Spring Arbor University Top Questions

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Jessica

My campus really emphasizes that its' students know about the world around us. They require us to take 5 CORE classes that explore religion, poverty, and other cultures. One of the classes is a three week trip called a Cross Cultural, this is one of the things that really drew me to SAU in the first place. That trip alone (I went to Guatemala) gave me an opportunity to see another culture I would have never otherwise had a chance to. I have had just as much real-world application as "book smarts" I think that it is more important to be world smart than book smart. SAU challenges its students to get out into our communities and make a difference, I have had numerous classes that require community service (CORE classes), and I think that this has given me a window of opportunity to look beyond my own stresses and workload, and see how I can help others and make a difference where ever I go.

I came to Spring Arbor University not exactly knowing what to expect. I come from a Christian family, so that played a role in my choice to attend a Christian university. I also came from a suburban town in southern Michigan, so I have not have much experience with diversity at all. Despite my close-minded background that I came from, SAU has opened my eyes to more than I could imagine. If I could sum up my experience at this school so far, I could use a single word: Awareness. Although I’m not attending a public college, I have been immersed into a sea of different beliefs, races, and personal backgrounds. Because there are fewer people who attend Spring Arbor, I have had the opportunity to meet people and carry on relationships for longer than a single encounter with them. I have heard countless life stories and have seen the differences between my background and others' backgrounds. Studying cultural awareness and learning about the problems of other counties around the world has taught me to appreciate this country and also desire to reach out to other nations in need. Spring Arbor University has made me aware.

My college experience so far has been very beneficial. I believe it is one of the best choices I have made to go back to school and complete my bachelor's degree. I have already learned so much and am eager to set forth in life long process of continuos learning. A college education to me is a privelge and I by no means take it forgranted. The cost of tuition is quite high, but I know that God will provide and help me to find a way to pay for college. He has enabled me to do so much with my life this far, I know he has a greater plan for the rest of my life. By completing my degree I will be better equipped to help those in my profession and also in my community. I love to help others and know with the right skills and education I can help make a difference.

I've discovered that college is a great oppurtunity for adults of all ages to truly discover what it is they want to do with their lives. Being surrounded by your peers all the time gives you a chance to focus on your passion, and opens up as many doors as the student is willing to go through.

Stephanie

What I have gotten out of my college experience is simple whatever I set my mind to I can achive . When I started college I did not know what to do what to expect, I was lost; what most students would learn from their brothers, sisters, cousins, family in general about college I did not. Since I am a first generation student it was hard for me to prepare for somethng no one around me had experienced before and at first it was hard trying to get into classes, doing the work moving around campus, talking to the professors:at some point I amost gave up but I knew I did not go this far to turn back so I pushed myself telling my mind I could get over this mountain of academics and so I did. I pushed hard to get good grades even to try to get into the honers program everthing I set my mind to I achived. In the end college is something I enjoy all the education I recive while attending will help meet new people and see knew things. College will also help me achive my greatest goal to become a neurosurgeon.

I've gotten to learn about different people, understand some foreign people ; this has been valuable because it prepares me for life after school, the world

Stephanie

Choosing the college for most people is really critical. This is where you get your foundation in life. Before I decided to attend SAU, I was planning on taking classes at a local community college and living at home. I soon began to realize I needed to experience the world with more independence. I have always felt deeply about making a difference in the world and that I have so much to give. I received an e-mail from SAU and I had one of those light bulb moments and decided this was the school for me. Almost exactly a year later and I still hold true to that statement. In only four months of school, I have learned so much about myself and the world. My confidence has sky rocketed and I absolutely love what I am learning. I experienced so many struggles, but they were worth it because I know I am a better person. Looking back on my previous decision to attend LCC, I wonder what I would be like and how my life would be different. It is in that moment I realize I am so thankful for SAU and what God has taught me.

