What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

So far during my college experience, I have learned a lot of things. Some of the most important things I have learned is responsibility, leadership, discipline, and time management. Attending college has been valuable to me because I am meeting new people and learning new things every day that is making me into a more productive person in society. Attending college is helping me to achieve my long term goal of becoming a successful multi-business owner.

I have learned so much, and not just general things like high school, but learning in specific areas that truly interest me and I want to make a living of. It is so beneficial and so much more enjoyable than any past classes I have taken elsewhere. I have also grown far more independent and conquered some fears that have been a life-time weakness. Now that I am an adult and have to take care of myself and live on my own I have had to challenge my fears and I have triumphed over them. I've grown better at relating to others and improved my communication skills by making friends who are more different from me than anyone I have ever met before. I have also learned how much I always relied on my family and looked to them for support and I appreciate them so much more than I ever did.

I have always aspired to be a journalist, and being a student here has allowed me to excel on the staff of our student news magazine, Ke Alaka'i. I began as a staff writer and have worked my way up to become the head of multimedia and copy editor. In November I'll be attending a journalism conference in Kentucky, where I hope to get interviews with a number of newspapers across the nation. Being a student of the cultural studies program here helped a lot when I took 18 months off to volunteer as a service missionary in Lithuania. I used the knowledge I gained at BYU-Hawaii to better understand the culture, which helped greatly as I helped develop a free 3-level English class program there. I later incorporated the same program as a volunteer in Ireland working with immigrants who were non-native speakers. My experiences here also helped me to learn the Lithuanian language faster, as well as to have the people skills necessary to establish other service programs in the area. Our school's mission is to establish peace internationally, and my experiences here have helped mold my future goals around that mission.

Attending BYUH for several years now I have come to love the surrounding atmosphere that the campus has to offer. Not only is it a inexpensive school to attend tuition wise, but the spirit that the faculty and staff have that work here cannot be compared to any other 4 year school. They have been very supportive of my college career so far and have helped me a great deal so far. I can safely say that I can expect the same treatment that I have received thus far until I complete my education here and receive a degree in Business Management. Another wonderful experience that I have had here is that the lessons that I have learned from my fellow students will always stay with me. Being a church school, BYUH has great emphasis on forming study groups, setting appointments with teachers, offering tutor sessions, hands on experience, and also allowing most students real world experience through intership programs. I am thankful for the lessons that I have learned in college so far, and would like to thank everyone that makes it possible for me to do so.

I am the non-tradtional student, going back to school after raising my family, and thinking I am too "mature" to learn. I am learning that as I extend myself in each class, my knowledge base grows. I do bring wisdom and maturity to the classroom, and it is daunting at times to keep up with students that are more than half my age. But it is never too late to learn; if we stop learning, we die. The road is not easy, and I might have to study a little harder or a little longer for things to sink in, but each class brings new insights into the world and into myself. I am strengthening my body and my mind more than I ever thought possible.

Preparing me for life. That is what attending college is currently doing for me. With classes, majors, and degrees aside, I am earning skills that will allow me to navigate through the difficult maze we know as daily life. Understanding and overcoming the complexities of financial difficulties. Learning what the word "sacrifice" really means, as I fight the natural urge to satisfy personal desire in order to accomplish a higher goal...school, work, study, service. Sacrifices that prepare us to be able to balance life between school, family, religion, work, friends and personal desires. Developing relationships with others around you and then working together to accomplish a common goal. Its not always "what" you know that will help you progress in life but more often "who" you know. Asking the right questions and negotiating within a study group when a difference of opinion emerges. It's not just the degree or the amount of class material you retain. These "secondary" skills are often key elements in the success of our future. They often allow us to appy the degree and class material in the real world. And such preparation for life, to me, is invaluable.

Coming from a small town in Idaho filled of Caucasians, to an even smaller town on the island of Oahu full of students from over 77 different countries has presented me with a unique kind of education. Not only have I learned an abundance of my studied field in Biology, but I have been exposed to a myriad of different cultures and traditions. I have had the opportunity to interact with people in many countries and create friendships that will affect future generations. Small seeds have been planted in my heart that continually grow and will set up a foundation for peace. My eyes have been opened and the world has been brought into view from many new perspectives. If others see in the souls of the world what I can see, the world would be a brighter place. I could have taken English 101 at any university, but I never could have cultivated a love in my heart for so many people around the world, without the years spent at Brigham Young University Hawaii, in the small town of Laie.

