For the most part, students here are motivated and driven to succeed, but you definitely find a lot of partiers here. However, it's a large school, which makes the student body extremely diverse and you're bound to find people of varying backgrounds, and those who share your interests. People here are generally friendly, but there are exceptions, as with any school.

There are a lot of rich kids from up north. The campus is big enough though where if you don't like some people you encounter, there are many others you can get to know.

My old school was so small that I knew the name of everyone I came in contact with. It was nice to feel part of such a close community. I miss that at Maryland, because it's such a big pond.