The greatest thing that I have gotten out of my college experiences is my friends so far and all the memories I have with them. Living on camput there is so many activites and events you can do. The other day my friends and I went to a basketball game then an outdoor activites event. At all the events here at college you have the opportunity to meet so many great people that can make your college experience great. Having a great time in college is so valuable because it makes all the nights staying up late to study for an exam or do homework worth it. Without all the memories and experiences I may not have got through my first semester as well as I did.

Prior to going to Spring Arbor Univeristy, I went to Lansing Community College. I have always been a 3.0-4.0 student because education is one of the most important things to me. At LCC I worked hard to get as many pre reqs. out of the way so I could find the right school. LCC couldn't provide me with 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the things i needed to get a real job and most of all get into an University. Although this was frustrating, I learned so much at LCC. Not only does college educate people with tools that they will use in the work place, but it also teaches you life skills. Learning how to budget time and money was one of the biggest ones. Being able to go to school is one of the most amazing things by itself. When I went through the process to get accepted at SAU I learned that without this education some of my dreams were not achievable. Their is no real value that one can place on education because the benefits are numerous. Without education I would not be able to live my dream.

My plan is to become an Elementary teacher. I am currently attending Spring Arbor University and my plan is to double minor in early childhood education and language arts. I have always wanted to be a teacher; it is my greatest passion. I love helping others and it would make me so happy to be a part of helping students succeed. I love kids and just being in the school atmosphere. Younger kids tend to like me very well, which is why I choose elementary. However, when I graduate from here I plan on having a degree that will allow me to teach kindergarten through eighth graders. By attending college iit has helped me to further my knowledge in becoming a great teacher in the future. I strive to do well and achieve my long range goal of becoming a teacher. Spring Arbor University has many classes, great professors, and lots of one on one help, to assist me in achieveing this goal. I absolutely love the university as well as the many amazing people I have met by attending Spring Arbor.

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that family is the most important thing in life. Being away at school for the first time this semester I've learned this quickly. College is truly a completely different world when your living on your own and don't have the comforts of home around you - it's up to you to be and create you own comfort and hapiness. Another important lesson I have gotten out of my college experience is that good relationships and contacts are important. While you're in college, you should always keep in mind the fact you don't know who knows who, who knows what, and how will people will react to certain things, etc. Therefore, an important thing you should learn is not to gossip ever, because you never know who will hear it or see you and you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or get a bad reputation. Similarly, you should always give a good impression to everyone because you never know who will be a future reference, or whose roommate knows Taylor Lautner and could possibly introduce you since you're both single, etc.

Rebecca

the first and formost attention getter for me when attending this college was the Faith based enviroment. All the professors and students are so loving and Christ like that you really have a sense of community and closeness here. I believe in coming here you do make friends that are for life because it is so easy for you to get that here. Everyone here is so nice and caring that if you need help or need prayer, the people are right there to help you. Another memorable time for me during my freshmen year at this college is the Core 100 class. This class is where you are placed with 15 other freshmen, an Instructor, and a PA, right from the start. This core group allows you to meet new friends that you can hang out with outside of class. The one trip that you take in thi class is called Cedar Bend. The whole point about this trip is to bring you and your core group closer as a team and to get closer to God and enjoy what he created. After this trip i was never the same person, i was changed for the better.

Sara

Going back to college as a 34-year-old, married, mother of four children has been like spinning plates in a circus act with the “Sabre Dance” playing in the background. However, nothing has been as rewarding as taking the challenge to finish my degree in Family Life Education. My four sons are able to watch me fulfill my dream of obtaining a bachelor's degree and then hopefully moving on to graduate school. The work has surely been intense, but I have eagerly devoured everything thrown my way. In the process of learning, I have found I love to simply learn; not only the information on assignments, but digging deeper and finding meaning in what I am doing. A whole new world has opened up, and I appreciate it now, more than I did as a high-school graduate. So, as I continue spinning plates, I am satisfied knowing I am doing what I love.

