What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Rebecca

Although I am only in my second year of college, I have learned that by chosing to continue my education I made a decision that is benefitting my life now, and will continue to improve my life as I enter into my field of study. I have learned that it is important to be a well-rounded student, but also to study what you are interested in and have a passion for. I changed my major during my freshman year because I was unhappy with the direction I felt that I was headed in. By being able to incorporate my faith into my learning experience, I am building a foundation from which I will be able to base my life upon once I graduate. Attending college has been the best decision I have ever made; at times it seems difficult and that there is no way through some of the struggles, but I am becoming a better person through it all.

Foremost, I have earned a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Secondly, I have learned that by setting goals and by working hard, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Spring Arbor was very encouraging and understood the roles of a working student. My experience was very positive, I met some incredible nurses, all who worked and attended college. I learned many things from my fellow students and faculty. One of those things was the importance of support during college. Some students were going through divorce, some were having kids, others had kids that were grown adults. But the most valuable information I learned from my fellow students and fellow nurses were to always support each other and to surround yourself with positive, supportive people. This advice helped me to graduate Summa Cum Laude in November, 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. I have continued with my goals and have been accepted to start my Master's degree in Nursing- Nurse Anesthesia specialty at Michigan State University in January, 2011. Spring Arbor was a stepping stone and an encourager of these dreams to get a Master's degree and become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

I have gotten alot out of my college experience it has aloud me to help others by do mission work in other countries and become a more effective communicator to a diverse group of people. It is very valuabl to attend college so that I can keep up to date in the medical profession so that I can continue to give the best care to those I come in contact with. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for your scholarship i look forward to hearing from you.

Each year, countless high school graduates apply for, prepare for, and enter in to a college campus in the fall. Their motivation for doing so is to recieve a higher education that will equip them with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers. However, although recieving a good education is the main reason I attend Spring Arbor University, it is not the reason that I love my college so much, and it is not what makes SAU the place that it is - a valuable and irreplaceable learning center for young adults. Spring Arbor is a valuable school not because of the classes it offers, but rather because of the extra-curricular activities and events that take place on the SAU campus. At Spring Arbor University, I have learned how to become a better leader, how to care for others, how to invest in the lives of my friends, and how to live a life with purpose - one centered around Christ. Even though I've learned a lot, I know I have a lot more to learn during my time remaining here at SAU, and I look forward to each day that presents new opportunities, challenges, and adventures.

It is unfathomable to consider my life without the benefit of a college education. I daresay I would not even know myself apart from it – so much passion, color, and vibrancy would be lacking from the everyday of my existence. My mind would be small, the world around me would be small, and I would be an aimless wanderer – adrift forever in the tumultuous sea of idea, thought, and action. My education serves as my tether to reality, my jumping-off point for future discovery; it is a reminder that what I would have called ‘impossible’ is not only within my reach, but it is, in fact, very possible. Drawing upon the encouragement, support and preparation I received from my professors, I found the courage to embark upon a semester abroad at Oxford University in England. I mustered the strength and focus required to compose a 50-paged honor’s thesis. Most importantly, I learned to take myself and my abilities very, very seriously. My soul contains a fearlessness that it did not know before – the unknown is now just something to be conquered. I am armed with the inimitable aplomb that can only be gained through a college education.

I have learned the meaning of hard work and that it is important to give your best in everything you do. I've learned to work well with others in my community and that even if you do not get along with everyone, everyone has value and you should treat them with love and respect. I've learned that everyone makes mistakes, but if we take our mistakes and learn from them they make us into people who are far more respectable and wise than we otherwise would have been. Even though college has definitely had its challeges I am glad I went because it has helped me to grow up and take responsibilty for my life and my actions and to realize that everything I do has a consequence, whether good or bad. I do not think I would have realized this if I had simply stayed home. I am also thankful my professors and all they have taught me, I feel like I am a much wiser person thanks to their teaching and that ,when I graduate, I will be able to do well in the working world.

