Kent State University at Kent Top Questions

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Kayla

In my college experience, I have gained a vast amount of knowledge through many different situations and experiences. Currently, I serve in a Residence Hall student-elected position. I am the Director of Leadership Development and the National Communications Coordinator for Kent Interhall Council. Through this position, I have done everything in my power to make my campus a better place. I have organized conferences, leadership training opportunites, self-marketability seminars, and philanthropy projects. I have also worked with people from many different ethnich and social backgrounds. As a Spanish Translation and a Justice Studies major, experiences with these populations has helped me become more comfortable with potential clients, colleagues, and audiences. I have also become more comfortable with myself. Kent State Universtiy offers so many opportunites to participate in activities such as this, with 200+ social clubs and activites. The historical aspects of Kent are also very interesting. It is amazing to be in a place that holds such a historical significance in our nation's history. Kent State is the place where "The War Came Home" on May 4, 1970. Everything about this campus has shaped and changed my life for the better.

It is amazing what San Joaquin Valley Collage has given me. When it comes to education, I feel that there is no better place to be. I attend school monday through friday 7a.m. to 4p.m. I attend two classes a day for a duration of 5 hours each. I am completing 3 years worth of study in 18 months and get to bed at 2a.m. if I am lucky. This school unlke others has challenged me in a way that will prepare me for the many challenges the world will press upon me. I must say that attending this school has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I had to give up many things such as my social life, love life, relaxation time, fun time and many others, but I will tell you right now that it has been the best decision I have ever made. I have a dream that I will one day be able to save lives, and in my future career that is exactly what I am going to be doing. This school is making it possible for me to learn, and obtain the vital information that I need.

Through all of my college experiences, overall I have found out it has benefitted me. I learned what I'm interested in academically as well as what I am passionate about. I have learned how best for me to study and that actually attending classes matters in the long run. That I can do well if i really put my mind to it. Going to Kent was tough at first, feeling that I really did not fit in, but over time, I have learned that I am thankful that I came here. Not only have I been able to discover a good fit for me academically but I have found myself and what I want to do and be in the future.

Natasha

Well I am the first person in my home to attened college. I am only through half of my first semester so I am still learning the whole college thing. As of now the experience that i have gotten is already making a best friend, and learning about what I am able to accomplish. This has been very valuable to me, because like I said, I am the first one to attend.

Brandy

My college experience has taught me to balance a social life and and academic life. As a first year student I went into college totally focused on education, and only education; having a social life was not on my agenda. However, as the weekwas passed, I realized that going with friends occaisionally is okay and a necessary aspect of college life. As long as you can balance your work load with you social life, there is no reason you shouldn't. Engaging with other people helps you communicate, a skill that could help you get a job once college is over. College is a safety net between high school and the real world that prepares you not only for your career, but for the rest of your life. I feel more confident knowing that I am not totally on my own but more indepedent.

I have learned so much about myself and who I am. College has helped me with future planning and huge choices such as picking a career. My main decision for a major was veterinary medicine following the path of my grandfather and father. My father noticed I was not enjoying it and suggested that there are many options in the world. This is what led me to architecture. One day I started looking at architecture and just fell in love with it. My father has been very supportive and encouraging with this choice and I can not thank him enough. College helps to establish self identity along with communication and other various personal skills. This semester I have been studying in Florence Italy through Kent's study abroad program and the whole culture change has really opened my eyes in a new way of pereceving things.

People think once there done with Highschool then there done with school for good. This is not the case for me as I will never stop learning and fullfilling my education, this is why I chose to come to college here at Kent State to recieve my degree in Early Education. This will forever be the best decision I will ever make to try and make a great career doing something I love. I have gotten so much out of attending college; I have met so many great people that help me through my college experience. I love all my classes and Professors and even though I have to really work at them and study all the time I enjoy doing it, I can honestly say i have learned so much in the short time i've been here. As well as fullfilling my education I feel myself becoming more of a mature adult each and every day. In all my college experience so far has taught me to be more of an adult, Im on my way to a great education, met many great friends, and im one step closer to acieve my dream as an Early Education teacher.