Coming to college is something important for me because I know it'll take me to a level of excitement in the end of my journey which is well payed job. Sometimes I face the pain of struggle while in college but as I try my best everytime I feel comfortable and know that I can do it. Counselor, Professors are always available for you anytime when stuck in something which I don't know and I can always ask them. This helps me to never be scared to ask questions or raise comments while in college. Coming to college is fun because it's not only about doing homework and studying for an exam but it's also about meeting new people and making friends with them. These aren't just people from the U.S but people from foreign countries and other areas. I value this here in college because I'm able to talk with them and ask them about there cultures and what they do. This can be something I can learn and apply to my life.

So far, I have learned how to take care of myself as an independant and strong woman. I learned the importance of keeping my room clean, eating healthy, exercising often, and making time for myself to relax. College life can be very stressful, but I have learned how to organize my time so that I can also make time to have fun. Because I ended up changing majors, I learned that life can present you with the completely unexpected. I thought for my entire life I was going to be a musician, and then one day, I decided I wanted to be a Cultural Anthropologist! I have never been happier. It has been so valuable to attend because I have walked away with life lessons on how to deal with people you don't like, difficult situations, and even how to trust myself to do what is best for me. I have to be happy with myself in order for me to have great experiences. I also value my family more than ever, especially since I am so far away from home. I have never loved my sister and my mom more than I do now.

Davin

I had gained a spiritual knowledge and better understand to be honest. I do value to be honest and truthful. I know as long as I keep up all I have learned I know I will get far way in life. I love how the teacher are friendly and will be strict on thier grades and attendance. It encourage the habit to be on time. I now make sure i get to any meeting or activity 10 minutes early. These are some values I have gained at BYU Hawaii

My college experience has been challenging in many different ways. I have struggled to figure out who I would like to be, how to focus on my education while depression from being so homesick took over my life, how to create close friendships and think of others before myself, how to prioritize and make life changing decisions, and how to stay positive when negative thoughts consumed my mind because of rough experiences. Overall, I have enjoyed my college experience, and I have a lot of good memories that I will hold in my heart forever. I am thankful I was able to attend school so far from home, because it taught me how to appreciate what I have. It taught me that the grass is not always greener on the other side. I value my education from this school because I learned knew things about different cultures and made friends from all over the world. It was a long journey that taught me life lessons and helped prepare for life down the road.

College thus far has been a much needed change. In high school we used to wake up and have to be in class at a certain time or there were consequences, whereas in college it’s all on you. If you decide not to show up for a class you’re responsible for getting all your work and seeing if you can even make it up, because professors won’t come and hunt you down. We are adults now and responsible for our own actions. College has been very valuable to attend because even though I attended community college that some people view as a joke I still feel like I haven’t missed out on the learning. My professors have always been enthusiastic and shown a real passion for what they teach. I really missed that in high school. In the year that I’ve attended college my views on learning have changed drastically and that is in part to my professors. College is an experience that we take with us wherever we go; our future depends on our education and how hard we studied in school. At the end of the day its time to grow.

Zachary

While attending college I have learned many things. Mainly I’ve learned to be more open to ideas to better understand the people around me. Before, I was not interested in certain subjects but once I applied myself, the work became much more enjoyable. I enjoy being around people my age with the same goals and ambitions. My college experience has been very demanding and time consuming but all very worth it. I learned that in order to be successful you have to be involved with the school. The more involved you are the more likely you are to open different opportunities for yourself. College is about meeting people and preparing yourself for the real world to survive on your own with ease. I’m the first one in my family to attend college. My parents were not fortunate enough to attend college and I feel motivated to make them pleased. My motivation does not just come from my parents, but from me; because I don’t want money to be something that holds me back from my goals or ambitions, and by going to college and getting a higher education I know my determination will not run dry.

I have learn many valuable experiences, how to be a leader, how to listen, most importantly, how to be an effective teacher. I am grateful for these experiences, this college is important because of the close unity between students and teachers and also the huge diversity. I have learn how to work with different kinds of people and different cultures.

Since I began attending BYU-Hawaii I have learned more about myself and the world around me. For example I started out majoring in biology, and quickly learned that it was not for me. It had been suggested to me that I try accounting so I decided that I would. Changing my major showed me that although people have weaknesses in one area they also have strengths in others. Ever since I changed I have been much more successful, and happy with the way my education is going. This has been valuable to me for two reasons. First, I have found a way to be a beneficial member of society and enjoy what I do at the same time. And second, I know now that if I am unsuccessful that I can always find another way accomplish my goals in life.