During my time at SAU, I have learned to be a critical participant in the world around me. I do not have to simply go through life and listen. I can listen and analyze what I hear, based on what I know. I can do research to verify what I'm being told. In fact, I should do so. I listen with a critical mind, not listening for mistakes, but listening for the truth. I can get involved and be an active member of society. It's more than just talking about it-it's getting out and doing something. I as a Christians, am not called to simple tolerance, because tolerance breeds mere apathy, a simple ignoring of our differences. No, as follower of Christ, I am called to love, to reach out and help. To be tender. To be careing. To listen. I have learned (or am beginning to, as the lessen is something that will take eternity to grasp) what it means to truly follow Christ and to truly love God and love my fellow man.

My college experience has been a challenging journey. Not just mentally and physically have I've grown, but spiritually as well. I'm an African-American student attending a diverse college where our number is very few. It's hard to adjust to different enviroment especially coming from my hometown. However this college is very inspirational. The people here are genuine and full of love-- the love of Christ. I came in as a freshman lost not knowing what to expect in the real world. Here I am a Sophmore succeding in so much and telling my story to incoming freshman who were having similar problems as me. One importnt thing i did learn attending this school is that even though we are not the same (race, gender, economic status, etc), we all have the same equal opportunity as everybody else to succeed and go above and beyond what others can do. If only we can believe in God that he can do the impossible, everything that we expect to happen will sure to follow. For God's word says "I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me", phillipians 4:13.

I am now attended at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and my major is Avionics. My long terms goal, upon completion of college, is to enter the United State Air Force as an officer and a pilot. I hope to continue to fly as a pilot, for a career or hobby, after I have done my years of service to the military. Over the years I learned that college helped me become anything that I dreamed to be. My experience here is all about airplane. Although this should not hinder my ability as a student, I will need help financially. I have developed my goals during the years that I have been a student a Gateway Institute of Technology high school in Saint Louis. I work hard seek knowledge and understanding, and have tried to maintain good grades and hone my mental, physical, and academic abilities as the motto I always follow ‘knowledge and skills overcome superstition and luck’ to make the transition from my country of origin, Vietnam and to serve the country of choice, the United State.

Well I have got alot of things out of my college experience one of them is that the hard I put into my work I can achieve just about anything that I put my mind to. If I didn't attend that would just make me look like I wasn't cut out to get my education.

My college experience has been a valuable aspect to my new adult life. After finishing the registration process and figuring out my finances, I gained a sense of what it is like to be an adult. My first few days of school strengthened my sense of adulthood even more. In class, I felt equal to the students who ranged from the ages of 18 through their mid-fourties. I was not bombarded with an overwhelming amount of rules and regulations as I was in high school, and the students appeared as if they actually wanted to be there. Also, I quickly learned how important independence and responsibility is to the life of an adult. My time and grades became my responsibility the day I started college. As for independence, I noticed that the life of an adult is basically just a bunch of little small things I have to remember to do. I have also met loads of interesting people I am hoping to know. From budgeting, responsibility, and meeting new people, my first few weeks of college has been more valuable to my adult life than anything I have experienced before. I can not wait to experience more.

A safe place to learn diversity; different colors and cultures, different thoughts and opinions, different social activities and different lifestyles; yet all in an accepting and encouraging college setting. I have been challenged to step up and become a leader by staff, faculty, and other students. As a result of that challenge I have led ministries working with inner-city children, volunteered at nursing homes, planned campus-wide events, applied for a summer job in a different state, and am now the Student Government Association Director of Spiritual Life - a chance to change the way the campus is involved in serving the community around us through service projects and deeper relationships with God and each other. I have expanded my views on faith and religion and become so much more open-minded towards people who may not be exactly the same as me. I have made life-long friends who love me for who I am while encouraging me to be greater. The professors have been involved in my life and actively pointing me to ways for self-improvement and increasing knowledge. I have found no other place that allows me to grow in such great ways as Spring Arbor.

During my years at the College of Staten Island, I was able to experience a lot. From meeting new people to making close relationships to making connections to just being able to have the college experience. I was very involved on campus, I tried to partcipate as many workshops for personal and professsional development as possible and that's where I learned more about different opportunity. Emerging Leadership Program, one of my involvement during my years in C.S.I. has granted me many skills and knowledge that I would forever have, remember and cherish. Being able to work closely with my leadership coordinator and working with other bright future leaders was an honor. I can say this was my official step towards my professional carreer. After being involved, I learned about myself, learned what I want, learned how to approach it and learned how badly I wanted to succeed. I would say, without this college experience, without C.S.I. campus, without all the people I have met in my life; I would've never been in the position I am today. I am confident and very ambitious to make those experience well worthwhile because it is truly valuable.

