What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Joseph

It seems cliche what Mom and Dad said, that your college years are some of the best years of your life. Well.....it's true. It's terrifying at first I'm well aware, but trust in the people around you. The close friends you will make will be your greatest achievement in school. College is about so much more than just an education, and I know it doens't make sense right now. All you are thinking about right now is homework and tests I get that. You'll just have to trust me, stay open minded, don't get wrapped up in the little things, and just be yourself. There is plenty of fun to be had, in the most rediculous ways. You think you have it figured out, but there is no way any of us on this planet can have it all figured out. The road will be as bumpy or as smooth as you let it be most of the time. There will be times when college will smack you down hard. You have to learn to be able to get back up and prove you have what it takes.

Korrine

Take the SAT and the ACT mutiple times. Make sure to keep your grades up, even in that last stretch of your senior year. Have a good summer, but when you get to college be ready to work. College is a different experience, both good and bad. Have fun, but don't forget to turn in your assignments on time and study hard! Enjoy!

I go back a few years, when I was a senior in high school. I think to myself, "I am so proud of where I stand today." I remember those "senioritis" days and I remember the memories I had created in high school. The best advice I could of given myself would be to continue my education with a positive attitude. Although it may be tough in the beginnning, simply because of the new transition you must go through and financial difficulties when starting at a new college, it is all worth it. Meeting new friends, and joining academic groups will help expand your knowledge and possibly help earn you scholarships. Focus on getting good grades in high school, and do not slack, because your hard work pays off in the end...you could get scholarships. If you have a dream, such as becoming a muscian, follow that goal because music could pay your way to college. Surround yourself with happiness and be proud of yourself, because one day the career you choose, will impact others around you in so many wonderful ways. At the end of the day, that is the most rewarding for yourself.

Hollie

Never limit yourself. You have so many oppurtunities ahead of you. Don't ever be afraid, because you can go anywhere and do anything, so long as you never give up. And don't ever be afraid to ask questions. Some one, out there, will help you. Follow your heart, because you don't want to spend the rest of your life doing something that you hate. Money isn't everything, it is limiting. But doing something that you can be proud of and happy with, that is everything. Enjoy each moment; this is going to be an exciting ride!!

If I could go back and talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell myself not to stress out and worry so much about sports. I knew that I was not going to play sports in college yet I still threw a lot of my time into those extra curricular activities. I do not regret the decision to play but I wish I had participated in some other out of school activities. I would suggest for my high school self to participate in FFA(Future Farmers of America) or other archery/shooting sports since that is what I am interested in now after I have grown up. Also I would suggest that I do not date someone in my hometown while I am in college. My college self missed out on many activities during three years of dating while I was in college because I came home on weekends to see someone who would eventually break up with me. Great lessons learned in this but you can not go back and do it over. Also go with your heart on what you would like to do as a job, not what others want for you!

Ashley

I would like to think I had it all figured out but in reality I should have taken high school more seriously. I did not realize at the time how large of a stepping-stone it was going to be for my future. Back then I could not wait to finish with school, not realizing I had many more years ahead of me. I would push myself to go to college immediately rather than waiting. Doing this would have saved me time and money. I would explain the importance of waiting to have a child until I finished college and started my career, because being a mom created unique challenges for me as a college student. Juggling a child and studying was very difficult. Having a family forced me to spread out my class load, prolonging my graduation by two years. Staying home with my child became a priority, causing me to deviate from my main goal of becoming an RN. I should have just followed my dream from the start. In the end it took me six years to accomplish my goal of becoming an RN. With hard work and determination anything is possible as I proved to myself.

Robert

Two main points of advice I would give my self is the take time and energy or effort, which is human energy. First, take time, a lot of time, the consider the opportunities or opportunity costs. What are the benefits of one choice compare to the cost of that choice over another? Consider what are my goals both long-range and short-range and take time to create a vision of how to achieve my goals. Read some words of wisdom from one of our countries founders, Benjamin Franklin, on Prundential Algebra in which the pro and cons of each decision are carefully weighed. While we are considering our future, attend church regularly because it will open up opportunities we were not aware of. Once we have made decision on our short-range and long-range goals, it is our responsibility to follow through, bringing our vision to reality, with time and effort, energy and enthusiasm. By attending church we will come to know that with time and energy, everything is possible. Lastly, be willing to change because the future is a mysterey, the past is history, and the present is a gift. Be us, be who we will be.