From my college experience, I have been able to interact with people of different cultures and learn with several different perspectives. This has helped me become a more well rounded individual. My professors teach in such a way that I learn about my class subjects from the Christian perspective, but I also learn about the other perspectives people have on the subject. For example, in psychology I learned about how different Christians view the study of psychology, and I also learned how different secular psychologists view psychology. Learning through different perspectives has helped me understand different sides of thinking and has helped me to think more in depth about what I learn. This has helped me form a more accurate worldview for myself. By going to Spring Arbor University, I have met people of many different cultures. Through this, I have learned more about different cultures and seen how they are different yet similar, in many ways, to my own. This has helped me have a deeper appreciation for people of all cultures. This lesson will be helpful to me all throughout life because I will always be meeting and working with people of different backgrounds than my own.

Ana

I'm a freshman entering her spring semester, but just the fall semester taught me that I need to try my hardest and keep pushing through no matter what, something that can easily be applied to everyday life.

My college experience has, and continues to be, a wonderful chapter in the book of my life. I have learned a great deal of useful information inside and outside of the classroom. Being in college has taught me many things and instills in me perseverance, motivation, and determination. College is so valuable to attend because it lies down the foundation for a great future and a successful career. It is the key to many doors of opportunity. I plan on majoring in criminal justice and being in college allows me to do so. College will help me make all my dreams come true.

Megan

My college experience thus far has been very valuable to me. Attending SAU has given me the chance to start a new chapter in my life away from my parents and my hometown. It has helped me to become more independent and to realize areas that I need to grow and develop before I finish my education and live completely on my own. I came to SAU on a soccer scholarship and the experience I have had on the team has helped me tremendously and has been a large part of my life at college. Being on a soccer team is a large commitment and has taught me that hard work pays off. I came in on the lower end of experience compared to the rest of the team and therefore had my work cut out for me. This challenged me to work harder in the off season and become closer to the player I want to be. Through these attempts I have been successful with improvement and intend to have the same attitude toward my education at SAU. I still have much more to learn, but will tackle it with God at my side guiding me always.

My college career has been long and broken, spanning 2 decades and five schools. As I finally close in on my Bachelor degree, I can look back and see all that I have gotten from my college experience. As the first in my family to not only attend college, but (finally) graduate, the most important thing I have gotten from my college experience is confidence. Gaining confidence through my college experience has already improved my life and will continue to do so personally and professionaly. I have always avoided attention and disliked speaking, not only to groups, but to anyone I considered to be an authority figure. My stomach would be in knots, my hands sweaty, and my face red. I would speak as quickly and softly as possible and get out of the limelight. After many presentations in different classes, I began to relax. During my internship I have forced myself to speak to people I do not know, to network with those "authority figures" who used to intimidate me. By doing this I am now able to speak up for myself and more importantly, to advocate for others. I hope to empower others with my confidence.

Jodie

Throughout my years of being a college student I have learned a lot of valuable information. I have learned how to successfully complete things on a deadline for one. Secondly I have learned how to manage my time effectively. I have also learned how to find a balance between work, school, and family which is a lot of times very hard to do. I have also learned that I am capable of doing anything if I just put my mind to it and put all of my effort into things. Lastly I have taken away from these experiences how to interact and work with others in group and individual settings. These things are what have made me successful and have helped me to decide that I can go back to college to get my bachelor's degree.

Kai

College has opened my eyes to embrace not only new but different life experiences. I have been inspired by my professors and my class mates to challenge myself in ways that had never been presented to me before. I have been taught that the good things in life are worth fighting for and my education, for obtaining higher learning, has been a fight. There have been several times I have sat and pondered whether I should put my education on the back burner due to the life stresses that seemed to be overwhelming but after speaking to one of my professors and a classmate I knew I could not give in. Spring Arbor University is a Christian college that embraces all walks of life and encourages all students to learn from one another in order to obtain an understanding of different cultures and ultimately to gain a respect for those who appear to be different from what we are or accustomed to dealing with. Keeping an open mind to learning experiences in the classroom as well as outside the classroom has been one of the greatest values I have attained by attending this college.

