What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Lauren

Being apart of a university is an amazing experience. I love being able to become a person that I am proud of. I want to be able to become a lawyer that will work with abused children and motheres. Eventually, I want to be able to open a homeless shelter to help those in need. College has created networks and long lasting relationships that I am so blessed to have found.

Austin

I have had a great experience at FSU because of the amazing diversity of the classes I have been able to attend, as well as the many student activities provided by the university. It has been valuable to attend this university I have gotten a great education thus far in my degree (computer science) and feel like I have learned so much from each class. I am also a very active person and enjoy sports so the two story gym has been great which is free to students. The athletic events are also amazing. I enjoy attending the basketball and football games whenever possible. I have had a great time at Florida State University, which is the reason I am strongly considering getting a graduate degree after finishing my BA in Computer Science.

As a freshman in college I havent had that many experiences, however attending a universoty like FSU has allowed me to open my eyes and become more acceptive of diversity. Attending college has broadened my interest to subjects I would have never even contemplated learnign about. With the wide variety of classes that universities and colleges offer, each student is sure to find their niche. Moving away from home to attend college has also forced me to mature a lot quicker than most who stayed in the same city. It has made me appreciate my home and all that my mother does for me. Although it has physically taken me away from my home, it has brought me closer to my mother, who has become my best friend, and to my three sisters, who i care for and talk to every day. Everyone should continue their education at a college or university. The knowledge it leaves you with will help you in your future and the experiences you have will provide you with memories that will last a life time.

Maren

I have learned how to better deal with tough situations that life throws my way. I have also learned what I want to do with my life and how to achieve it. It has definitly been valuable to attend because I now have knowledge in my field I would have otherwise not attained. I have matured drastically since I moved out of my parents home to a new and strange town because I had to learn just what all it takes to survive on my own. I love my school and I love what I have learned from it as well.

I have recieved so much out of my college experience thus far. I have learned how to live on my own, what it means to be yourself (and to create your own sense of identity), and how important it is to have a close-knit group of friends. I've learned that delicious (healthy) dishes CAN be cooked in a microwave and that, in times of no money, a trashcan with some caution tape makes a great Christmas tree. Attending my undergraduate college is possibly the most important and life-impacting thing I have done in my life so far. The education and worldly knowledge I am gaining is invaluable and the experiences I have had are shaping me into a strong, educated, and selfless woman. I am extremely proud of my acomplishments thus far and I know that my undergraduate education has laid the groundwork for success throughout the rest of my life.

I have been able to figure out what my goals are for my life from my college experience. I attended a big university for a year, came back home and currently attend a small, community college, and have finally figured out where I want to go in life. I learned my biggest passion in life - music - is what I wish to pursue and the field in which I wish to find a career. I am using where I am now as a jumping off point for where I am going to go next year. I hope to attend a four year school and major in music business. After college, I plan to travel, intern, get a job at a record label, and, ultimately, open my own independent label. My college experience has been valuable to me because it has helped me learn my direction in life.

Alexa

I have learned a lot aout ymself and the world aorund me as a student at a university as diverse as Florida State. It has been of great value of me to attend and to continue attending as I pursue my degree.

Stephanie

The decision to return to college at age 44 has given me insight into today's competitive students and technology. I t has been valuable because it has inspired me to continue with my education, even after a lapse in my studies. I was laid off from my retail management job in January 2010. Due to the economy, I was not able to find a job as quickly as I would have liked. After being on unemployment for several months, I decided to pursue my educational goals once again. I have been thoroughly enriched by my first semester and even though I found a part-time job, I continued taking 6 hours this past Fall. After final exams were over last week, I am proud that I have gotten an A in both classes. This was enough motivation for me to continue until I complete my education!