Maybellin

Explore all of the colleges May. Don't ever limit yourself. I understand that you are frightened and just pick whatever is comfortable but this is the chance to find your dreams. Don't take that lightly. Search and search until you know exactly where it is you belong. Whatever makes you happy, whether it's to travel the world or a public university. Don't think of yourself as any lower. And never let the money limit you. You can make it, no matter what the cost. Because in the end, your dreams are priceless.

Francesca

Begin to look into all careers that fit all of your interest. Create a resume that has references and volunteer hours which can be validated and substaintated. The environment for scholarships are varied and working with your counselor is important. Continue to seek and ask for help in finace, understanding rankings, extending studies to double or triple major and look toward graduate school as a continum not added time to be held back. Adulthood requires forethought and time managemet. Pleae bring your "A" game at all times and talk out your fears. Make every moment aan adventure not only socially but in your educational development. Find a mentor and hold on for the ride thanking them for their expertise and guidance. Accept all advice as interest and discern the validity of the advice with trusted adults of all ages. Fear is natural and change is inevitiable; use both to your advantage. This is the advice time has emerged over time, taught me well, and I now use to the best of my benefit.

sejal

Take it serious. Do not let family life problems be your responsilbility. Be the intelligent student that you are. Take advantage of ALL the resources that a college can offer you and travel the world through study aboard. In the future there will be lots of time to worry about stuff, but for now, while you have nothing to tie you down, see the world. You have the capability and curiousity to understand the world. Take you chance and LIVE! For once in your life do something for YOU.

Onya

Take college serious earlier on. There is plenty of time to party. Learn how to be organized early, it will make things a lot easier. Get involved in activities on campus, not only will it help you you to meet people but it will also look great on your resume.

Sarah

Well, I'll be honest. I wasn't super excited about going to college at all. So going through the application process, I viewed picking college as which school was less "evil". Yes, schools vary tremendously, but college is college. It's what you make of it. If you go into school with an open mind and willing to make the best of it, it will turn out great. I now love my school and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I saw a few people including my roommate being miserable. They would sit in their room and complain about how they didn't like the school. What they didn't realize is that every school you will "hate" if you don't put the effort forth. You have to put yourself out there and get involved. College is going to be as amazing as you make it be.

Tianna

If I could go back in time I would tell myself to be as involved as possible and not to get intimidated by what others thought or did. College has so much to offer and it is really important to become involved in many extra-curricular activities to ensure well roundedness. Scoring a job right after college is a hard thing to do in these times so I believe that employers consider the small extra things that a student has done throughout their college career. Being a part of organizations and committees can help a student better prepare for their future. Throughout high school I was involved, but once I entered college I became intimidated. Luckily, the feeling did not last long. As soon as I realized how important being involved was I got right back into it. However, I wish that I would have never gotten intimidated in the first place. If I had someone to talk to me about this early on I do not think that It would have happened.

Lydia

If I could go back into my senior year, I would prepare myself for college. I would tell myself that I need to look into different colleges and have an idea of what career or profession I would like to have in the future. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have waited so long to further my education. If I would have gone to college right out of high school, I would have already had my career going. As a senior I would have also advised myself to focus on school first then find a part time job so that I would not fall behind. I would tell myself to make sure the career or profession that I chose would be what I want to do for a long time or for the rest of my life. I would tell myself to strive for a high G.P.A. throughout my college years

Mark

If I could back in time and tell myself what I know now about college now, I would definitely say pay good attention to what the professors are saying, take really good notes, do all the homework, and TAKE any extra credit. Another thing I would advice would be, for certain classes, take what the professors talk about in class, and apply it to you everyday life which could help you understand the material covered in the course. I would also suggest appointments with professors if I didn't understand the material, that way they could see I was trying my best in class and would also be excellent references for letters of recommendations. I would also advice myself to find tutoring; much help is provided in college outside the classroom, so I would definitely advice myself to take advantage of that. And overall, just to have a great learning experience all through college, and to get involved. Last thing I would say to myself is that "college are your glory days, so make the most of them."

Regina

Always think ahead and make plans accordingly to your goals. Beaware that college can be a costly experience, so always have a way to finance your studies. Once the finanacing part is solved, aim to have good college grades and keep a competitive edge. Make some time for extra curriculum programs that your college might offer, so it will help you gain experience in different fields and help you handle various situations where you need to be in charge of making decisions. College years can be hectic, but there is always enough time for making good relationships along the way, so enjoy it while you are at it.