One semester in college has flown by and I have already grown so much in many different ways. At my school, I feel a sense of place and belonging. The staff and students there are wonderful. I have made countless friends, some of which I have grown very close with. Academically, I have also grown. I did not expect to gain so much knowledge about several different subjects areas so quickly. This first semester of college has exposed me to many subjects areas and has made me more confident in my choice of major. It has helped me to realize that I know what I want, and am willing to work as hard as needed to get it. Another way that I have grown this semester is spiritually. Being at a Christian college, I have learned much more about God and am constantly exposed to the Bible. As a result of this, my faith has grown significantly. Overall, my college experience has greatly changed me. I am a stronger, more focused, and more spiritual person; and I am grateful for all of what I have gained.

A man named Elbert Hubbard said, “God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas, but for scars.” When I first started college, the most popular question was “what is your major?” Because of this I thought that college was all about getting my degree in education, but in reality it isn’t. College is not all about the degree you earn after working hard for four years. My first year of college allowed me to figure out who I wanted to be and taught me to be myself. I don’t need to be afraid of life or be strictly devoted to my schoolwork. I have learned that I need to take care of me and every aspect of me. I need to stay well-rounded and be a positive influence in others lives. Where did I learn this from? I learned this from the mistakes that I made and the risks that I took to step outside of my comfort zone. I don’t think that I could have done any of this without the help of Spring Arbor University. I believe that my experience at SAU will be the most valuable experience of my life.

Kelly

It has changed my life completely, I have grown up so much and found out who I am, I am learning so much education wise and feel like I now know what it really means to be an adult on your own.

Justin

What i have gotten out of my college experience is what i put into. Spring Arbor is a very conservative Free Methodist schools and most students take for granted what others never had. There are constant complaints about things like food, and resources that is scarce in urban areas but students fail to see thier priviledge in these situations. So, to escape the "bubble", I spend my time in Jackson where i volunteer with Shelters to get a sense of reality and ideas to change others lives. Also, i believe its fair to note that diversity at this school is non-existent and while adminstrators claim they are working on the problem, the situation is comparable to digging holes in sand. I say this to say that students do not retent because adminstrators fail to offer them any activities that do not isolate them from the group. Also, the teachers fail to be diverse as many of my professors are ethnically unison. I say this not to bash my school but as a way to voice my unheard opinion to a few that might actually make this school live up to its full potential.

Amanda

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that I have found a since of relationship with my God. When I first came to my school I wasn't sure about how much things would change, I was closed off and a bit scared. But after being here I feel more home then I have ever been. God has reached to my heart and pulled me closer to him. Words cannot express how great of a feeling that is. To feel that all around you. I have been called by my Lord to come here to Spring Arbor and be transformed. It has been a valuable to attend this school because I am forever changed by this school and all that has happened here. My relationship with my Lord is so much better, I don't feel closed off from the world because of the friends I have made here. They have shown me true friendship and helped me in my worst times, without them I would be no were. I feel as though God brought me here to Spring Arbor for a reason, and though I might not know the reason, it has been vauable to attend.

Stephanie

During my first semester in college I have grown so much. Not only am I more secure in my faith, but I am more confident in myself. I believe that a college education is a key part of a persons life. The benefits of coming to Spring Arbor are endless. I am getting a quality CChristian education while starting my adult life and slowly becoming completly non-dependant on my parents. Coming to college as allowed me to realize that I will be able to live and thrive on my own.

Veronica

What I have gotten from my college experience is an opportunity to grow and mature as a person. I have learned to become independent personally and professionally. This is valuable to me because I know that I am a person that will have a positive impact on my community. Second, I have also gone farther school wise than any other member in my family. This value it important because I am an example to younger generacion in my family so they can continue and finish their education. Finally, I have gained so much knowledge and experience from my college education. This value is important because it has given me the confidence to suceed in the career of social work.