I have become a whole new person because of my college experince. Not only am I more educated but I believe I am a better, more well-rounded person. I have learned from my experinces and the people I have meet. My college town has really become more than just a place I go to school but my home. I love my school everyday, when I go to learn and grow, but I also love the extra curricular actvities like the football games and baseball games. We even have a circus and all kinds of charity events to participate in. I have become involved with the community around my school for example Big Brothers Big Sisters, found a church home, and I have a part time job at a local restaurant. It has been valubale because of the new qualities I now posess. Qualities such as leadership, loyalty, and responsibility. I feel I will be a better professional in the working world and also a better friend in future relationships. I also have stronger passions and desires for my future goals. I feel my college has prepared me to conquer my goals and fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor.

I feel that college has opened my mind to an infinite amount of opportunities. I am starting school again in January of 2011, and I am more excited than ever to learn as much as I can. I feel that learning, especially in a college setting, is the best resource we have to bettering ourselves and preparing our youth for the hardships of the real world. I have greatly enjoyed the college courses that I have already attended, and the experience has taught me to be disciplined and dedicated to what I am doing, and to not let anything stop me from succeeding at my goals. Life has thrown me a lot of curve balls, but with the determination that I have to succeed, I am ready to face my hardest chapter, which will be getting my Bachelor's degree. I am nervous, anxious, and excited to start on this venture but, I can also use all the help I can get . Thank you greatly for your time and consideration.

Ana

Before going to college I used to think that I was going just for academic reasons, so that I could have a better future with more opportunities later in life. After being away for only one year I have gained so much more than I could've asked for. I have grown as a person and I can finally understand why people say you change in college. When starting college I had already picked my major and I love it. However, FSU offers a variety of other majors and minors, some of which have started to interest me. Learning about different career opportunities, majors and jobs have helped me set more goals for myself and to aspire more things in life. I have also become involved in a cultural groups, which has helped me learn more about my culture and meet people with my heritage. Finally, I feel like I have also grown in my faith. I have become very involved with the Catholic group and have met many people who I'm sure I'll be friends with even after college. Without these experiences, I'm sure I wouldn't have grown as much as I have so far.

The most valuable experience that I have gotten out of my college experience is confidence-confidence in many different aspects of my life. First, I have gained confidence in my ability to simply live and be an adult. I was extremely nervous about moving out of my mother's house and living on my own. Having to get out of bad by myself, having to cook and clean for myself, having to handle important paper work by myself were things that seemed impossible to me. But, I now feel that I can take care of business alone and quite well. Secondly, I feel that I have gained confidence in my able to perform. As I music major, I began swimming in a large pond, but I was a small fish. I was intimidated, and began to think I wasn't as talented as my peers. It occurred to me that I'll never make it if I continue to sulk in my misery(and they were older than me, of course they are going to have more experience than me). I put myself out there, and gained so much more confidence than I ever imagined I could.

Cassandra

As cheesy or cliched as it might sound, the most valuable thing I have gotten out of my college experience thus far, is self discovery. I have started to actually discover who I am as a person in this world. I used to be a Biology Major on the pre-med track, thinking that science was okay in high school and being a doctor would make me the most money. People would ask me what I wanted to do with pre-med and I never really knew the answer to it because I didn't know what I would do. I just wanted to make money. I soon found out that not only was it tougher than I had imagined, but that I also had absolutely no interest in the field. It took me a while to realize that I should actually be going after what I love, no matter the success it brings. Despite, being unsupported by my family, I have since changed my major to Media Productions and Creative Writing, in hopes of being a writer for NBC and then someday my dream job of being on "Saturday Night Live".

Briana

So far out of college I have gotten a number of great friendships, a good on-campus job, and some great experience and advice from a few professors. I have become more independent. I've also been lucky to attend some once in a lifetime opportunities meeting and working with various famous and professional people. My experience has been valuable because without college I would not be able to do what I want to do in life. It has made me a more responsible and better person.

