Cory

Make sure you let your child go where they want, and dont make money be a determinning factor in not going to college because the money you spend for college will more than pay for it self when you are making more money a year than you paid for your entire college education.

Patricia

Make sure to be true to yourself. Don't hesitate to listen to your heart and not your head at least once in your life.

Make sure you really know what you want to do before diving into the college experience. I go to one of the least expensive in the country and the journey has still been an expensive one. It is easy to get side tracked when you are newly independent but you must maintain your focus and remember that it is only a short period of time in the grand sceme of things, you must buckle down. The more you keep your goals in sight the more you can gleen from your classes and your experiences in college. It may seem that the friends whom want you to 'have fun' are your true ones but they are only temporary 'drinking buddies'. Your real friends are the ones that will help you to be all you have it in yourself to become, keep them close. Be ready, be focused, be successfull!

My advice to parents and students is to visit the college that you believe you want to attend. Visit some colleges your senior year in highschool. Get as much information you can from each college and go through and see what best fits your personality, your goals, and your life style. Choose the college for yourself not for your friends or girl friend or boy friend. Do it for yourself. For the parents I would say be very intersted in what school your son/daughter is looking at. Help them with the process and support them in every way. The reason why I say this is that my parents didn't take one interest in where I was going or what I was plannuing to do after highschool. All I really recieved from them was one question where are you going? That was it they weren't happy for me. They didn't even help me or support me when I went to orientation or left for college. They never saw my dorm or now my apartment. So parents believe in your son/daughter and support them with their decision.