Finally they invented a time machine, to go back in time. So i jumped in and I put June ,5,2004, this was my graduation day. In a flash here i was back in time. I started to walk around my highschool to look for myself, their I was joking around with my friends , about where I was going for vacation. As i walked closer everything seem to pause, and I catch my pasts attention. In shock my oldself was in disbelif, I said "I have come from the future to give you some advice for college". As he stared at me I began to give him advise for college. I said college will not be easy, if u think u can slack off and expect to do good, it wont help in college. Another thing i said was make the right choices, do not listen to friends, your choice's will effect your future. In the beging i said to him it will be diffuclt , just hang in thier, and try your best to finsh College. Before I knew it, I woke up from my dream, and In a amazment in my own Dentis office, saying I made it.

Sarah

If I knew then what I know now I would:Spend more time applying for scholarships. The costs don’t seem real while you're still in high school but when you start paying the bills and taking loans they become very real. Save money now. Do I really need that new (insert frivolous purchase)? Making the grade requires much more effort in college. You have to spend hours studying for each test so when adults try to teach you study skills, listen! No more skating by on minimal effort blended with charm. Grades and school clubs are important but community service will help you stand out. Get involved in something you love that also helps others. Be a leader and motivator. That will help you get in and get connected at college. Lastly, have fun, but while you’re planning where to chill with friends make time to think about your future. You’ll know who your true friends were when they drive three hours just to come visit you on the weekend. Separating from your best friends is not easy but believe me you will meet lots of crazy and interesting people who will become friends for life.

Michala

Continue on. Keep attempting the impossible and search for the answers. Find a major field for a career that will benefit you financially but also bring you happiness. Follow through by investing time into the community to help acquaint yourself further with your chosen major.

Stay focused! I truly believe now that I am grown that hind sight is 20/20. There is not much that I regret in my life but going through the hard times that I am now, I truly wish that I had the opportunity to go back in time. If I could tell my teenage self one piece of advice for the future it would be to stay focused. I like many other young students thought that college would be similar to high school where I was a NC scholar however I allowed myself to be overloaded and overwhelmed. I also allowed myself to become engrossed in my personal life and therefore lost focus and did not achieve what I had hoped. I am now in a situation that if I had stayed focused then my life would have turned out very different and for the better I believe. Now that I am in school once again, I am using that misfortune as an incentive to remain focused on my new goal to ensure that I will be successful and provide myself and my children a future that we can all be proud of.

Delphia

What if? Those words echo through nearly everyone's head at some point during their lives. So many possible paths to take, so many mistakes to learn from. If I could go back and give myself then a speech about what I know now, it would be this: follow your dreams and dream big. Way too many of us dream big but don't have the follow through to turn those dreams into reality. Then we spend the rest of our lives juggling "what ifs" and piling on guilt for all the wrong turns that we took. Step out of your comfort zone! Apply for that college that you think is way out of your reach. Be real and tell them why you deserve a chance. After all, what is the worst that can happen? They can tell you no, of course...but sometimes, that is best thing that can happen to you. Either way, take that letter and frame it. If it is a yes, it will remind to you always dream big. If it is a no, it will remind to work harder every day to be a person that they wish they had taken a chance on.

Rachel

Aside from the great education I'm currently recieving, I have also made some friendships that will last a lifetime. I feel that other than the schoolwork, that is one of the important things. Without going to a four-year university, I never would have worked on my time management skills or study skills, which will help me once I enter the work force. The classes I have taken have already taught me so much and I'm eager to continue.

Ashley

Through my experience at college I have learned how important it is to think for yourself and to not be easily manipulated by others. You are required to make decisions and suffer the consequences for poor decions that are made. I'm learning what it takes to be an adult and although i still have a long way to go to becoming financially independent i realize that it takes hard work and commitment. College has taught me to research everything and become a well informed member of society. I have learned so much about politics that I had never realized before as well. Most importantly I'm learning tolerance of others. Many people around you share opinions and if those views don't match your own you still have to acknowlegde where they are coming from and handle it in a professional manner. You can't make someone feel inferior just because you don't share the same views. You just have to continue on and realize that just because they have certain doesn't mean that you are expected to agree or believe their opinions, you're just expected to acknowledge and analyze such beliefs.