Alyssa

I attend FSU, which is eight hours away from where my family lives. I have never been away from them for as long as I have been while attending college. I am starting to learn how to be independent, which will help me later on in my life and especially with my career. I have never really been independent until I started college last fall, and now I am learning how to live without my family always being under the same roof and learning how to deal with money, people and school problems myself. I am able to see the growth I have made even in only one semester.

Chantal

When I first started FSU, I had this picuresque dream of my college life. I thought I would be invincible, probably partying and somehow attaining a perfect GPA. I thought that I would be the first doctor in my family full of nurses. When classes started I quickly realized that this semester was going to be a trying one. I was addicted to studying, to the point where I wouldn't eat just to finish studying. I never went out, and while my friends would be coming home at three AM from having a good time, I was up as well studying. Through out all this studying I realized things were only going to get worse, this was only my freshman year. After the whirlwind of a semester, I realized the heartbreak and the things I had to let go of. Medicine wasn't my passion, it was something I felt obligated to do. I got involved in clubs at my school such as the College Democrats and the Womens caucus. That's when I realized this is what I'm meant to do. I changed my major to Political Science, in hopes for a successful Spring semester. Never Quit.

Mainly what I have gotten out of my college experience, is that I have been challenged. I enjoy working toward completing my college education. More than anything I want to finish college, and use my degree to encourage others to do the same. I have been able to take my college experence and help my children reconize the power of determination. College isn't easy for some, especially those returning after almost 15 years, if I lead by example they will follow.

Lynsey

In my college experience i have started to get an amazing education, not only though school but learning to stand on my own two feet. I have soon come to realize that rent, bills, and food really do add up. I go to work and school full time so i can pay for all of it sot hat one day i won't have to work at a pay-by-the-hour job. I have learned to sacrifice things that aren't as important, to achieve what i came here for. Ambulances are expensive taxi cab's, and true friends will sit around the house with you shivering in the cold, just to be together. This life may be hard, but i wouldn't trade it for the world. Florida State has been the most valuable experience thus far in my life.

rachel

The best experience that I have gotten out of my college experience is being involved in so many diverse organizations. Growing up I attended a private Jewish school and was surrounded solely by Jewish people. With a beautifully diverse campus, I became a part of an amazing sisterhood, great honor societies and associations, and got to work as a Teachers Assitant and meet many students who have the same motivation for their academics as I do. It has been an amazing experience to work with different professors and teacher freshman students at such a young age. If it wasnt for me attending Florida State, I would have never been able to get this diverse educations I have always been dreaming of.

I have learned that there is more to life then from where i was living in my hometown of Ft. Myers FL. I went to a school of 500 and i was scared to come to FSU but i have made amazing friends who will be life long friends. I have become invloved with my community through organizations that my school has offered. I have finally become my own person, not the person my parents were trying to make me be. Going away to college at FSU made me grow up and become a true adult. I have taken responsability of my life and actions and i can not wait to graduate and start my career as a nurse. I have also grown closer in my relationship with the Lord because of my attendence at FSU.

Brogan

So far at Florida State I have learned a lot about myself. The campus life is really great and I was lucky to live in a great dorm with really helpful staff members who really tried to get you involved with everything. My classes have been so much more than I expected. I figured they would be like a regular boring class but I have had great teachers that really make classes interesting and fun and I actually enjoy going to class. I have already learned how to manage my time and live on my own but there are always people at the school who are willing to help you with anything you need like classes or if you are just having a hard time adjusting to college life. I cannot imagine attending another school because everything at FSU is done with so much Seminole pride. The football games are the best example of why I love being a Seminole and it’s that feeling like you belong as you are cheering your team on. There is something for everyone and even when things get rough I am proud to be a Seminole and attend Florida State University.

Willony

I have gotten out of my college experience, the foundation on how to be a self-sufficient thinker, responsible, and independent creator of great accomplishments. It is invaluable to me, because it gave me a sense of teamwork, individual creativeness, intellectual challenge, and eagerness to be ready to the face the world and its imperfections. To not only be an individual, but a part of a community, which works together for the 'greater good', therefore, is our future generations to come.