The best part of the college experience is living in the dorms and being on your own in a secure environment. Growing up, we get told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. When you enter college, all of that changes. Getting to be on my own allowed me to grow as a person and decide what type of individual I wanted to be. It's a real growing experience. My mom wasn't there to tell me to do my homework or not stay up late; I had to make those decisions on my own and when I made the wrong ones sometimes, I realized that I had no one to blame but myself. I believe that the entire "college experience" is the most valuable part of attending college. We all have to "leave the nest" at some point, and living on campus prepared me for that. If you don't go away to college, you might not ever realize who you can be on your own. Overall, going away to college is valuable because its a learning experience in itself and it's worth the cost.

Paula

What I have gotten out of going back to college, is a solid education and friends that will be invaluable once we are engaged in our careers. Every class that I have taken, I have been able to reflect on as encouraging and a skill builder for later use in the field. I am proud that I went back to college to enhance my education regardless of my age. The campus has embraced everyone, young and old alike and made sure that we have a solid foundation in which to pursue our interest .

Larissa

I dropped out because I would of rather of been partying at the time. Now I would give anything to have that oppurtunity back. I should of took advantage of it when I had the chance

Amanda

Since starting college I have learned so much about the world around me and myself. Before I graduated high school I often felt stuck or lost in the world. Nobody at my school seemed to really care about anybody but themselves. The teachers didn't care about us as students or our futures and instead it felt as if they wanted to give us busy work in order to fill up their class time before shuffling us off to the next unfortunate instructor. The students weren't much better. Very few students were motivated, and the ones who were either were stuck up or judegemental of the students outside of their group. Everyone around me in that school was part of a clique of some type and everyone seemed cookie-cutter. Since coming to college I have seen so many new cultures, met people with different views and religions, and have been introduced to some profound ideas. I am incredibly thankful for the diversity and the friendless expereicned at Kent State University. Without this experience I would not have the views of the world I do today.

As a student of art, perspective is a valuable thing. When I first arrived at Kent State, my schedule was so hectic I felt more like an artist of the trapeze trying, at every awkward transition, to avoid falling straight on my head. That first semester was a crash course, the lumps can testify. But a funny thing… the more aquainted I got with the process of making art, the more I realized that the lumps are an important part of it. When things aren’t going according to plan, I’ve learned to accept the mistakes, failures, accidents. If something (a sculpture, for instance) falls apart, the putting it back together again can be frustrating, but can also garner the most surprising rewards… can, in fact, make the falling apart seem necessary. I try to keep that lesson in mind outside the studio—that when things are going wrong, maybe they’re not going wrong at all; that if my life does at times resemble a death-defying act, I should remember: there is a net, and a ladder to climb.

I once told my college counselor that college was unlike any educational experience I had ever had. I told her that instead of being told to memorize information I would soon forget, I was asked to explore a depth of knowledge and understanding of concepts that stood behind my previous learning. The college experience to me was a path that forked into many mysterious channels that led me to understanding that my world was much bigger than I had been made to believe. Every lecture, exam, handout, and debate held a special stepping stone, eventually leading me to success, and an understanding of who I am . The college experience was a wakeup call for me to open my eyes and see the world; pass the parties, shopping malls, and forced opinions by former high school teachers. College is the quintessential making of an intellectual person. As students, I learned to use every resource at my disposal, and expand my typical style of learning to include the various forms of teaching by the many professors that I learned to love, and sometimes hate. The point of college is to open up and dissect the small attributes that make life interesting.

Rachel

When I began college, I never realized the extent to which it would change the way I percieve the world. I had always asked the question "why" with great frequency in regard to the many disciplines of life-- now I ask that same question but with much more depth. When I seek an answer, I apply my basic knowledge from life experiences with my classroom experiences. Without effort, I make connections between the classroom and the real world, and when I find a connection, both academics and life becomes even more facinating. These connections, or epiphanies as I like to call them, excite me and pull me into my courses even when I thought that I could not become more interested. There is nothing better than the priviledge and the opportunity to understand the complex, yet mesmerizing world we call home.

