There are a lot of reasources that are available. If you don't see a class you like, you can most likely create an indepedent study. For the arts, we have UMS, which brings amazing artists and performaners from all over the world. Some companies, dance and theater, only come here when they come to the USA.

the great variety of classes offered, huge school spirit, sports

Maureen

Michigan was the only "in state" or public University to which I applied.

Colin

It was supposed to have a very diverse student population, which was important to me, as well a lot of services for students, such as counseling, doctors and handymen (if you live on-campus). The variety of extra-curriculars is off the charts, so you can really find ways of doing almost whatever you want. Also, it's in a really neat town.

Laura

School Spirit. GO BLUE

Josh

Ann Arbor had a good location considering my home, and its access to southeast Michigan

Amanda

The campus atmosphere. Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan grew up together, making the distinction between campus and downtown Ann Arbor blurred and giving Ann Arbor and the University's central campus a small town feel with big city opportunities.

Eric

It has one of the biggest break dancing clubs in the state.

Kendra

it has a lot of cultural and a fun city

Kristi

Great football team

nicole

IT IS MICHIGAN WHAT ELSE IS THERE

Loma

The level of research and the quality of the education. I applied at other schools that we not as acedemic.

Marisa

It has the best mix of hard academics and amazing school spirit.

Tyler

It offers one of the best engineering programs in the country.

Lauren

I think the most unique thing about this school is the amazing balance it has with school spirit and academics. No matter who you talk to on campus, everyone is crazy about MIchigan football and the experience in the Big House is unforgettable. On the flip side of the really fun Football Saturdays is an extremely rigorous academic program. Every class you take will be challenging and open you up to new ideas and ways of thinking. Along with this academic program comes numerous research and internship programs available to anyone with initiative.

Traci

University of Michigan is unique in the fact that it's a very well rounded school. It has great academia, athletics, diversity, a large amount of activities and groups, large and small classes, and people from all walks of life, from all around the world.

Ciera

It is a very prestigious and well-known school.

Laura

The sporting events, particularly football, are central to this University. No other school I considered had the spirited atmosphere that could compare to UM.

Jaimie

the location.. the campus is 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} integrated into the city of ann arbor. this is something you'd expect only in really large cities.

Laura

University of Michigan is unique because all kinds of people attend school here. We have people who are great analytical thinkers and we have people who are great creative thinkers, but the important thing is that each and every person thinks on their own two feet, forms their own opinions, and every person goes above and beyond what is required in order to achieve something greater because that is just what is necessary. This is a place where a person can become well rounded and at the same time independent and an expert in their field.

Kimberly

The campus is entwined in the city of Ann Arbor, which makes for a very cool campus. Everything is within walking distance, plus you can go shopping and eat at the many interesting restaurants in the city. There is also a great transportation system to get you around the city if you can't reach the place by walking. The campus is very unique, lots of fun, and a place to meet amazing people.

Courtney

U of M is extremely accepting of all types of people and thoughts. It's one of the most diverse campuses I've been on.

Jasem

50,000 people... but you can walk accross campus and see 10 of your friends easily

Jessica

The University of Michigan is very unique compared to many other schools. I really enjoy how the campus is mixed in with the town of Ann Arbor. There are so many things to do during breaks or in spare time after classes. The population of students at U of M is very diverse and allows everyone to express themselves in many different ways. The availability of extracurricular activities is top notch as there are so many different sports and clubs available to participate in. I also enjoy the different cultural events and shows that there is to attend on campus.

Jessica

All in all the city itself was my first favorite part of attending, followed secondly by the interesting classes that I took.

Nathan

I probably didn't answer the above very well, but this school isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm not really sure how it got so world-renowned. The administration is useless and the teachers in the sciences department gear you for failure. There's a lot to do on campus, there's lots of groups to join. The school is very liberal, the teachers are liberal and they put it in their teachings; it's horrible for anyone who is moderate or conservative.

Ryan

College can be stressful if you let it go to your head. You have to take time to relax every now and then but not too much or you will quickly get behind. Staying organized is the key to success I think.

Kaitlin

I got offers to go to many other schools. I visited campuses across the country. I knew I wanted to be a Michigan Wolverine when I walked across the diag and LITERALLY got goosebumps. I've had more great experiences in my three years here than I thought I'd have in a lifetime. The key about college is that you get out of it what you put into it. Michigan just offers you a greater return on your investment.

Joshua

Ali

Just come here--the people are smart and you'll have a great time. The weather seems a lot worse than it is, and the sports/school spirit aspect is awesome.

Marissa

For some people this might not be the school for them. But it's perfect for me. Yeah we've got a great reputation in academics and sports, but what's more important to me is that I get the chance to do anything I want. Literally. Anything.

Harper

Michigan can be a tough nut to crack, I've thought about transferring more than once, but I find that I can't bring myself to do it. On my initial visit here I just felt right, and I haven't felt that same feeling anywhere else. I would highly recommend taking a visit to any college before attending and seeing your feelings about it.

Skylar

Going to school here is expensive! But it is WORTH EVERY PENNY. I've had more experiences than I can describe. To try to put them down in words doesn't do them justice. There really is only one way to go when it comes to college.... GO BLUE!

Rose

The bottom line is, college will change you no matter where you decide to go. Think of it as starting out fresh, so don't be afraid to establish bonds with new people. Remember though to be as cautious as you would be in the real world.

Katie

Go Blue.

Hunter

Backroom pizza, $1 slices. They the shit, they'll make you shit.

Natalie

I love the University of Michigan, it is the best place for me.

Danielle

Michigan is great.

David

Overall, I am having a good experience at Michigan but I spend most of my days either studying or hanging out with my girlfriend.

Brittany

Michigan is amazing. It truly offers something to everyone and I can see everyone being happy here. We have great rival schools and it makes you proud to be a Michigan Wolverine. When I travel around the country and I wear Maize & Blue, I always meet other U of M alumni that shout the familiar "GO BLUE" as we cross paths. It's such a great feeling of pride that all U of M students/alumni/faculty share. We are all extremely proud to be Michigan Wolverines and we definitely will not let you forget it!

Naomi

I <3 U of M.

Tristan

This survey is much too open ended. I wasn't prepared for a 2 hour, online blue book exam.

Madison

Students who excel at Michigan are those who assert themselves and aim way above the basic expectations set for the median incoming freshman. By your sophomore or junior year, you need to firmly take control of your own fate. The University is simply too big to carry you along by your neck-fur. That doesn't mean that you'll be a drone, but it means that you'll be judged by your performance more than your potential. Most smart people excel here. The ones who have bad experiences tend to be those who expected to be coddled and cooed over.