Jamie

My college experience has taught me so much about myself and who I am. I have changed alot for the better during my time at FSU. It is amazing how much you learn about you and others around you. You will become such a better person. College is somehting no one should ever miss out on, it is a place to transition between living at home and living in the real world. The experience and knowledge for real life and the lessons that I have learned are those that I could not have received in any other atmosphere. To anyone contmeplating college I say do it, there is no investment better than one on your future, that is what a college education is. While there be sure to do anything and everything you want, get the most out of it because you can't do it later. So take out those loans and just stick through it, in the end not only will you have an amazing amont of knowledge but you will have had the absolute time of your life.

Entering my university I stepped for the first time into an overwhelmingly competitive environment. I felt drowned in the achievements of my colleagues. In a class of 300 students I felt hopeless and superfluous because I offered nothing more than all of the other students that had entered with equally impressive resumes and I feared that I couldn’t keep up. However, within a few months, I learned a very valuable lesson. Whenever I felt that I was drowning, I just needed to extend my hand and do one simple thing: ask for help. I learned the meaning and value of asking for help. It isn’t just about going to my organic chemistry professor’s office hours and asking him to complete a synthesis question that I haven’t attempted, it’s about working hard to reach the answer, and then asking him to lead me in the right direction. Help shouldn’t be a crutch, it should be a push. I’ve learned that if you’re taken in by the current and you make a big enough splash, someone is bound to notice your will to survive, and swim out to lend a hand.

My first semester as a college freshman alone has taught me a lot that I wish to carry with me in the future. First off, I must say, my start was not as successful as I would like it to have been. After graduating from the international baccalaureate program, I believed myself to have faced the most intense workload there is. However, the major difference between high school and college is that you are accounted for your own self one-hundred percent. This means that there is no one to remind of when assignments, or tests dates. It is up to you and only you to find out and note it down in your agenda. Furthermore, there is a much bigger amount of students in a classroom and so with this you do not have as much as a friend reliance for certain reminders. I also learned that you should also befriend certain persons with qualities of achieving in class, one who does assignments and pay attention. With this, you are surrounding yourself with positive influence and will interact more in your classes rather than talking and getting side-tracked. Being at college, your are on your own. Stay focused!

Stephanie

I believe that it is important to attend college, because you become aware of different ethnicities, and cultures all while you learn more about yourself and what you want out of life. College is the time to pursue your passions and step out into the world away from everything that you know and everything that is familiar to you. From my college experience, I have networked and learned a lot about life from people that I would never have met, had I not been to college. I think college is valueable, because through the trials and tribulations of classes I realized that I actually have a passion for giving back and assisting various philanthropies in the community. College has taught me that the world is huge and the possibilities to be great and cause change, and meet great people are infinite!

Lauren

One of the major things that I have learned is what it means to be an adult who makes independent decisions while in college. Since I am four hours away from my family, I have learned what it is like to be on my own. I have also learned what it means to work hard while in college. Before I started college, I was used to getting things easily, and could easily get good grades without doing much work. I've learned within my first year and a half that hard work pays off. This will help me in the long run with my future career in performing since it requires hard work and independence.

Janel

I have learned a few things during these past two semesters of college. Beyond education based in books, I have learned about this so-called “real world” that our high school instructors were so intent on preparing us for. I have learned that college is not the “real world”. In fact, college can be considered that awkward life stage where your parents took the training wheels off of your bike, but didn’t let you ride unless they held onto the back. I have learned that no matter how cultured, or how open you thought you were; you will meet all sorts of new people in college that probably didn’t even exist in your hometown. These people will open your eyes to what the “real world” looks like. This is the most valuable experience any person could ever possess. College is vital to attend because it is the only place where you could gain this knowledge. One cannot simply graduate and enter the “real world” with all the tools and experiences they need without attending college. College is valuable because it introduces to all sorts of people who you may encounter in your future workplace, or your career path.

