prefer to express themselves through their attire which creates a nice, usually very colorful, mix. Lower to Upper Middle class is the general financial background. The opportunities here for a good education with the help of state funding make MTSU appealing to students who need a little financial help to go to college.

Anna

I would not suggest going to MTSU if you are at all liberal. I felt very out of place. The only people who fit in are white christian middle class jock types. Be prepared to be pestered by christians and pro-lifers handing out pamphlets. Good luck if you're gay.

Amber

No student would feel out of place at MTSU. I believe that they had enough diversity that anyone could find something they liked or an organization they liked and fit into. A majority of students just wear normal every day American clothes, such as jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. I think that a majority of students are polictically aware, but some are not. There are clubs and organizations that help with that such as the Democrats and Republicans at school. The financial background does not matter. MTSU is pretty good when it comes to the cost of tuition. Of course it is going to increase, but it is still pretty average. As an out of state student I believe that they did very well with the cost of tuition. It wasn't completely out of the ordinary. Different types of students interact with other students. There is no such thing as a click. You will find all types of people talking with everyone else. It's not like high school where you had a lot of people just talking and staying within their groups. The four tables at the dining hall with students are really the same. You have people that have common interest sitting together, but they let other people in. Even if they don't dress like you, I believe that people still except you. People at MTSU are really laid back and talk to just about everyone.

Steven

MTSU has a very diverse array of student organizations with I believe over 200 organizations. If you are into it there is an organization for it. Outside of organizations, students usually mostly interact with other students within their colleges.

Kelly

There's alot of us

KJ

The student body is very diverse but my only complaint is that people are quick to group up. I think because the campus is so big and the student body so mixed, people tend to stick to what is familiar instead of taking the chance and the risk to step outside of their comfort zone. But for those that are willing to use college for all that its worth, theres always someone from just about anywhere that you can meet.

Jamie

The student body is very supportive! They are always excited about new opportunities! All students interact at school and in the classroom. The eating facilities are always packed with students conversing and having a great time.

Jody

Like I said in the previous question, student life is prominent. If one chooses to go to this school, than social interaction is bound to occur. It is just going to happen! As far as our financial range goes? We are all in college... do you think we have money coming out of our orifices? I can tell you where our finances lay, not in our wallets that is for sure. Though, personally I always manage to scavenge the change for that chicken sandwich in the afternoon.

Ashley

i think everyone is really friendly for the most part. i'm not sure who would feel out of place becuas there is a little bit of everyone here. yeah all different types of people react. most of the students here come from tennessee. i have no idea about the backgrounds of the political views!

Jessica

I believe our campus is very diverse. but also very opionated. Greek life struggles on our campus when it should be thriving and I think that is something that should be worked on and put a lot of focus on more student involvement in the campus. Most students are from tenn which is ok but I wish there was more diverseness within the school with students from other areas of the country

Alex

MT is comprised of the most diverse group of students than any other university in the state of TN. There is a wide variety of religions organizations on campus. Students can easily find something that would suit them. Student that do not like college would not like MT. Students dress how they want to dress. I have classes with students that wear suits and students that wear pajamas. Student Life is a common place where diverse students interact. With over 300 different organizations, "different students" can be brought together by a common interest. Four Table Groups: Athletes, Student Organizations at 3, and normal students interact with all. I don't notice any prevalence in financial backgrounds. There are students that are very active politically, students that keep up with current events, and apathetic. For the most part, students are aware. Politically, students are fairly balanced. Obviously, the louder groups are the far left and the far right. It is rare when I hear students talk about their monetary situations.

It is ineteresting that MTSU treats all students equal regardless of their race, relion, socio econimoc etc. No student will fill out of palce in MTSU unless the student decide to misplace him or herself. Most students wear blue clothers ranging from T shirts to jeans. Spring and early summer is the best month to Go BLUE. Students from different countries and races interact especially during class discussions or presentation. At the dining hall one table always go to the football palyer, the other to the students who like showing off and then the other two is split between the cool guys and international students. You will never know ones background, the fact that drive a fansy car and wear expensive jeans does not give them any credit to be rich or poor. We all belong to one class: the class of students. Students ar not very much into politics, that can even be seen when they are voting for the student leaders. Despite the school having a large number of students, there is a very low voter tun out. I think most of the students are neutral politically. Students are more aware of how much they earn, even some international students talk about moeney.

Erin

I cannot think of any student that would not fit in at MTSU. There are not protests all the time-everyone seems pretty laid back. Most are from Tennessee, but people come from all over for the Recording Industry and Aerospace programs. There are a lot of students hoping to be "discovered" in the Nashville scene, but not in an obnoxious way. We are just full of talented kids.