Bonefacio Tun Uk wakes up everyday and empties the bucket that was used the previous night to wash his cloths. Most use an old broomstick jammed through the opening of a serrated two-liter coke bottle. The slang name for this type of washing machine is called the “Chucka Chucka” derived from the sound of splashing water. Bonefacio uses this same bucket to draw his bath water. The water is collected from a near by well, heated with an electric house iron, and then splashed on with a cup. I know this because Bonefacio was the first person I helped prepare to receive a baptism after the manner that John baptized Christ. Bonefacio was one of the happiest persons I have ever met. He didn’t even care that I couldn’t pronounce his Mayan name correctly. As a student at BYU-Hawaii I have learned to be grateful for the opportunities I have. I have learned to be aware that not all will have these prospects. I do my best to deserve what has been awarded me.

Knowldege is power and that is why education in so important. I came to college to gain an education so that I can better my life and the lives of others. I am studying to be a special education teacher because I know this is a way I can touch lives for good. While studying education, I also work as a tutor for third grade students. This job is so fulfilling as I am able to help these young children. So far in my college experience I have gained a greater love and appreciation for life. I have made friends from many nations and see how blessed I am as an American. I appreciate my family more now that I am far away from home. I have a greater love for children as I have been able to work with them and prepare to work with them in a greater capacity. By attending a christian college I have also gained a greater testimony of and love for Jesus Christ. I have gained a better view of the world around me and what is important in life. I am grateful for what I have recieved from a great college experience.

Alysha

At BYU-H Campus I have gotten out most memorable to me are the friendships I have made a will continue to make throughout my college years. Besides the work you put into the classes and on the court, friendships and fellowshipping others have always been positives to my beginning college experience. I have recieved countless amounts of supports from other peers which have put me through many trials or obstacles I faced and will face in the future. I can't do it alone, and like my home away from home I have my college "family" I can count on. College is great fun at BYU-H campus and it is special friendship you make here because of the different diversities but same moral goal each student has imprinted in their hearts. I love the spirit here and I believe being in Hawai'i, with the beach down the street, beautiful island life to adventure, and meeting people from all aroun the world, what can absolutely go wrong.

Roger

While attending school here, I have gained a greater perspective on the world, and how to live and work in it. Today, I went to class, and was one of four american students in a class of about 22; my work group for the class included a student from mainland China, and a student from Fiji. The experience gained here beyond the education is invaluable, because this place proves to the world that peace is possible, people from 70+ nations can get along, work together and learn from each other. Also, the applied experience that is available in all fields promotes the ability to enter into the workforce of one's desired career. I am proud to be a part of this school, and know that I will enter into my field better prepared than students who have relied on large classroom learning, with little or no individual instruction and no applied experience, and especially that have had not had the chance to interact with people from so many places and work effectively with them.

Unlike students that graduate from other universities across the globe, I have had the opportunity to make relations with students from every sinlge continent except Antarctica, of course. At my school, there are representitives from over seventy countries. There is not only a nice diversity of students here, but an overwhelming amount of students from various cultures, who can offer their perspective on what it is like to live in their home country. Each student at my university can not help but let the rich cultures seep into their soul. This school has taught me tolerance, respect, and given me an incredible amount of love for people who are not of my native culture and country. These aspects alone give me a leading edge when facing the career world, upon my graduation in December 2011. I will be prepared to make international relations with a backbone of understanding and respect for all cultures. Tolerance and understanding is key for success in any career. These qualities will open the windows of opportunity while I work to help people from all walks of life find a common goal and meet their needs accordingly.

Christopher

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that there are many trials that one must go through as they are adjusting to the real world. From the comfort of home and having most if not all needs provided for oneself by parents, one can truly be able to learn how to fend for themselves and also have the experience of learning who can be trusted to help one out in times of need or how dependable oneself is to others who may require assistance. College is able to show this and more since one is in an environment where a person is able to grow and learn to be on their own with others in the same situation. it is why i believe college is a definite step forward to being able to be a productive member of society.

There are many reasons as to why it is important to attend college. When students experience a post secondary education, they have the opportunity to read books and listen to the lectures of top experts in their fields. This stimulation encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for additional growth and development. One of the goals of BYU-Hawaii is to prepare men and women with the intercultural leadership skills necessary to promote world peace and to be a good influence in families, professions, and social affiliations. Although I am only a freshman, I feel that making the decision to attend a university as prestigious as BYU-H will help my future in becoming an example to others. I have had such a positive college experience so far; however, the road will not be easy, I know that at some point I will want to give up—but I know that when the whole experience is over and I receive my College Degree as a graduate of 2014, will be the most rewarding feeling.

