The first-place winner receives $10,000 and is invited to the Kennedy Library in May to accept his/her award. The second-place winner receives $1,000. Up to five remaining finalists each receive $500. The nominating teacher of the first-place winner will be invited to the Kennedy Library in May to receive the John F. Kennedy Public Service Grant in the amount of $500 for school projects encouraging student leadership and civic engagement. All winners receive a hardcover copy of John F. Kennedy's 'Profiles in Courage' book. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