Spring Arbor University has taught integrity, dedication, devotion and the concept of community. They provide an understanding atmosphere with the students, and in return, students create an understanding atmosphere of others. College has given opportunites of working with other people to better the community and the surrounding people that will be there in a given workplace. Working with people will be most cases once a student graduates, and college has the dedication and devotion in which is needed to get along with others. Integrity is a major trait college has an influence on. In college, there are so many due dates and obligations, in which makes it easier to create integrity which the student can hold on to throughout life.

Aside from the excellent academic experience and beneficial social connections I have made, the most valuable experience at Spring Arbor has unarguably been visiting the adoption agency I went though as an infant. Spring Arbor requires its students to study abroad, so I went to South Korea where I was born. I had never really worried about my background prior to my trip; however, there was always a part of my life without answers. I had problems with my identity, knowing where I could call home and who I was as a person. Brushing these issues off and going on with life was the best possible solution I could come up with. The more time I spent in Korea, the more I felt a desire to know my past and find answers. Standing in the exact place I was twenty years ago was so surreal. I felt so overwhelmed going through my file with the case worker I talked with. I have truly discovered who I am through all of this, with a sense of closure having been placed on my heart. Realizing my identity as an American has been so encouraging, I can now aspire for success without distraction.

Jennifer

I have learned a lot from my college experience but there are three main things that I would consider the most important. I have learned what it means to truly value my time. First, there are a lot of things going on in college and I have really learned what it means to balance my social life, academic life, and work life. Second, living away from home has also taught me to really cherish my family and friends back home because I do not get to see them as often. Finally, I have a better respect for my own personal belongings and space. Sharing a living space with more than one other person is challenging and I have learned how to take care of my own space and have a great respect for organization and cleanliness. College is very valuable to attend because it teaches you many life lessons that are going to be needed later on in every day life. Without the college experience, I would be lacking in various areas of life.

Colleen

I have learned a lot about what it's like to think for myself and make my own decisions. I know that many people feel that going to a Christian college does not allow for much freedom of thought or an opportunity to make decisions about your faith, but for me it has been quite the opposite. I have learned more about my own faith, but I have also been given oppotunites for learning about other faiths. This has been valuable to me because it has been time for me to grow as my own person, and not just a product of my church, my family, and the community that I grew up in.

Lindsey

I have gotten a lot out of my college experience and hope to receive even more in these next three plus years. While I was in school I learned not only the theory of my associated degree but also a lot about life and how to live it. I learned that I am perseverant and that I love to help others. I learned that when I set goals I am committed to complete them a complete them with excellence! That being honest is not only bout telling the truth but also about not leaving anything out. During college I learned how to make and maintain healthy friendships that build on one another. I lived many difficult experiences as well during my college experience but I would not change any of them. What I lived and learned and choose to be has made me who I am today and that is more valuable than anything else in the world to me!

From the perspective of a college student at Spring Arbor University, understanding the importance of planning and proper time management has been essential for me to graduate. This is true with my relationships with loved ones, co-workers, friends, and probable new employers. Commitments, flexibility, knowledge, self-motivation, and effective communication is a fundamental blueprint to an accomplished employee, student, or dignitary. Spring Arbor University has taught me that beyond the accolades I've obtained so far, practical time management allows me to enjoy the riches I discover by considering the time I have. I learned also that there is nothing wrong in asking for guidance! I ascertained viable information that was absent from my learning; therefore, I undertook the culture, words, and methodology that my professors and fellow classmates shared with me to pursue a profession with poise and dedication. I discovered a sense of self that by understanding what I shall become, I need to envision what I’m destined to achieve. As I continue with my studies at Spring Arbor University, I’m confident that it will prepare me for experimentation, exploration, and networking with people that will be the apex to my success.

