I would advise myself to next time look deeper into the college that I choose. I would have also told myself to take advantage of the Advance Placement classes that were offered. These classes would have made me more aware of what kind of work college students were doin. I would have also tried to develope a way to study and stay focused, because college is mostly about reading on your own and studying.

Transitioning from a high school to a college is a major shift. View the situation as a positive experience in life and never be scared of a change. College provides opportunities that captivate academic experiences and social experiences. College seems like another dreaded four years of school with lot?s of financial debts, but one?s primary purpose in college is to achieve a higher education in a selected field of study. College is an experience that teaches many different aspects in life including independence from parents, social experiences that involved communication with peers, and college small taste of one?s potential in life. Sure it may cost lot?s of money and someone might be cramming their nose in books for another four years, but the benefits greatly outweigh the risks. College life is something that should be embraced with hard work and fun at the end of the day. The ultimate goal is to squeeze the best education out of the hard earn money that is being invested. With that said, college life is with out a doubt fun, but is also an experience that potentially builds a solid foundation for the individual?s future.

"Penn State is a great university, with a great reputation. However, even though you are going to the Schuylkill Campus someday you will be required to move on, to the main campus. The main campus is much larger I feel that you will be more suited to a smaller campus or a smaller school altogether. Study more for your physics and math courses they are very important elements of your major. Take the placement test very seriously it will determijne your academic starting point.."

The "College Experience" is a lot different from what I expected. If I could go back and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would definately try to prepare myself more by developing better study habits and by learning to be more independent. My first year at school, I faced a lot of challenges because I wasn't quite sure how to respond to certain situations, and i was use to being babied by high school professors, but now I can say I've really learned a lot and I feel like college is a big step towards living life in the "real world."

The advice that I would give myself is study, study, study and study. When finals come around you do not want to be the one that crams in your work right before the test, because usually it would not pay off in the end. What ever you do make sure you always stay on topic and never try to get distracted. What seems to happens when you do get distracted you forget what you was doing or you just either miss deadlines for assignments that are due. Stay away from peer pressure, because they will lead you in the wrong direction or either get you involved in things that you really don't see yourself doing. Do not do to much partying, because you have to realize that is not the main reason you come to college. Last advice I would give myself is make sure you make your parents proud, because with out them you wouldn't even be in college.