Chelsea

My college experience has been a amazing rollercoaster. As a college student your are obviously bound to have some struggles along the way but this hasn't stopped me to keep on with my studies as a fashion merchandise major. Without attending college I think i probably would've just been working at a regular clothing store making minimum wage struggling as a citizen. Knowing that I'm preparing myself for my future as an independent individual is scary but pretty amazing! This is why I believe attending college is important, because it'll bring marvelous opportunities for myself in my career. My name is Chelsea Almanzar and college will put me on the rising chair of fashion merchandise throughout the globe.

mariah

College has been such a value to me because in my family many people chose not to take that step to success instead they chose to just make it by. I feel accomplished just for making it this far when so many havent. College for me is a threshold and on the other side is tons of opportunities. My education to me is what will set me apart from all the other people in this world who have chosen other paths to walk in their lives. Because of college i have matured and grown into a more intelligent and functional classmate. I have been blessed in many ways but being able to experience an environment full of people trying to reach the same goals as me has truly made my journey worth while.

Morgan

College is a way for my to discover who I am and build on that. It will allow me to do things things I want to do with my life: travel, write, serve people. I have discovered more about who I am and how I function with others. I would not have learned things had I not been placed in thie environment. I am challenged to improve.

Melissa

Over the past several years, I never really valued my education. I attened community college here and there; dropped and withdrew from courses left and right never taking school seriously. But in the fall of 2010 my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child and because of my son my thoughts of finishing my education has changed dramatically. I now view my education as a way to provide a better lifestyle for my son; because my life no longer revolves around me, but my son. I want to be the best role modle for him and that begins with finishing college. My sons future is the reason why school is so valuable to attend, and I never really viewed education that way. My college experience is so much more purposeful now, every class is something new to teach him and show him. The ability to provide a stable future for my family is so very important to me and my college experience allows me to do that for them.

I came to Carthage this year a freshman without any real expectations of college life. I knew my main goal was to get an education, but I soon learned that college is much more than just an acedemic education. College is also a time to learn about independency, self-providing, and to gain social skills that will help in the work place. The first couple months of college life was a little difficult for me I admitt, but I learned a lot about myself. By becoming independent, I learned how to make the right desicions for myself and also provide for myself. I realized that I needed to start thinking about providing the necesities for myself. I have also joined the track and field team at Carthage and I participate in the Habitat for Humanity club. In both of these organizations, I have adapted to handle a variety of social situations. I gained the skills to get along with others, specifically through Habitat for Humanity. I have done a multitud of volunteer work. In track I have gained the inner strength to give my best at all times. Even throughout difficult situations. I have learned to strive, overcome, and achieve.

Although I am only in the beginning stages of my college career, my time at this school has already begun to mold my future. I have been challenged to pursue dreams that seemed unattainable even just a few years ago. The professors in my department strive to make these first few semesters as valauble as years of experience in the career field. In my first month as a freshman, I was asked by two seniors and the department chair to attend an Associated Press College Media conference. This immediately connected me to upperclassmen and a member of faculty, as well as students and faculty at other schools. This opportunity helped me shape my ideas for my education, and was an excellent learning opportunity. Furthermore, my involvement in communications activities on campus gave me some advantages when I sought internships. However, college has not just influenced me academically: it has had an immense impact on my behavior and personality. The school I attend has a strong focus on personal and spiritual development, and I can feel it working in my life. I feel that college is more than just an institution of learning: it is an institution of lessons and value.

Madeline

My college experience has opened up my eyes to a different way of learning. It has created passions in me for learning, for helping others, and for being involved. I came into college not knowing what I wanted to study or what I wanted to do with my life, and now I am a year away from graduating and I am beyond excited to get into my career field. I have learned internal values, like responsibility and hard work and self-motivation. I have learned how to work better with people, when to compromise, and how to not let perfectionism get the best of me. I am learning how to be a leader. Being at Spring Arbor has brought me closer to God and revolutionized my views about worship. My college experience has not only taught me lessons in the classroom; I have learned more about myself, what I value, and the importance of other people than I ever imagined I would.

Rubiel

During the time I have been in collage I have learnd many thing one Is how to give back to the community in a fun a affective way. I have also learned to be more responsible for what I do, and who I associate with. Collage has definitely opened my eyes to what the real world is like.