For the first time, I feel like I'm actually going to be okay in life. I have gained confidence in myself and have felt renewed in making myself into something that I can be proud of.

Though school is filled with projects, challenges and strenuous homework, education is the point each avenue desires to reach. A summit, education will lead one through life socially, professionally and personally. Together with this, I will cross the threshold into my focal point and achieve a bachelor degree exactly two years from now; yet, I still hunger and thirst for more. My mission in life is to continue to aspire and realize my dreams. I will continue to challenge myself to grow; knowing through hard work and perseverance, I will continue to pave a broader, better and wiser road

Knowledge. The knowledge to do what was needed in my field before returning to school to study law. It was with this knowledge that I received a foundation for my first post-graduation job as an accountant. I also got my wife out of this experience. She was a junior and I was a freshman. It was anything but love at first sight. She wooed me with her cougar skills, and now we've been married about two years. Between the two (knowledge and my wife) the most valuable was/is my wife. I can't imagine life without her.

Alyssa

The transition from high school into college is one that you can't understand or imagine until you actually live it. As i zipped up my final duffel bag and threw it into my car, I knew it was the beginning of a adventure I never imagined I would finally meet. When looking back at my first semester of college, I not only realize how difficult and breathtaking this experience is, but I have lreaned who I truly am as a person. Waking up every morning to nothing but my alarm clock, I understand that this is my world now and I can do whatever I want and no one an stop me. I truly believe that I have matured into a strong young women and value every experience that I have been given so far in my adventure into a lifetime of opportunites.

I am a Ph.D. candidate specializing in research for improving urban music education. I am passionate concerning social justice in education, and am dedicated to adding to research to improve urban schools. When I taught instrumental music at a Navy base overseas, I worked with at-risk students. Many moved frequently and had parents at sea for long time periods. These issues often had negative effects on the students. Many got into trouble and did not complete high school on time, if at all. My students seemed to feel at home in my classroom, and I noticed that as they got involved in music they seemed to focus more on school and get into less mischief. Several troubled students told me, upon graduation, that one of the only reasons they hadn’t dropped out of school was to participate in band. After several years teaching, I entered graduate school to further pursue my interest in helping at-risk students though music. In graduate school, I have learned how to complete quantitative research to help create substantial and concrete recommendations for improving urban education. These tools will assist me in contributing to the improvement of urban music education through research.

Austin

I have learned quite a bit of things from my college. One of them being that not everything can be taught from a book; that experiences in life can teach you alot more. Also, I have learned that you can learn alot about people in class and you can establish friendships and connections that will further help your carrer. Lastly, college is a fantastic place to learn, but if you don'y interact and meet new and interesting people, then you are missing out on one of the great things college can offer.

The most notable gain from my college experience has to be the experience of truly learning about myself as an individual and having to confront personable characteristics in unlikable situations. This gain has made me confront realities of inevitable outcomes, highlighting personal flaws that have forced me to re-evaluate the methods I use to deal with sensitive hardships, stranger interactions, and the realization that things don’t always going my way. This overall experience, has and continues to challenge my unique persona for the betterment of myself and others while gifting me with the constant test of my inner strength. The indescribable gratitude for the valuable partake in attending college, is individually attributed to the opportunities I have benefited from, and the empowerment of higher education to further my involvement and influence of my personal passions. The value of attending college has accredited my beliefs with universal knowledge and has taught me how to channel my passionate efforts and ideologies in more effective ways. Additionally, supplying me a whole student body to bring awareness too and contribute to a causes growing support . The advantage of attending college is ultimately its ceaseless possibilities that it respectively embodies.