Jaime

I love school. Some people think i am crazy but i really love to go. I am learning to be a middle school teacher and i can not wait to get into a classroom and teach! I am so fortunate to have parents and a family that support me so much in my dreams to attend school and further my education in order to educate other students. I have learned so much in college and i have grown in to a very educated woman who is strong willed and i know that i can do anything. I have met some amazing people in college that i will forever keep in touch with and i will always push everyone person i meet to go to school and reach anything that they aspire to become in life. Anyone can do it and i can not wait to be able to share my knowledge and love of education as an educator to our younger generation and help them to find their dreams and support them as i have been supported in my life.

I am a 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} disabled,10 Navy veteran. I wanted a school that would mirror some of my military experiences by being organized, and structured, yet creatively free. UNCC has been the best of all worlds. Their execution of financial aid, VA paperwork, scheduling, orientation, and adult student assistance has been flawless. I am continually blown away by the attention to detail of the staff, and the genuine concern and care for ALL students. I have five kids, and I am currently going through a separation. I was at a point where I didn't think that I would be able to handle the rigors of attending school, getting a job, and personal life. From the first email that I sent to the veterans representative, to the Saturday adult orientation that I recently attended, the staff not only showed me that I could accomplish my higher eduacation goals, but I could succeed in them. The insight that they gave me to scholarship programs, student organizations, tutoring help , and creating a feasible fulltime schedule, has been invaluable! I look forward to showing my kids what hardwork and determination can do, when you are in the right place with great people!

molly

College is valuable because until you go away to school, your parents do everything for you. My mom took me to the doctor when I was sick, filled my prescriptions, made hair cut appointments, bought my books for me, made me do my homework, everything. But when I moved away to college, I learned independence and responsibility more than anything. I had to buy my own books, take my vitamins without nagging reminders from mom, budget my spending money on my own, and earn good grades. Transitioning from the summer after I graduated to the first semester of college was like moving on from childhood and finally experiencing a little bit of the adult world. I suddenly had no curfew, no rules, and could do what I wanted when I wanted, which was great, but I realized that with the freedoms everyone glamorizes about going away to school comes great responsibility as well. The college experience is about maturing and transitioning from a student to a young professional.

Kristi

College never really seemed like an option for me since I came from a less fortunate family. I finally decided to take the initiative to enroll in a trade school for a medical office program. By doing that that feel that I have liberated myself, furthering my education has opened doors for me to create a career for myself instead of just a job. My work will have meaning. I am also the first person in my family to continue their education so I am very proud of myself. My college experience has given self confidence and pride, as well as a bright future in the medical administration industry. It hasn't been an easy journey especially being on my own in this juncture in life when it comes to support for my education. Enrolling was the best decision I ever made, incredibly valuable to my future as well as creating a stronger person inside and out.

Kelsey

College has been a great experience for me so far. I have grown alot in my communication skills and how I deal with life decisions. I have learned some things I wouldn't have learned if I had decided otherwise. One of those things learned is how peopple think and the different levels that people think at. I have learned how to communicate better with people and get on their level of thinking so a good conversation can come out of it. I have found value in my attending college because it is helping me to complete my goal of getting my degree in psychology so I can help better the world and understand people better. I think that this major I have chosen will help me in life more then anything because I will know how to better myself and others lives.

Jacob

I have gotten that school is an important factor in life. In this day in time there is no way to be successful without a college education. I believe that my college experience has been a learning process because I have experienced the loss of my grandmother and how to cope with that along with going to school and how to balance supporting myself while being a full time student. This experience has taught me how to succeed in a job, how to manage my time and how to be a very successful man in life. Attending school has taught me how to be responsible at my job and how to be reliable. I have learned that just like in a job, if I don't show up there is valuable information and time that could be lost

Jillian

I have gotten many things out of my college experience, but I would say the most important thing college has taught me is perseverence. Before I attended my school, I would give up on things at the slightest sign of adversity, but being in school has taught me that anything worth having is worth working for.

Portia

Since I've been in college, I've learned some of the tools I will need to open my own business. I've also learned about what employers look for and what they expect. In my major, we learn the different styles of managing a company and the keys to successfully keeping that company alive. Some of the teachers are even business owners that can answer the many questions students have about owning and operating their own business. My school is small enough to get one on one time with the teachers and the offer tutoring for any class. I've met many interesting people that have many of the same goals as I do.