Marissa

Last year I discovered a lot about who I am now and who I want to become. Not only have I figured out how to manage my time (an expensive lesson when it means failing some classes!), but I now know that I want to get this degree to get the future I know God has planned for me. I'm the only one of four siblings to graduate high school, let alone attend college, and my family does not exactly have the means to support me. Being at Spring Arbor helps me not feel alone in this journey; I have God by my side, and He will get me through this. Learning that I am not alone is probably the move valuable lesson I learned this year. I know that I can make it through the next three years and that getting this degree will mean the difference between a bright future or a dim one!

Rebecca

As a dually-enrolled high school student for the first year of college, I found the experience extremely helpful to supplementing my high school education and providing me with many credits early on. Dual-enrollment in particular has been a great help; if I had waited until I had finished high school to start earning college credits I would have been far behind where I am now.

Amanda

As I began college I was simply thinking about the end result. However, right away I discovered that it was going to be much more that that. I realized that I love to learn, and that learning was changing my life! It has been a transforming process, making me into a stronger, more confident person, and has given me a more holistic view of the world. My psychology class taught me that there are many different personalities in this world, and one is not right over another. We are simply different and wonderfully different. My Pauline Letters built on the idea that diversity should be celebrated. My English classes drilled into me the importance of communication in the written word. Art classes provided me with the chance to be creative, and dedicated. I began college with little expectation, or confidence. I will soon graduate with a Bachelor's degree, but more than that I will leave here knowing that I am capable, that I am trained, and that I have great potential. I cannot wait for the next great adventure in life!

Sarah

My college experience has provided me with a better sense of who I am and has provided me with the opportunity to meet the best people I have ever gotten to know. My college experience at SAU has also allowed me to begn an excellent education towards the degree I want in the Social Work field. Although, I think the greatest thing my college experience has given me is a stronger relationship with God. I've grown more at college, in every aspect - personally, spiritually, socially, than I have my entire life. Growing so much within just my first year has been so valuable because it's helping to shape the person I will be, and want to be, after my college experience is over.

Cameron

My college has experience has been great. I've learned so much since being at SAU. Being at a christian school, it attracts people of various denominations. I've learned to make friendships regardless of differences in beliefs. Besides that is learning the meaning of hardwork. The professors hear work you to near death and, for the most part, the work is never repetitive or pointless. You really know what you are learning. They really teach how to apply what you learn out the classrooms and even how it relates to your beliefs. All the academic stuff aside though, the friendships I've made have been quite valuable. We skipped classes, chapel, assemblies, done homework, prayed, studied and so much more together. It's so good to have deep friendships that can last. And with this is balance and time management. Discipline is probably the best thing you can do for yourself and, contrary to popular belief, it's very freeing. That's probably the biggest lesson I've learned.

All of my life I have allowed my family's financial struggles to limit my dreams. Attending a community college has shown me that if I am willing to put in the work, there will always be a way to attain my goals. I am thankful for my first year in college as it has opened my mind to new opportunities and I love sharing that with people.

Andrea

I am finally moving in a positive direction in my career, and have begun graduate studies!

When I leave Spring Arbor University, I will have a degree in Mathematics with a focus in Secondary Education. However, that degree is only a small part of what my college experience has been about. My way of thinking has been challenged and for me that is the most important thing a college could do for me. Never, would I wish to be a narrow-minded individual and I believe my college experience has prepared me to be open to new ideas. Spring Arbor University has given me the opportunity to better myself in four short years. Spring Arbor University is a small private Christian school but in no way does that mean students are here to be molded into carbon copies of one another. We have been challenged in the way we think about things and the way we go about our every day lives. Each class has given me the opportunity to look in the mirror and see what it is I am becoming and how that differs from what it is I want to become.

Tiffanie

Attending Spring Arbor University has furthered my education spiritually and academically. Each course I have taken has helped me increase my knowledge that I need to become an elementary teacher. Education is important to me because no one can take it away from you. I can't wait to teach my future students how important education is and to encourage them to further their education to become the person God wants them to be. Spring Arbor helped me become a successful student. After I graduate, I will encourage my students the way Spring Arbor has for me, to achieve their goals in life.