The most important thing that I have gotten out of my college experience thus far would undoubtedly be the knowledge and maturity gained even over the last year that is shaping me into the person that I know I want to be for the rest of my life. Be it because of the sense of new found independence I acquired for the first time once leaving home, or from sitting down with professors and advisors to learn what career is best suited for me, I feel as though my college experience has allowed me to grow in ways that I couldn't have imagined before arriving here. The degree that I am working very hard to earn is unquestionably very important to my future, but who I become along the way means just as much to me if not more, and I know I will never lose sight of that. For these reasons, I find my college experience at Florida State to be invaluable, inspirational, and above all, life changing.

Kathryn

From my experience at college, I have met many new people, with which I would not have been friends with in high school. I have grown to be more accepting, since the shelter of my small hometown was gone. This has helped me become a better person overall, and a better student. I met with new friends to study and learn beyond the classroom. I am no longer the meek girl who hardly peeps in and gives her opinion. The amount of people at this school has made my personality more versatile and open. Also, my living arrangements in the school's residence hall has introduced me to living conditions I had not experienced before. The dorm was cold, loud, and unwelcoming at first. However, I know feel as if I couldn't sleep without what used to be annoyances.

Tiffany

I have recieved responsability through my college experience. I feel that because there isn't anyone there to push you through college like high school that you need to hold yourself accountable. I have also realized that no one cares if you dont show up or do your work, because you pay for it and its ultimately your responsabily. I feel that if you have the will power and stamina that you can and will be successful in you college experience.

Coralie

What I have gotten out of my college experience is a sense of pride. It has taught me to live on my own and work hard to achieve my goals. Being a part of Florida State University has made me realize that anything is possible and it has been a great support system in helping me find myself and what I want to contribute to the world through my future career. I would not be the person I am today if I had not attended Florida State University since it has given me the knowlege and will power to succeed.

Negar

College was an experience that I was anticipating. I was fearful of what it would be like, because I am the youngest of four daughters to be attending. My experience has been amazing, my passion for learning has expanded and I love having the ability to gear my life into any direction. My major is Art History, and college has only enhanced my passion for it. I am able to attend and learn more about what I love daily. College has caused me to become more eager of what the future has to offer. It allows me to expand my horizons and make the most out of this one chance I have in life.

Eva

Florida State has given me endless opportunities and the confidence to succeed. As a music therapy major, I am very involved in the college of music but I knew I wanted to become involved in other areas on campus as well. As a college student it is important to take advantage of the opportunities that you are given my your college. I was first given the opportunity to be in a sorority. Being in a sorority has helped me gain confidence and has also given me resources to build my career. Being at Florida State even enabled me to co-found a club on campus. The works on obraining resources in order to empower younger students in lower income leon county schools. The school has also allowed me to receive certificates including a certificate in International Humanitarian Law. The school has also given me a chance to study abroad which I will be participating in next summer. Like I said, the opportunities are endless and there is something exciting and beneficial for every single student on campus. Florida State University has given me everything and has shaped me into the person I have always dreamed of being.

Kevin

Out of my college experience, I have gained a sense of who I am and where I want to go with my life. Thanks to the effort I put in my classes, along with the aid from my professors, I have found the greatest success in pursuing a degree in the Biological sciences. I have also developed my community and social skills as well, participating in the Outdoor Exploration Club and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society at my college. Through these groups, I have made new friends and taken part in events that helped benefit the people in my college community. As I continue on to a four-year school for my Bachelor's Degree in Biology, I hope to continue to grow academically, socially, and personally into a prominent member of society.

Vanessa

College has been a lot of hard work. I have taken calculus, molecular biology, circuits, and I have found that learning by osmisis does not work. I have realized that it takes time and a lot of effort to become successful. When I graduated from high school at sixteen I was in no way prepared to act like an adult. Attending a junior college has helped me transition into adulthood and I am now capable of living without my parents' support. Being a full time student and working part time has given me a strong work ethic and the motivation to move on to greater achievements. My college experience has taught me that I am capable of acomplishing anything as long as I work hard and stay motivated. In college, no one makes you go to class or do your work. I have learned to be responsible for my actions and to appreciate what my parents have given me.