Ariana

I have learned that college is not about just living it up and going to parties. I witness people like this every day and to me college is about getting your life in order. You are in college to get a successful job in life and get you on the right track to where you need to be going. So many people think they can just come to college and do whatever they want. I've learned that college is the real deal and if you want to succeed in life, then don't mess up your chances of getting a good job by partying too much in college.

Brittany

My college experience has been that of much learning, within and outside the classroom. I learn so many new topics from the professors in class that will directly relate to the career I choose and I very grateful for that. I also learn so much from the college community itself. The diverse students offer new perspectives on viewing different aspects on the world and an individual's impact. I also learn a lot just from the friends I have made and what they have shown me about how college is important to them. It has been very valuable to attend this school because I don't think I would have received these same kind of benefits from attending a less diverse school and I feel as though that I am better prepared for my career beyond college because of it.

Brittany

Out of my college experiance so far, I have learned about my major and what to expect when I graduate. Every single one of my professors that I have had presented videos, activities and guest speakers in my major field. Their goal is to make each student feel comfortable when they graduate and step out into the real world and prepare for their first job. Even more, my professors are so dedicated to their students. They want each of us to do well and succeed. That is why I chose to be a teacher myself. In attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I have really felt myself wanting to be the kind of teacher that my teachers were to me: inspiring, dedicated and caring.

Kathleen

For me, attending college was never an option. In high school my parents made it clear that I would achieve high grades, maintain leadership roles, and rack up volunteer hours so I could attend the university of my choice with scholarships in hand. Essentially everything I did in high school was done for college. But I didn’t really understand the value of college until I got here. At the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I am enrolled in both the Business Honors Program and the University Honors Program; both are academically competitive programs with a focus on volunteering and career opportunities. After less than a semester of college, I am already beginning to see the merits of being active and involved. Attending school and participating in organizations allows me incredible networking opportunities; I get to hear speakers from the business community, have dinner with banking executives and entrepreneurs, and even attended a convention with the authors of the New York Times bestseller “Freakonomics.”In short, the college experience is about more than what you can learn from the classroom and textbooks. Attending university is an opportunity to meet people, network, and find a way to follow your dreams.

Stephanie

What I have gotten out of my college experience is the value of nutrition and how important it is for people to understand the nutrients your body needs. People wouldn't be nearly as sick or unhappy with themselves if they took care of their body instead of taking medications. The body is meant to heal itself and pills only push off the side effects for the time being.

Cassondra

One of the main things that I have gained from my college experience is self-sufficiency. I have learned, not only how to take care of myself and live on my own, but also how to motivate myself to go to class and get work done. In the past, I would have had my parents to motivate me either through threat of immediate punishment or through encouragement. I would have been home most of the time so I would have had fewer encounters with temptations that would distract me from my schoolwork. Now I have to deal with those temptations and motivate myself without fear of immediate punishment and I find those abilities to be useful in many aspects of life and not just in my educational career. I am now more self-sufficient because of these abilities and because taking care of myself has been thrust upon me, and when I am on my own in the future I will take obstacles as they come in stride.

courtney

What I have learned from being in college is to work as a teram member. In just about every class that I had been in we had at least had to work in a group a few times. it hepled me realize that in order to get through school you have to work with someone, and that also applies to when you are in the work force. Although you might not like what the job is as long as you work as a team you will get it done and it will all be in the past. Study hard and get good grades, like our parents told us, doesnt cut it any more, you have to be more then just a test score you have to be amazing or a stand out student.

Elyse

I have grown into my own person while i have been here not only because i have learned new things but alot of things have happend to me here that hadnt happened to me before.

Michelle

i have learned so much so far though out my college experience, that i can do anything i put my mind if i imply myself.

Dacota

My college experience has been short, but has already taught me more about the world and about myself than anything else I have ever been through. I have lived overseas, learned foreign languages, been through personal experiences, but nothing has shaped me like college has. Not only am I receiving an amazing education to prepare me for my future career, I am getting the building blocks to help me move towards being successful in other aspects of my life as well. With Greek life doors of opportunity have opened to me and with clubs and organizations, campus participation has opened myeyes to a larger, more diverse world. Yes, even larger than travelling over the ocean! College is the BEST experience anyone could ask for. Especially me.