Veronica

My experience at Panola College, thus far, has been very rewarding. I graduated high school over a decade ago, but after a divorce and years in the work force , I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in business. I am ambitious about college because I am the first in my family to attend. I have a strong desire to set an example for my children, in hopes that they may acknowledge the importance of a college education, and follow in my footsteps. I chose Panola College for a number of reasons, in which one was because it is local and convenient; therefore, I did not have to change where my children attended school. However, I was convinced after researching the college, visiting the campus, and meeting with instructors, who seem to be very helpful and considerate of the hardships some students may incur. The administration department assisted in making the enrollment and registration process seem less stressful. I look forward to the future semesters at Panola College and even more so to graduating with an Associates Degree in Business. I believe that once I achieve this goal, I will be ambitious about pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Rebecca

Begining college in the fall of 2006 was an escape from the life I had always known. As the years progressed, I began to realize the best way to prepare for life is to begin to live it outside what is comfortable. Suddenly, the small country girl who had never left the state of Michigan was taking on whole countries and free to begin work within the recreation field. College prepared me to be a person of confidece; someone others would want to hire and trust within a field. In Greece, I learned perseverence and team building as I spent a month studying archaeology, ancient studies, and climbing mountains. Strong leadership and communication skills, solution oriented problem solving ability, and a passion for working with children are also important skills I obtained in college. Many of these skills will become aids as I take on future roles in Child and Family Development. I have discovered that what was once important no longer matters and new adventures are out there to be discovered. I would have the same experiences again, because although experiences do not create the person, they shape who he/she will become in the end.

Kieran

The college experience has given me the ability to see myself in the larger picture of the world. With fellow students and professors collaborating to make the world more interesting and meaningful, I have learned to trust and maintain a positive insight into the world around me. Education is the foundation of knowledge and without continuous learning, one can make no progress to society. Through my college experience I have learned the value of value, that is, the value of the learning process. Making mistakes and failing at tasks has given me the opportunity to be confident in my field and class. Thanks you

Bryan

I have gotten a new perspective on life through my college experience so far. It has given me a small taste of what life has to offer and has shaped me religiously and morally. God has done a lot to grab ahold of my life and change me for the better. It has also shaped my responsibility. I have always thought of myself to be a responsible person but college is adding even more responsibilities on top of what I had before and is teaching me a lot.

Kylie

I have gained quite a bit from my college experience already. I have made friends, learned more about my field of study and grow spiritually throughout my time at Spring Arbor University. I know that the people I've met here and the friends I've made will stay with me throughout the rest of my life. The knowledge I've gained from professors and classmates have already begun to benefit me as I prepare to have my own classroom in a few short years. My faith has been strengthened because of all the wonderful people I've met and the chapels SAU has. Choosing to come to SAU was the best choice I've ever made and definately worth every minute and every penny!

Lloyd

After coming to Spring Arbor University for a year and a half, I have learned many things about myself and I have grown as a person. One thing that I learned about myself was that I have a passion to learn new things. I also realized how much I valued education and my desire to be wise. In my middle school and high school years I had no drive to learn and did not care much about education and school. I viewed both education and school as a waste of time and my effort matched my views on that matter. It was not until I came here to Spring Arbor that my views changed. Something that I have received from my college experience is better social skills. Before attending Spring Arbor University I was a shy and quiet person. I would always keep to myself and would rarely approach people. In the middle of my first year at this University I felt like I had transformed into a different person. I am more outgoing and very comfortable with my social skills, giving me more confidence in everything that I do.

Jonathan

From this college experience I have been able to gain wisdom. When I first arrived on campus I had the belief that I would be able to ease through every class and when that did not happen, I quickly developed poor study habits. Contrary to popular belief, all-night studying really is not helpful. Coming to a point where I truly felt helpless was not the greatest feeling in the world, but I was able to learn from others about the importance of time management. I commute five days a week and usually work over 20 hours a week, so my time management became abysmal. I could not find a balance between school, work, and spending time with those I cared most for. However, it was because I listened to others' advice, that I was able to develop better time management abilities. It has been valuable to attend college because of the relationships I have been able to build. By building these relationships, I truly believe that I myself will be able to grow as a person. It has been really exciting to know that these relationships truly will last a life time!

