If I could go back in time as a high school senior knowing what I know now, I would tell myself this, " David, I know that knowledge is a very wonderful and powerful tool to posses. Because of it, people have been saved from many ugly, hurtful situations that enter into a persons life. It is only through knowledge that we have so much goodness and that we are able to pull through just about any bad situation that arises in our life. I realize that for the next 33 years I am going to enjoy being an active alcoholic/drug addict; but, I now know that no matter what I go through in life, I will enjoy my life one hundred percent more if I aquire and retain knowledge about everything that has anything to do with the life of a human being. I know that college is a place where anyone can be taught this wonderful thing called knowledge and that at Mount San Antonio college I will recieve this knowledge in a kind and caring way from those who will be teaching me because the professors and councelors there go above and beyond merely wanting to help."

I would say to not be nervous. That was my biggest problem. As a senior in high school i was always thinking how im not going to know anyone at school and have no friends but it's not that way at all. Everyone is so friendly and easy to get along with. You will make plenty of friends and still stay in touch with your friends from high school. If they are you'r true friends, don't worry, because they are not going anywhere!

Kimberly

I didn't start college right away which made it really hard to get into the program of studying alot. If I could go back in time I would have started college right away and gotten my career going at a younger age.

I would tell myself not to stress about the small things because in the grand scheme of things, they don't matter. I couldn't attend a 4 year university right out of high school, but now I am taking the steps to ensure I will be able to transfer to a 4 year university as a transfer student.

Do your best always. Pay attention to everything and take in all you can about school, life and growing up. Be involved in school activities and enjoy every second because it does not last forever.

If you are the first person in your family to go to college, or if you aren't, but don't know anything about college, PLEASE spend the summer before your first semester learning everything you need to know about it. If you know about opportunities ahead of time, you'll be prepared. Find out about the programs (honors, etc), clubs, honorary organizations, contacts, and anything else that will help you throughout college. You're paying for it, so don't waste your time/resources. Last thing- find something that helps you relax (yoga, reading, sleeping, anything!) and make sure you remember to use it at times like finals week or registration time...you don't want to get too crazy!

I think that the value of hindsight is understated sometimes. I think that perhaps i would have taken every opportunity to explore, investigate new fields of studies for my major. I think i also would have started to read more about my options for as what i could decide as a major. Basically, i would have tried everything new and different for as classes in my senior year and perhaps i would have spoken more with my high school counselor's about college . I think that if i had done all this before college i would saved myself some time and perhaps have completed college much sooner and with a greater number of valuable experiences.

As a senior I always wanted to attend a 4 year college instead of a community college. But now that I have experienced a 2 year college, I feel that it has helped me tremendously in the transition process. If I could go back, I would strongly suggest attending a two year college first and later transferring. This will still give you the college experience without feeling overwhelmed with the pressures of a four year such as moving away from home and living in a new environment. Plus, it will save you a great deal of money which can be invested in other things and you won't have as many student loans to pay off in the future.

I will advise my self not to waist time and get prepare for it , use all the time that i have left and make personal changes to my life, college will not be the same as high school, change the perspective on how i look at my life, i will tell my self to change the havit of not finishing work in time, that onece i get out of high school and get in the new world of college it will change my self by having all this people that they dont know you but willing to help you in any situation that you may face. College will be a new challege to overcome but you will not be alone, your life will change for a good reason; achieve your goal. You will be a different person looking on your life and saying " I procrastinate my pass but i will achive my future" by helping and getting help from others, the only fact for achiving your goal is by not giving up on any challenge, face it lose/win learn from it and keep dreaming it will come true.