Tom

Because of my having come to this university, I have had many opportunities to meet people that will potentially help me in my future and whom I will also have occasions to help as well. I have also been able to construct a strong foundation to build my career and my life upon. The teachers are not only experienced in their fields, they also keep up with what is currently happening in order to help us, the students, be ready for the real world as soon as we get there. This school has changed my life and I would not trade the experiences I have had at this school for anything.

Logan

My college experience will begin on September 15, 2010. I am very much looking forward to the cultural experience that I expect to receive at BYU Hawaii. It is a small campus of 2500 students but over seventy countries are represented. It means so much to me that part of their mission statement is to help students in their efforts to influence the establishment of peace internationally. I plan to study International Business. I hope to be prepared with the intercultural and leadership skills necessary to promote world peace and international brotherhood, to address world problems, and to be a righteous influence in families, professions, civic responsibilities and social affliations. Thanks so much for considering me for this scholarship.

Knowledge. What more could someone want from a school? With the power of knowledge, we can reach our fullest potential in our desired vocations. BYU-Hawaii has offered me not only an oustanding academic education, but also a cultrural and social education. Whatever field we decide to go into we must learn how to cooperate with people from different backrounds and cultures in order to survive. I know that what I have learned in my classrooms as well as in my social surroundings in Hawaii, I will use in my furture career and it will allow me to succeed in the way i was meant to.

Daniel

BYU-Hawaii has been valuable to me in that it has allowed me to gain different perspectives on life through interacting with different people from around the world. These places include Ghana, Mexico, Chile, Tonga, Samoa and Korea just to name a few. It has given me the opportunity to think freely for myself and to do so with a much more open mind with the additional perspectives offered by those from places I knew very little about before I came to BYU-Hawaii.

Elizabeth

I have gotten so many positive experiences out of my college experience. There are unlimited amounts of valuable lessons I have learned by attending college. Some of these include being able to learn responsibility on a much higher and more academically focused level. I have matured greatly and in all the right areas. I understand now the importance of learning, and the even bigger importance of gaining a strong and respectable education. I have been able to achieve a very lot academically, but also socially and mentally. A college experience doesn't compare to anything else. It is amazing what it does for a person's life if they simply apply themselves, engaging in campus activities and strive to learn and expand their knowledge through classes taken and through self learning.

Cameron

I haven't attended BYUH yet, but I am really looking forward to the wide variety of different cultures of people and being able to have the ability to broaden my knowledge. I feel it a real priviledge to attend and am very grateful for all the help that has been extended to me.

Reydonoel

I have learned that there is so much to learn and that we cannot learn everything but we can learn something one at a time. As a college student, I find out that each subject that I took needs a thorough study and I do not understand all of them. That is why each is given the option to focus on a major. Though I wanted to be a doctor, I ended taking a different major since I find out that being a doctor is not really what I wanted to be. My ability takes me to a different path and that is to work on computers and do business. Currently, I am taking two majors and I am proud to say that after being in school for almost four years I am ready to face the bigger world outside. The knowledge that I have acquired in my studies have helped me prepare for the challenges that I know I have to face after school is over.

I have not only gained an education at a high quality university but have also learned how to be a better husband and father. I have learned what it means to save and learn how to use our monies more intelligently. I have gained a better appreciation for those that have gone before me to make these types of opportunities available to not only myself but all the others that are here with me. I have learned how to budget my time between classes, work, and family and the balance that needs to be had there so not one takes over any of the others. I have also learned the importance of gaining a higher education and the life that it will give me when I complete my time here.

Thomas

College experience was reality knocking me on the head, telling me that my destiny now rested solely at my fingertips for the taking if I but chose to reach out and take hold of it. Adults were no longer the authoritative disciplinarians within the educational arena as they seemed to be in retrospect, but rather respectable mentors who acknowledged me as one of their own: an adult, capable of responsibly dictating my own life. Where to attend school, where to live and with whom, how to pay for the expenses, what classes to take, whether to even go to class or not - all part of a once untouched array of decisions that had altogether become mine for the making. No longer was there anyone to tell me exactly what to do with my life; I was now the dictator of my own destiny. I quickly nurtured and matured my senses of responsibility and self-discipline, realizing that if I was to become all that I was meant to become in life, it was no one else's obligation but my own. Now with destiny in hand, I eagerly look forward to making the most of the journey towards my future.