Jennifer

I came in to Kent State as a new student with a Sophomore standing. I am taking many sophomore level classes. This gives me the opportunity to meet sophomore and juniors who have already experienced at least a year on campus. These opportunities allow me to have inside information and ideas of what it will be like at college. Overall, I have enjoyed learning about my major and joining Operation Smile, where we raise money for children who cannot afford to have cleft palate surgeries. This experience will always stick with me, and I know that the friends that I am making with be friends that I keep forever.

Kimberlee

I feel that I appreciate everything about the school I am currently attending. I transferred previously from another university and I disliked my entire experience there. After transferring to Kent State, I have realized so much about how college could be an extremeley positive experience. Attending college provides me with a continuous amount of knowledge which serves me greatly both now with everyday life and for preparing me for the future. I believe people take for granted the experience they receive from living on campus. I have been commuting forty five minutes to and from school everyday and have maintained a GPA of over 3.6. I would greatly benefit from receiving this scholarship because it would take the stress out of commuting to and from school and provide me more time to focus on my academics as well as extracurricular activities.

Alexandra

A college experience is something that everyone should be able to acquire during a lifetime. My college experience has been refreshing and inspiring. Over the last couple of years I have learned what type of person I am as well as what I can become while taking different courses and meeting numerous professors and friends. I would not trade my time spent for anything, my experience has been invaluable. More than just book knowledge has been processed through my mind. College is more then exams and high marks, half of the battle is just showing up. Professors are more then intructors, they can become friends that one can learn from. I have found out that life is not just about which job one can possess, but what type of person I conduct myself to be. College has expanded my horizons from a strict way of thinking to that of a true liberal arts mindset. If I would have neglected my attendence I surely would have missed out on greatness. College is a chance to change for better or worse; a premier opportunity to grow and mature into a well-rounded, intellectual individual.

Emily

The most valuable experience I have gotten out of college has been to be independent. Due to the fact that Kent is a large school, I had to learn how to fight for myself with financial aid, the bursar's office, etc. While Kent does everything it can, it simply can not help everyone so I have learned to be independent. I feel like I can do anything now. I am not afraid to leave Ohio or to try new things. I feel like I have taken advantage of all Kent has to offer and it has really benefitted me. I will walk away from Kent with a better knowledge of myself and what it takes to leave independently.

Aimee

I have learned to be a competent and independent citizen. i have gained alot of experience throught my scademic career so far and I am glad to have come as far as I have.

Ellen

I have gotten a wonderful education thus far. I have had many wonderful and influential teachers that have made my experience here memorable. The teachers are always available for individual meeting. I was able to understand the expectations of my teachers allowing me to excel. I love the program I am enrolled in because I know that I have chosen the right career path for myself. I have made many friends living on-campus that will be life lasting friendships. I love that the campus is so diverse because I was able to meet many different kinds of people to explan my horizions. The campus has many activities to keep the students involved. Overall, my experience was memorable. I would not take it back for anything, and I recommend incoming freshmen to chose Kent State University.

Natalia

I believe that the college experience has helped me grow both mentally and socially. Since attending I have been able to completely immerse myself in the whole college experience by living in on campus, joining school organizations, and participating in small honors courses as well as lecture based classes. These things have not only helped me grow intellectually, but also socially. Having the skills necessary to make bonds with people and form close friendships is vital for your future. I also feel as though I have become more independant and more sure of myself while at college. Going to college forces you to meet new people, talk with professors, make adivising appointments, and take care of your own issues. This experience is golden and cannot be achieved any other way. I feel like the social aspect is just as important as the learning apsect. College has not only helped me prepare myself by learning about my field of study, but it has allowed me to learn how to carry myself and make connections with other people. Learning how to live on your own and motivate yourself to be successful in college is a life changing experience.