Sharlyn

The only time I attended college was at my local community college for Running Start. There, I was surrounded by all ages who wanted to learn as much as I did. I was able to learn and understand from my more mature classmates. Though classes were longer than typical high school classes, I liked how it wasn't five days a week. I was treated as an adult and was assisted when needed from my classmates and faculty. I was learning a lot more due to my surroundings of serious learners. At high school, everyone slacked and was treated like children. Our curriculum at the college was challenging but gives you the breath of success. I was nervous that I would fail due to the fast transition from high school to college, but I realized that it was the best choice I've made. I did wonderfully in all my challenging classes despite all the stress and pressure. I proved to myself that I can overcome these obstacles. That college, is what is needed for my next step.

Allie

I have found my true identity, and I love it!

Maria

My college experience so far has been incredible. It is a big jump from high school. To me college is a valuable thing since it is the way to a better future. Also, I set an example for my younger brother who at first did not want to go to attend any college. To him he sees that it is possible for anyone to get ahead and attend college.

Michael

Its been said that knowledge is power. I believe that statement the full extent. In order to be successful in life you have to have knowledge. For every day I go to class I’m learning something that can further me as a person or further my understanding of the world around me. Knowledge is what I have gained out of my college experience thus far and has been the best thing I have done for myself. My schooling has given and will give me the foundational information I need to know for the career path I will choose when I graduate. That is why it is and has been exceptionally valuable to attend Spring Arbor University.

I have gotten alot out my college experience by helping patients in a time of need. Also it help me get closer to my career/ goals and field. It's very valuable to attend college because not only will you be certified or recieve some type of degree; you will have the correct knowledge and outlook on your dession. Along with that you will always succeed in that work industry.

Out of my college experience thus far, the ultimate thing that I have gotten out of it is a second chance to succeed. In high school I was a rather average student. I earned pretty good grades, but they could've been better. I could've played softball, but I didn't get involved in many activities. I regret not doing more as a student, but the one thing that bothers me the most is that I could've been an honor roll student walking across the stage, wearing a colorful robe on Graduation Day, instead of sitting in the audience with the other ghosts who had on white caps and gowns. After graduation, I promised myself that I would do my best in college, and since then, I've kept that promise. Friends, family, and advisors can testify to this claim. The high value that I hold on my college education is also evident in my GPA and my current quest to seek new clubs and organizations to join. For the first time in my life, I have recognized my potential, and that knowledge is power. This fact fuels the enormous value that I hold on my college education.

My freshmen year of college I learned an incredible amount about everything I could of ever imagined. Not only did I learn more about God and how to have a stronger relationship with Him I also learned more about life. My view of life and how to communicate with people changed and as a result it helped me to better my relationships with people on the campus. Not knowing a whole lot about what my strengths and weaknesses were, the faculty and my friends helped me to get a glimpse of these things. This then narrowed down what I should do for a career and how I could be used in different ways not only at school but in my home town. My college experience has opened my eyes in so many more ways than I could have ever imagined and made me a better, more confident person in order to fulfill the purpose that God has planned for me.

When I was little, I told myself, I would never go to college. I wasn’t good at schooling, unless I worked hard. My dream was to be a stay at home mom. When I got to high school my senior year, my mind changed. God was telling me to go to college, Spring Arbor University. My four siblings before me went to Spring Arbor and my twin brother and I attend there now. One thing I have gotten out of college is that I need to follow the path that God has for me! I choose Spring Arbor because it’s a Christian college. The professors want to see students succeed! I think back to when I was little and me saying I will never go to college, but now that I’m at college going to be a kindergarten teacher, I know I am in the right path that God wants me to be. It’s important for me to attend college because God wants me to change children’s lives in the community that I will teach in. I will show children the love of God through me!