Jasmin

I have gotten a sense of freedom and independence from my college experience. Your away from home and get to experience life without your family around. I've also made a lot of friends many which will last even after college. College has been valuable to attend because I wanted to continue my education after high school and get a degree in a field of my choice. With college there are a lot of options. If the first major chosen doesn't seem to work out for you and you have another option, you can do so. You're not committed to just one plan. Now a days, if you want a nice paying job or just a job in general, you need some kind of degree so if getting a good job with a good degree is beneficial, why not go for it. My experience has been great thus far and I'm excited to continue my experience and partake in new adventures.

Jeremy

Two things that i have gotten out of college are time management and commitment. I have a better understanding with time management becuase there are so many things to do while there and so little time. Between homework, practice, hanging with friends and class there is not much time to do anything else. This is valuable because I will need time management when im out of school, time management will help with everyday tasks and will help planning out schedules and letting myself know what I can do and what I can't do in a period of time. Then commintment comes mostly from being in track and field. Commitment is very useful in life because if everyone gave up on their hardships they could not ever get anything done and I will never give up on anything.

Jessica

I have recieved an education that cannot be commended more. I have found a family of friends that I didn't know it was possible to have. Attending Spring Arbor has opened my eyes to other cultures and to be more accepting of different ways of life, as well as to cherish the blessings I have been given. SAU has helped me to grow so much emotionally, mentally, but especially spiritually. My faith and trust in Christ has grown exponentially since attending here. I feel much more confident about who I am, and the abilities I have to fulfill my purpose! Of my three best friends, two I met at SAU and one will be coming in this fall. It's too awesome to be a part of the community of learners that attend here, because they are so caring and commited to being here. I also love that I can go to my professors with any questions or even if I just need a listening ear or someone to pray with. There is no other school that I could possibly see myself attending.

Chelsea

My college experience has greatly affected who I am today. One thing that I had to learn right away was how to be independent. I started out with a roommate I didn't know and had no one I knew attend the same college. Being shy, I had to put myself out there in order to meet new people and make it through college. Another way I learned to be independent was financially. I no longer received allowance from my parents and looking for a job became a daily routine. However, independence isn't the only thing I got out of college. Building friendships proved to be increasingly difficult as one gets older but Spring Arbor University isn't going to let anyone feel alone. Through programs like Core I was able to build friendships with people that will last a lifetime. Attending Spring Arbor University has been very valuable to my college experience by teaching me independence and creating friendships that impacted my life greatly.

Lauren

Out of the couple of years that I have been in college, I have learned many things about myself. When I first began school, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I had a college introduction class that required the students to go out and volunteer, so I, along with my group, went to an animal shelter near campus. There I learned that even though I have a big heart when it comes to animals, vet school was not for me because I’d have a hard time with stray animals and having to put animals to sleep. From this I moved on to dental hygiene and this career fits me more. I love helping people, and this is a great way to keep a person happy and healthy. I’ve also learned valuable study skills in school and how to manage my time wisely. I have found my calling by attending school and learning what career is right for me!

Ashley

Since I started college I have definitely changed as a person. I have learned more about myself and how I want to live the rest of my life. Having opportunities to spread my horizons and experience different cultures has changed my view of the world, I realized that I wasn't as open-minded and accepting as I thought I was. My expectations I set for myself have grown and no matter what life brings me, I feel prepared and would put happiness before money or high-ranking. I feel as if my eyes have been opened and I am so thankful for the new experiences and relationships that I have made.

Kaitlin

The best thing I have gotten out of my college experience is the value of personal relationships and hard work. My school is smaller but this only serves to make my experience more personal. Our professors, staff and upperclassmen work together to create a welcoming environment for new students where they can immediately feel valued and comfortable. This welcoming atmosphere has made me feel comfortable being myself; I have not felt that I needed to act a certain way to fit in. Although we focus on being ourselves, we also focus on making ourselves better. We have required classes that teach cultural awareness, time management and how to maintain healthy relationships. Throughout my two years, it has been valuable for me to attend because my school has helped make me a better person. I understand things like communication and the value of listening, I now know how to manage my time and I have learned how to make a positive impact in my community. By teaching these things as well as the necessity of hard work, I feel that my school is preparing me to be successful. If I could do it over, I would pick this school again.