Lauren

College has helped me to be more independent. The challenges from the work excite me to push myself. I love the fact that college is all about you. If a person fails its on them, not because of the teacher. The responsibility has really molded me into a completely different person than I was in high school. My view of the world has changed from my college experience and I hope that my view continues to grow throughout my life because of what I accomplished in my college career.

Victoria

I have gained so much self-confidence and self-discipline from my time at Florida State University. It's my first real time away from home, and I've been able to get my first taste of my major and what I want to do with my life, I've lived on my own, learned to cooperate with roommates, and organized myself so that I'm getting pretty good grades. I've met people from all over the world, and found out that some new friends are from really close to my home. I've tried things that I had never heard of before, had new friends help me when I was having difficulties, and I've been able to help other friends with things that I excelled in. I'm looking forward to the rest of my college career... not only getting a degree from an internationally recognized school, but the entire experience. I'm very happy to attend FSU, and I'll always be glad to be a 'Nole.

Samantha

My experience at the Florida State University has taught me more than what you can learn from a textbook or a professor. Because of the diverse student population, the rewarding research experiences, and the many opportunities to work at my full potential, FSU has pushed me to become something. That something is what is going to get me into medical school and onward. My experience at FSU has made me reach to the depths of my ambition in order to pull enough motivation and dedication to operate at my best in every aspect of my life as a Florida State University student. From my studies and work experience to my social life, I can function with the confidence that I am a well-rounded student and a positive asset to society. All of this, I can attribute to my experience at the Florida State University.

Kaley

I have been able to learn personally and academically from some of the best and most impactful faculty while at school. These people, as well as some of my classmates, have not only given me academic knowledge, but also lifetime wisdom that I will be able to carry with me in my personal life. I have also been given the experience to learn and develop a lot about myself, such as communication with others, time management, and how to deal with successes and failures.

Patricia

I am originally from a small suburb of Des Moines, Iowa and growing up, I knew I wanted to branch out and do great things. Ever since my junior year in high school I knew Florida was the place for me. Not only did the state offer everything I needed in terms of Marine Biology research and opportunity, it had some great schools as well. Attending Florida State University is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It has opened doors I never imagined possible, for instance, I was one of fifteen students chosen for a Study Abroad trip to the Bahamas this summer! Not only do I get to spend three weeks tagging sharks, I get to encounter something that some people only dream of! I am so lucky to have a supportive family who was willing to help me pursue my dreams and most of all, I am so lucky in what FSU has provided for me: a great sorority where I can be involved in charity work and leadership, great classes and professors, and most of all, it's provided me with growth to become the person I could only dream of becoming.

Out of my whole college experience so far, I have gotten to mostly know about myself. Know who I am, where I stand, what I like and dislike. College is about learning , not only in the classroom, but your surroundings as well. You are exposed to a tremendous amount of new people everyday, where a lot of areas lack this cultural experience. I feel it has been valuable to attend because I am getting prepared for the 'real world'. I have responsibility and knowing who I am helps since everyone can get lost or sucked into bad situations easily.

Well i really dont have any college experience yet. I plan on attending Universal Technical Institute of Phoenix starting in June 2011. I do believe that college is very valuable and definatly something everyone should do. I say that because everyone wants to be successful now a days but most teens comming out of high school want nothing to do with college or anthing ressembling school. When i graduated in may of 2009 i was one of those teens, but i have come to realize without college it is very hard to become a successful person. Most businesses want people trained in there profession or someone that went to school specifically for that trade. For example, i am attending MMI ( motorcycle mechanics institute) a branch of UTI that specifically trains people on motorcycles,. If i were to go and apply right now at a dealership with very little experience it is very unlikely that i would get hired,