Ethan

I have experienced a new world since entering college. I was always afraid that when I went to college everything would change, and I would be all alone, but I realized new environments aren't bad. They give the chance to make new memories, and make new friends which seems strange at first, but it is something that a person will probably do multiple times throughout their life. It has allowed me to change my opinion of meeting new people, which has given me a new outlook on people. Throughout all of my life I have always been comfortable with my friends and family around me and now I am also comfortable with the new wonderful people I have met at college. UNC Charlotte has provided a great atmosphere for my college experience and I look foward to my remaining years there. I would suggest UNCC to any upcoming freshman and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and let college create new memories and opertunities for them. Without this experience my life would be quite boring and would provide me with no new experiences or any career possibilities.

Julie

I have learned a lot of new things throughout my freshman year. I am happy that I get to go back to school and keep learning more about the Criminal Justice system. Everything I have learned so far will always be remembered and will help me become a better student and future employee in the Criminal Justice system.

Brittany

Over the past three years, I have expanded myself as a person. I now have new outlooks on different races and cultures along with dedicating myself to become the best that I could be in academia. I have gotten a sense of accomplishment from attending UNCC that I have not recieved from anything else that I have done. Attending college has allowed me to be exposed to new subjects that I have never thought about. I has broadened my knowledge and also my cultural influence. I have always lived and attended schools that were not very diverse in race and ethnicity. Attending college, where people come together from all over, has allowed me to become more aware and respectful of these different opportunities. I believe that these new experiences that I have gotten, that I would not have been able to experience anywhere else, has set me up for a positive future where I am better understanding of myself and those around me.

Jennifer

I believe that the most valuable thing that i have gotten out of my college experience is responsibility. college is really the first time in my life that i have had to live away from my parents and fend for myself. i have had to learn to manage my time to fit my schedule. i havent had my parents there to tell me when to wake up, when to do my homework, that dinner was ready or even when to go to sleep. everything that i have done in college has been my decision so only i can take responsibility for my successes and failures.

Ahmad

The most important characteristic I attained as a college student was that of responsibility. As a high school student, I lived at home, had no expenses, and constantly had my parents reminding me to study. The term responsibility was not in my vocabulary. This all changed when I became a college student. Although as a college student I still stayed at home, my parents did not continue the privileges I became accustomed to. The first major responsibility I was exposed to was planning my own schedule. As an IB student, my classes were already planned out for me. The next responsibility I had was getting a job. Now that I was a college student my parents were no longer going to pay for my expenses such as school supplies, gas, and etc. Finally, the last major responsibility I had was managing my own time. As a college student, I had so much free time and was at liberty to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Studying, as one can imagine, was not one of my top priorities. However, seeing my first semester grades made me realize that some time management changes needed to be made.

nick

I have started learning how to persue a career in accounting. '

See

My college experience has taught me to be more social and has taught me the value of time management and saving money. As an Art major I do spend a lot of time and a lot of money working of class projects. It is one hundered percent worth the time and money but I do wish they supplied the majority of the supplies for the classes because my financial aid grants do not at all cover for anything which in return I have to have a part time job. Juggling a part time job and being a full time student takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Over all the majority of my experiences at my college has been positive and I am proud to be a student of my college.

Amber

In just one short semester at UNC Charlotte I have gotten a lifetime of experiences that I know I couldnt get at home. Starting with just acemdemic lessons, I have learned so much. One of the biggest things I learned is that attendance is extremely important. You can miss so much by just missing one class. Also anytime you have free and youre thinking that you should study, use that time. I'm not saying to not go out and have fun, but you are paying to get an education of a lifetime. Aside from acedemics, I have made some of the best friends at UNC Charlotte. One big thing I noticed is how kinda everyone is down there and that helped me be polite to everyone I meet. This is just a great place to live and learn and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful college experience.

Going to school has opened so many new doors for me as a student and as a young woman. Before I decided to go off to college I was very much a homebody and was afraid to leave me family but I tried it out and I have never regretted it. Being at Charlotte has taught me so much in so many different areas of my life. I have met some amazing friends and although I was mature and independent before it has exceeded my expectations for myself as a responsible adult. I have been involved which I was always too scared to do and it has been an amazing experience. There is so much I could say to explain to you how much I have gotten from my one year of college but I am so excited about the next three years of my life. I have learned what I want to do with my future, teach children. This past school year has given me the drive and the passion to help children with their education. I don't know how much more I could have gotten.
