Anything you'd ever want to do is here. All sorts of majors, clubs, sports team, and other extracuriculars. The social scene is just as diverse, with no shortage of parties, or places to go. There's tons of room to experience new things and try things out.

The best thing about Umass has to be its diversity. They accept so many different people with so many different things to offer. Also because of the diversity everyone is so accepting of other people around them. nobody makes fun of you, they accept you for who you are and learn about the differences and respect them.

The encouraging and friendly atmosphere. People want to get to know you and the professors and other students want to help you learn.

The best thing about UMass is its size. At first I was weary of the large student population as well as the physically expansive campus. However, after being here for two years, the I realized that the large size of UMass actually serves as a benefit. Because it is such a big school, UMass offers up almost anything a student could think of, with all types of majors, all types of people, sports, and events, one can truly meet the world at UMass.

At UMass you'll meet lifelong best friends, but you have to make the effort. It's a huge school, and very easy to hole yourself up in your dorm if you're not a social butterfly. If you're someone like I just mentioned, I'd highly recommend joining a RAP or TAP housing dorm your first year, as you'll automatically be placed in small classes in your dorm with people from your floor, making instant aquaintences. On-campus life varies by residential area.

I like the size. I like the people. I cannot become tired with the people I meet because there the community is diverse.

it's a public school (that's cheaper) that offers a variety of stuff. it may not be the best, but it's pretty good for what you pay.

The social life, because there is always something to do and, because it's college, you get to choose what that is.

The academics. There are so many opportunities available if you look for them. Professors are very open to talking to and meeting with students. They are eager and excited about what they are doing.

My friends are definitely the reason why I love my school so much. They were the first people that I met at UMass and I feel like we will be friends for the rest of our lives. I also like the fact that there are so many ways to get involved, whether it is through a job, club, or sport, there's something for everyone.

UMASS is a large school but it also feels like a community. There is a sense of comraderie between the students and support which I think is rare for such a large school. I know most of the people in my major and are involved with activities with them in and outside of school. The school also has been able to band together in the last few years as a unified group to tackle issues with the administration which was really great. It's a very liberal, accepting environment.

I think the best think about this school is the way the students are diversed, not necessarily in race but in everything else. Most students here are open-minded, they welcome new ideas and have multiple characteristics that enables them to interact with other students. They socialize with others at the dinning commons, library, sporting events, school sponsored activities such as barbecues, dances/formal parties, etc.

The amount of extracurricular activities that students engage in is very good because it shows that students are more well rounded both inside and outside of class and they help out the community through community services.

The best thing about this school is that anyone can attend. There are all sorts of people that come here so if anyone is worried about not meeting the right people, you can just forget about that. It's big enough that if you don't find the right friends right away, you dont give up. I have met all types of people, from races to different interests and they've all been very kind. You can be in a hallway of dorm that isn't yours and the residents will stay say "Hi!" I love this school for that.

The best thing about UMASS is that they give you exactly what you are looking for. If you want to take big lecture classes, you certainly can. If you want smaller and more personal classes, there are plenty for you as well. If you are looking for a career later in life, UMASS has all the tools you need to be a qualified and competitive member of the economic world. Also, as UMASS is commonly assumed to be, if you want to go to college to party or even to just find yourself, UMASS has the scene youre looking for.

There is so many kids that no matter what type of person you are you can find a group of friends that fit your personality. You are not restricted to the typical jock label that you can get in high school because people hang out with other people like them and the other groups usually do not interact. So there are no hard fealings.

everyone is very friendly. it's a very social environment, yet at the same time most people are very focused on their school work. most people know you can't have a good time if you fail out!

The overwhelming sense of community. UMass does a great job creating a harmonious atmosphere among it's studentes. We feel both safe and motivated which are good factors for learning and having fun doing so.

The opportunities. There is every type of person, group, event, or anything that you are looking for. There's somewhere for everyone to fit in and find what they are looking for. The academic and social opportunities are endless. UMass also has allowed me to grow into the person I want to be both intellectually and socially. I have made friends and connections to last a lifetime, I am receiving an excellent education, and have found other ways to learn (including participating in a reasearch project). There is so much to take advantage of!

The fact thatit does have so much to offer. UMass has a reputation as a party school, but there is so much to it than that. It's a much better academically than people give it credit for, it's business and engineering schools are among the top in the nation. Also with this many people it is easy to find like minded people and get involved with organizations and events that you are truly interested in.