Torianne

From my college experience I have become more culturally aware and more self motivated. I realize that my success depends on the effort and hard work that I put into it, and I want to get the most out of it that I can.

Barbie

There have been many experiences I have learned at BYUH that have changed my outlook on life and brought knowledge to help me in everyday life. From the knowledge I have gained at BYUH I feel more confident to aid others in life, weather the storms in my own life, and live life with joy. I have been thrown in situations where I now know how to work in groups and on my own, but also the professional mannerism needed, how to interact with familiar persons and unfamiliar persons, and how to get the best result. This has helped my interaction not only in the work force, but with personal relationships too. All in all, the situations, teaching, and environment I was given to learn has helped me gain the knowledge to survive in life and teach it to others I come in contact with.

I can say that it is very crucial to manage, use and make the time for studying. Most of students are busy unless they become lazy students. They might have only a few hours to study since they have a part time of job. Last spring term, It was difficult for me to create enough time for studying. Everytime I was just chased with the homework. It doesn't mean that I was lazy. I did my best in my studying. Every night after my job, I woke up until 2am and studied for the test. Through this experience, I realized how important to use time wisely. To accomplish this, I needed to make some good goals. There were some goals: Physical and mental things, friend relationships and academic goals. It worked well. Before I made the goals, I was feeling dull. But these goals made me feel the inspiration to become a better student. I could focus more on what the most important things to do in the limited time. I didn't expect how busy the university life is, but now I might have found one of the solutions in the hectic time.

I tried college when i graduated in 2008, it was what your suppose to do. Since then I've worked and not really planning my life. I take pictures for fun and have always enjoyed photography. Just recently it hit me as to how serious I am about photography and discovered I would really love to make a career of photography. Without this any scholarships college unfortuanalety is very expensive. I plan on making the best of my schooling and would love this opportunity. Ryan T. Wells

I have learned so much from attending this school. I have grown into a culturally diverse adult. I have respect for others from all around the world and feel they are my brothers and sisters. I am grateful everyday for this school and feel very blessed to be attending such a credible school. I think that this school has taught me many things including; being academic enriched, a responsible adult, increased faith in my religion and a new love for all the culturally diverse. I learn something new every day and cherish my education. I want to graduate from this school and hope to find the aid that will allow me to follow my dreams and receive my undergraduate degree.

Importance of the spirit of God every day and every moment without his love and blessings we would not be blessed the way we have been blessed so far, some of the other experiences that has been valuable to me are the understanding of different people and there personality since I m a Social Work major this school is great for me, because we have students from 70 different countries understanding them helps me in my major, after graduation and in future I would want to be a counsilor in schools that being over here at BYU-Hawaii has been a great experience.

My college experience has taught me so much about life. By getting my education I learned more than just academics. BYUH is a wonderful college with a great enviornment, and faculty that are accomidating, and friendly. During this time I have also learned about life after college, and how my education is preparing me for it. I am getting an education so that I can work, and help others through my work. College has taught me that.

Lani

Growing up in a typical American home, I had not been exposed to many other ways of life. While attending BYUH, I was given the opportunity to hear about cultures I had never even known existed. I gained a respect for students at my school who had overcome difficult circumstances to attend a university. I realized how blessed I have been to grow up in America and have the opportunites that are readily available. College has made me step up and be responsible for my own success. While living at home my parents were very giving of their money, but once I went to college it was up to me to earn my way. I got a job and learned how to budget and understand what was really needed and what was just a selfish want. Attending any university would have probably given me similar experiences in some cases, but the ability I had to gain lifelong friends from literally all walks and ways of life is something not many universities can offer. I learned not to just be concerned about myself, but constantly find ways to assist others achieve success as well.

Adam

I've gotten more than I expected out of my college experience. I thought it would just be going to classes and studying, but it's so much more. I have met so many different people from all over the world. I grew up here in Laie, Hawaii and haven't traveled very much. It was nice to even meet people from the mainland US. I am able to share my talents with them by showing them my home. It has been valuable to attend classes and due to the small class sizes my professors know who I am and can answer any questions I have had. I also can participate in class discussions. My teachers have taught and encouraged me a great deal. They have opened my eyes to see other peoples' points of view and the business world. I'm really interested in investment finance and have opened a online trading account to learn how to trade and hopefully make money. I've already completed 36 credits in less than 9 months and have a GPA of 3.7.