Kayla

Attending college was one of the best decisions I have made. I learned how to be independent, I discovered my passion, I met people who taught me about life, and I explored academia that was once unknown to me. In his peom, The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost writes, " Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Going to college is sometimes the road less traveled. It's difficult, challenging, and not the easy way out. I chose to go to college, I chose the road less traveled, and because of this decision I will never be the same; and I never want to be the same.

Ariel

Though I am only done with a small piece of my college experience, I have already received so much from it. I have become much more open-minded to the environment around me. I also find it easier to get to know people, and to relate to them as well. I am excited to learn more about myself that I don't know already.

Matthew

I am a serious college sophomore, and am pursuing a degree in Gaming and Simulation Programming Technology. I am entering my second year as a Dean?s List and Phi Theta Kappa honor student. Throughout my school career I have faced many academic challenges due to a learning deficiency. I learned to study hard, and to seek help when I feel overwhelmed. Although I am diligent, I never expected to excel to this level in college. I am very different from my friends, but I understand that my strongest academic performance is when I am taught with a hands-on approach. I attend New England Institute of Technology (NEIT); this technology college fits my learning style. Ultimately, I would like to expand my career into the field of robotics. I am inspired by really great professors to someday create new tools capable of helping physically challenged people to perform daily tasks. I might help them to drive a car, even if they are blind. Designing innovative enabling human interfaces will help people to deal with their disabilities, so their differences will no longer be their weakness. I know that I will continue to progress here. I truly love this college!

Samantha

I have learned more about who I am through my college experience. I have been allowed to grow and find who I am while working to become prepared for a field that I can not wait to get involved in. I have found value in being able to establish my personal identity, in the knowledge that I have learned, and for the opportunities my school has given me to help others and get involved in something that is much greater than just me.

Torina

My first year of college has been CRAZY! Obviously I learned a lot because that's what college is about, but one of the main things I learned is that high school is actually beneficial and taking AP classes does help whether we think so or not! I was prepared most for courses in which i took AP classes in high school. I didn?t think I would remember anything, but it comes back little by little. Another thing I learned is stay connected with your professors? because they will help! They can help you themselves or set you up with a tutor, and do not be embarrassed by having a tutor, it?s part of the college life! Even though i had struggles with academics and life...my experience was awesome. Even though there were a few bumps in the road, when you have a strong community of students around you, they are possible to get over. I valued my friends more than anything this year because they helped me get through everything. Whether it is academically related or not, it really helps to get connected with a group where you can meet people that will help you!

Ashley

I have learned a lot about myself and the person I will become, in addition to gaining real life experiences that will help me to succeed later on as a psychologist. I have also learned a lot about the real world and how many people react to being thrust into it. Some keep their heads and don't give in to temptation, while others who are unused to being without a leash and a choke-collar go crazy, drinking and partying every weekend, spending money left and right. I learned that the drama of high school carries over to college and quite probably beyond, fed by bad relationships and worse communication, not to mention the occasional person that lives to create said drama. Each of these experiences has allowed me to stand back and watch what happens, letting me choose who I will be and how I intend to get there. They've helped me realize, from an observer's view, what to do and what not to do, along with the best way to accomplish things or throw them down the toilet. In short, my college experience has been enthralling, informative and most of all, enlightening.

Joshua

I have obtain so much out of my first year at Spring Arbor! It has really opened my eyes and has helped me become a better student over all. The first year of college can be stressful and there is so much one can obsorb from the freshman year. If I could sum up in one word what I have learned the most about from my freshman year at college it would be the word discipline. I choose this word becasue there is much that this word covers. Your first year of college could, and is probably the most complicated year for you to face. You must discipline yourself to make a schedule. In that schedule you must balance time betweeen friends, family, homework, eating and many more things. In college you realize that every minute does count and you must discipline yourself to set time limits on everything. The word discipline has helped me get the most out of my first year of college because I was able to make friends, hang out with friends, do my homework and see my family. I was able to to do all these things because i disciplined myself to make a schedule.

I think most people attend college to better themselves. Not just so one day they can make money, or to have some piece of paper that means something. I think that most people do it so they can feel some sort of accomplishment , and knowing that they did something they can be proud of at the end of the day. Sure, in the long run it's so you can make money, and have the piece of paper with your name on it. But for me, it was knowing that I am able to do something more than I think I'm capable of, and being proud of what I did at the end of the day.

