There are many factors that go into deciding on a good college. Make a list in order of importance and also speak to people you know who are already attending college and ask them what is important to them as current college students. Don't rely just on the college recruiting people. When attending college, it is important to focus on your studies, but it is also important to stay relaxed. If you don't have any fun you will miss out on a big part of college and you will be so stressed out you end up not doing well. Try to find friends who have similar values and beliefs as you--people you feel comfortable with, who have your best interest in mind, and who won't pressure you into doing things. It is essential, though often difficult, to find the right ballence between fun and work. Often, in order to get their work done, students will stay up late to finish it, but that also makes it hard to stay alert in school. Ration your time, and avoid distractions such as facebook and computer solitaire while working on the computer.

I would tell parents to support their kids no matter which college/university they choose to attend. To students, I would recommend doing all your homework before you socialize. College can be the best time of your life and the most valuable, but only if you use your time wisely. Do the work and study then go have fun.

Pick a school that is financially pheasable for you, friendly, small class sizes and a good reputatuon

Go to college visits, try to get at least a general idea of what you want to study or get a degree in. The school that is the best fit may just feel right, even though it may not be the best in other aspects. Try to get a good feel for the type of people on campus and of the teachers durring your college visits. All will strongly influence your reactions to the school and give you an idea of how much you will like attending it.

Keep an open-mind when your looking at colleges!

I would say to parents let your teen find a school that sits best for them. Don't push them. Imagine what your experience was like as a young adult. The decision made will make a lasting impact on your son/ daughter's life, so help them decide for themselves by asking what are the pros and cons of each school. Once they decide, they will feel a gentle lift off their shoulders and they will be able to relax, enjoy life. Students should think wisely and conscienciously as if they are already an adult before they decide which their pick will be. They will need to first decide what they most truly value as a person, if the college measures up on more than simply the campus appearance, but also what is offered. The college should be one which fits their major with ease and will provide them enough challenge to keep their minds stimulated.

Find a place where you feel comfortable and safe. The best thing you can do is explore many different colleges and find out what you like. Do a pros and cons list. Know the atmosphere where you learn the best and find it in the school you pick.

Look at a large number of schools first. Don;t be afraid to go far from home if the school seems to be a good fit for your personality and career choice. Most of all remember that nothing is set in stone. If you give a school a good one year chance and it doesn't fit you, you can always transfer. Good Luck!

Alicia

Make sure you no what you want. Also make sure you have visited the school during times when school is in session. Always remember that what you see is not always what you get. Check out how often costs go up, you might be suprised to find out how fast some schools inflate there prices. Another important piece is to make sure the student feel they would have a support system at this school if it is far from home. DONT just look at one school! Have fun and good luck.

Go for your dreams!

Tour each school that seems interesting simply through research but make sure you visit the campus. When you visit the right college it truly feels like home with the people, area around the school, and environment of school. School really is about money, but if you are at the right school, your transition into a new lifestyle will be worth it.

To make the best college choice is very difficult. A great way to see how life on a particular campus would be to sit in on a common general education class and see how involved students are and feel the atmosphere. A student must feel comfortable in order to be successful in a learning enviroment. You will pay alot of money for this education so make sure there are student outreach programs for tutoring and study groups. Making the most of the college experience is not hard, just dont be shy and put yourself out there. Do as much as you can handle with out stressing yourself out. Get to know people and life actually becomes more meaningful.

When a student and one's family searches for the college that will be their home, their growing place, for some of the most pivotal years of that student's life, several key points need to be developed and discussed. First, how do you value your education? Is it worth a significant debt? Is it worth setting aside a significant amout of free time? How do you want the next few years of your life to look? What are your personal and educational goals for college? Secondly, what atmosphere do you want to develop in? Are you outgoing and social, eager to meet many people and learn new things? Are you quiet, serious, and passionate about specific ideas or activities? Thirdly, what do you want to experience while at college? Do you feel education is best exprienced through lectures and textbooks? Do you learn well from hands-on projects? In what areas do you excel? In what areas do you wish to challenge yourself? What new ideas, places, and people do you want to discover and learn from and about? What opportunities do you want to have available while in college? These will guide your choice to a fulfilling education!

Finding the right college is a difficult task. Students wishing to attend college immediately after high school should take the time to visit schools during their sophomore summer/junior year of high school. It would be best to enroll in a few college courses while still in high school to get a taste of the curriculum as well. Remember to judge schools based on the academic credentials as well as asthetic appeal and social activities. The years while you are in college go by quickly, so be involved and take advantage of the activities and groups available at your college.

Perseverance is not just a word but a way of life when deciding what path your future will take and turning that dream into reality. When choosing the right college you should look for that special institution that can provide the same comfort, playfulness, and academic fulfillment that was experienced during your early formative years. Comfort to allow you to expand your personal boundaries in a friendly and safe environment; playfulness to recharge after a challenging day of exploration and hard work; and finally academic fulfillment to feed the curiosity innate to each of us and pay tribute to the noble endeavor of bettering ourselves by experiencing life to the fullest extent each and every day. Regardless of the college you decide to attend, and the challenges that obtaining a degree presents, the experience will last a lifetime if you open your heart and mind to it. Be willing to embrace the lessons being taught, in and out of the classroom, and your perseverance will be rewarded with a rich and fulfilling college experience, life, and professional career that anyone would be proud to call their own.

Look at every college. When i was looking at schools, i said nothing more north of the city i live in because it will be to cold for me. And now i'm going to duluth, 2 hours north from where i'm from. Get involved with lots of different things. Don't be shy, nobody judges like people do in high school.

Sarah

Applying for college can be a time-consuming and hecktic task to complete. From my experience, I have learned it is important to visit each college you are interested in and to do your research on each university. I visited three colleges when applying and found that visiting each school helped my decision process easier. It seems to me that college graduates are taking anywhere from 4-6 years to complete; therefore, it is important to enjoy the environment you are in because it can impact your learning ability and overall well being. Do your research. If you know what degree you are interested in completing, be sure to contrast and compare classes, career programs, scholarships, student environment and professors that can impact your future learning. If you do not have any idea, picking a college that provides a diverse range of degrees would be a rational choice. To summarize, visit each college and research each university.