Mailani

I have grown so much since I've started my college experience here at BYU-Hawaii. I have gained so much confidence because of students and professors who've been encouraging. They make me want to give my opinion on issues and things we talk about in and out of the classroom. I have gained the greatest friends, two wonderful people who've become my sisters. I feel so fortunate to have been able to come to BYUH and I can't wait to be able to see what the rest of my college experience will be like. I love being able to work and study with people who have similar goals as me and with professors who have worked their whole lives to teach students like me about my future career and my passions. I am truly grateful for my college experience I have had thus far. It has been valuable to attend because of the knowledge and relationships I have gained. It has been valuable because of the talents I've been able to help grow and thoughts I've shared. I become more and more amazed each day about the things I gain from attending this university!

It has always been my dream to become a nurse. I have spent a majority of my life taking care of people and it has always made me smile to know that I am making a difference. Going back to school is helping me to reach that goal. Attending school is giving me the knowledge and experience I am going to need to excel in my goal of becoming a nurse. I love being around people who are as goal oriented as I am. It also gives me the communication and interactive skills I need in order to excel.

I received my Bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University-Hawaii in International Business Management. I became proficient in topics such as organizational behavior, marketing, and finance. These skills will assist me in my goals to help our society grow in healthy and sustainable ways. However, I attribute most of my growth to my daily associations with students from over 75 different countries. I learned so much about other cultures which helped me to analyze issues with a unique perspective. I learned how to appreciate people for who they really are and not how I wish they were which has helped me in my preparation for grad school. Another huge part of my learning experience was starting a campus organization called the Ocean Appreciation club, which allowed many people to maintain a healthy coastal ecosystem in our local area.

By attending college at BYU-Hawaii, I have had the opportunity to interact with students from all over Asia and the Pacific Islands. I have been introduced to so many new cultures and ways of thinking. I have lived a whole new liestyle here in the country of Hawaii. I have gained a respect for the land and an openmind to peoples many ways of living. Through attending this school I have learned so much as a Biology major. This private intitution has not helped me growing intellectually, but personally and spiritually, as the goals of this school match up with my religion as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

i feel like more close to nature and god, i feel like im enjoying my life in a way i ve never done before.

Attending Brigham Young University-Hawaii has allowed me to acquire the knowledge needed for many things including simple, everyday things, to big events and accomplishments. For example, on March 14, 2010, I competed in a beauty pageant that not only judged on outer beauty, but also inner beauty and pureness of the heart. I had earned and was awarded the title Young Miss Hawaiian Island Beauty, the highest title within my age category. I have also accomplished many other things since attending BYU-Hawaii like making the Dean's List, auditioning and becoming a theater PCC night show dancer, participated in many cultural club activities gaining cultural knowledge from this university that has students from over 70 different countries, and above all, I have achieved a stronger testimony within the church along with fulfilling my church calling. Along with all these things that I have accomplished, I have learned to not only become more independent, but to manage and prioritize my time between earing a great GPA, work, dance, activities, and school. My college experience has been one of a chaos and excitment, in which I have learned much, both in the classroom and in everday experiences.

I have come to a realization of the importance of gaining experience and knowledge through my everyday classes so that I can help those in my chosen field of psychology.

I have made a lot of new friends here at BYU-HI, most of them lifetime friends. People here are friendly and I have learned so much from them. The experiences I have had here, have helped me to grow and progress in life. For example, learning to be independent and stand on my own two feet instead of relying on my parents for everything. i have also learnt the value of hardwork. There are times when i just want to stay in bed and miss class, but constant emails from my professors push me to attend class, along with the knowledge that attendance contributes a lot to your grade. I am so grateful I came here, it has changed my life in ways i never thought it could. My attitude towards life has changed as well, i usually wait until last minute to start an assignment, but now I prefer getting it over and done with before the due date. By doing that i actually have more free time to socialize and participate in school activities and services.

It has been valuable to attend college because education cannot be taken away from you, in most cases the better education you have, the more abundant the opportunities. I have gotten out of my college experience a desire to succeed, new friends and the ability to give back to the community. I plan to get a 4 year degree in PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION and to help single mothers/fathers and people with disabilities own their first homes. I plan to start an (NGO) or non-profit to accomplish this. I thank you in advance for your consideration ! Regards, Daryl Henry Trainor