James

My college experience started with a basic knowledge of the classes I signed up for. Then those classes turned into opportunities. My opportunites at Spring Arbor University include a position as the Director of Special Events for the Gainey School of Business, internships with local companies that needed help in marketing, advertising, web development, and business management. As a student being mentored, I have undergone a mass amount of stretching as I have taken on these roles. There have been multiple professors who have seen the abilities that I have, and exploited them. I believe the most valuable part of my college experience thus far, is the fact that the professors at Spring Arbor University picked me out to learn about me and then put me in a situation that would stretch me and make me a better businessman, student, and man. I have been able to learn about my strengths in business management, marketing, public relations etc. as well as learn my weaknesses as I have been challenged by my caring professors.

Attending Community College while in High school was a great experience. I was able to get a feel of what college life is really like. Attending College and High school was hard I was loaded with homework everyday, but I was able to learn how to manage my time and use it wisely. I got a lot out of my experience, I lost friends and gained friends, I was able to grow up and see that education shouldn't be taken as a joke, but be taken seriously. My Experience has opened up my eyes to see life in a new perspective. The opportunity to go to College and High school at the same time was very valuable to me and I'm thankful for the opportunity. I was able to graduate not only with a High school Diploma but also with an Associate in Arts Degree. I am now more advanced in school than many of my friends and kids my age because I have my Associate In Arts Degree and I have proven to myself as well as others who doubted me that I can do anything I set my mind to do.

So far, I have gained so much from my college experience. I went into freshman year worried and extremely anxious. Through the interaction the school has with it's students, I made dozens of new friends and really had a chance to grow into who i wanted to be. My faith in Jesus has grown tremendously over this past year and it's almost entirely because of the people He has placed in my life at SAU. I've learned so many things in each class; things that were made applicable to my life. I will carry the memroires of freshman year with me for the rest of my life! I'm very thankful that God opened the door for me to attend Spring Arbor university, when by no means could I afford it. He truly is an amazing God and it has been proven again and again that He does provide. I am now growing in my faith, making friends and pursuing deep relationships with everyone around me, and learning more about the world and myself; more than I could have ever imagined.

During the semester I was able to afford to attend, I learned a lot. It made me realize how different life is when you become independent. It also taught me many things such as responsibility and time management. Unlike high school where you are constantly reminded of assignments and homework, college was completely different. For almost every course, you had to be well prepared because if you were not, then you would end up forgetting important information. My first semester of college made me realize that life may throw you curveballs, but you must still keep going no matter what. Due to financial problems, I had to stop going to school, but now I will be returning for the Fall of 2010. Going to college is something you should not forget. I learned so many things in one semester, and now I can not wait to return to expand my knowledge and experience even more.

I have learned a lot. It is a wonderful place for adult learners.

I have gotten so much out of my college experience. Many would look at the price tag and be shocked, but to me it's not about the finances-although they are important, it's about the lessons learned and the bonds formed. At Spring Arbor I have found an amazing community that encourages personal growth and even expects it. I have excelled both academically and socially here that I would ever have expected to. I have learned more about myself and changed for the better. Going into Spring Arbor University, I would never have expected to learn and change as much as I have. There can never be a price tag put onto this experience, it's something that I would give my entire life's savings for. It's something that I will never regret having done.

I have gotten so much out of my college experience. My classes have challenged me, and helped me to learn and grow. My theater classes and film classes have allowed me to further develop my acting and technical skills, and have allowed me to continue developing my passions for both. My professors have been encouraging, and have been very influential in my life. The professors at Spring Arbor care about their students on both acadamic and relational levels. They frequently schedule meetings with students just to see how everything is going in their lives. Attending a Christian university has helped me to grow closer to God. Being around other Christians constantly has been great for spiritual growth, and has helped friendships grow on a deeper level. The friendships that I have made here at Spring Arbor will last a lifetime. Relationships have been built, and memories have been made that will remain with me for the rest of my life. Looking back over the last three years on how my life at Spring Arbor has been makes me wish I could be at school for longer. I could say more but two hundred words limits what I can say. Thanks.
