What are the academics like at your school?

Alex

The Academics at Ohio Wesleyan challenge you to go above and beyond. The teachers are always happy when you have questions. This past year I took three sciences; Botany, Ornithology and Animals and their Environment, these courses were extremely challenging, they took extra time then the other majors due to long labs and large amounts of material. For Ornithology my teacher would invite the class on bird trips that were located around the state to see birds that weren't found in the local area. Education t OWU is first geared to the student finding what subject is right for him and then it switches to getting that student ready for a job.

Classes are where I have made 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of my friends at OWU. The class size is small and you must often work together. Because roll call is taken you learn names, and don't have to do the awkward, " I think your in my class,..whats your name?". The teachers are kind and understand that you have other things going on in life,..classes will be missed and homework will be forgotten. The classroom offers up a great way to get to know your self and your classmates through class participation and room for personal thought.

The professors here are VERY friendly, except for those required courses like english and math 105. My spanish teacher is AMAZING--she's one of my favorite people ever. On another note, not every academic apartment is strong. The ones that ARE strong are renowned for turning out very successful people. The sciences, for one, are OWU's best departments. Botany and Zoology are very popular. Other great ones are education, the arts, and psychology. The other departments, though, are definitely not as strong, and I wouldn't recommend majoring in them here. English, Humanities, History, etc. shouldn't be your first choice.