I believe that there is no such thing as wasted knowledge therefore it follows that I love being at college. Kent State University has given me many opportunities and choices to choose from and I think that the path that I am currently pursuing in Computer Sciences is one that KSU is well equipped to teach me about. The professors listen to you and give feedback on your work; if you don't understand something, the upper classmen will offer to help you figure it out. In addition to pursuing a career path, I've also been able to focus on subjects that I want to learn about, simply for the sake of learning about them. College is a tool that many young people don't use to it's full potential. Equally as many do, but I think that it's disappointing that the other half doesn't think learning is something to enjoy. I do enjoy learning and KSU has given me a great deal of food for thought. Thank you KSU.

I have not been attending college for very long but I can already tell that it is going to be valuable to attend. I have already met so many amazing people and I really enjoy my classes. I feel confident that this school is going to be able to allow me to earn a degree in business that is going to get me a good job and one day allow me to open up my own business. All of these things are valuable to me. I know that I will be getting the most out of my college experience and have fun, while also keeping up with my work and studying hard. My college experience has been wonderful so far and I am very glad I chose to tend Kent State University, because I do feel that it is valuable to attend.

Kara

So far I have learned alot about my career feild of interest and the background that you need to acheive to suceed in my career goal. I have learned many diverse topics in my feild of study and expeirence with scientific research. The staff is very helpful with getting you where you want to be they give you many oppertunites to help out in their labs, do research for them, and even refer you to potential employers. I have learned what i need to suceed here, truly. I have as well obtained a diverse of extra curricular classes, such as a love for psychology. Which may benefit me in my future career goal aspirations. I really enjoy learning here and I believe that kent state will help me to suceed and be where I want to be when I am finished here. Im happy that I choose kent state, its not a huge university but its not your typical community college either, its the perfect balance and I really like that about kent state.

Allison

It has allowed me to explore and find my identity through diverse networks of friends and guidance from professors. I have matured and placed an importance on my core values. I have figured out what is most important in life and what it takes to succeed. I have set high standards for me to work towards and accomplish; it is all thanks to the experiences I have gained through my life at Kent State.

Heather

My college experience thus far has been unique, as most of my peers would say about their own. What I will leave with will be more than just the knowledge I received in the classroom: I will walk away with invaluable worldly intellect and lessons on life. College allows many students the opportunity to grow in different ways than if they were to just have gotten a job straight out of high school. Peer support and mentor advice has been extremely vital in my own education. Formal education is expensive, but the life knowledge one graduates with does not have a price tag.

Tiffani

I have gotten that everyone comes from different walks of life and their shoes may either be a little ragged or superbly polished. Just know at the end of the day everone shares the same socks as you.

Jessica

I have recieved so much from my college experience within the last few weeks. The one thing ive learned the most is how to be independent. I've learned time management and it's not always about the parties. Education comes first, especially when you have to pay so much for it. College teaches you the value of a dollar also. Yoou cant spend money when you have no money to spend. I have also met so many people from so many different cultures here. It teaches me that not everybody thinks how i think, and there are so many different views in the world. I've learned that within everything, i have to remember the person i am, and the person my parents raised me to be. While its difficult not getting caught up in the party life, its well worth it. Sacrifices are never easy to make but they pay off in the end.

Kimberly

At 30 years old I thought that the path that I had chosen was one that i would be forced to remain in. In deciding to go to college so many years past high school, I was fearful of not being able to restore all the information instilled at that time. What I have learned however, is college isn't the same experience. It's much bigger in recovering that drive to learn. Whether it being grammatically correct, or biolgical experimenting, there hasn't been anything quite like the college experience to motivate me, or make me want to unbury the potential that has been lying dormant. College has sparked a fire in me not only to achieve, but to surpass the expectations of others and even myself. It was one of my lifes best decisions.

Chelsea

My college experience has provided me with knowledge that otherwise would have been lost to me, of course I know that is the main reason why we attend college, but this is an important part. My experience has also built me into a more assertive, productive, and independent person. I have grown as a student, friend, and individual. I have gained confidence I never would have thought I was capable of and because of this I now lead a significantly happier life than I had in past years. My college experience has been valuable because it has given me new tools which are required to function in life after school. I have made mistakes, mistakes that I would never have been able to learn from if I had not attended college. I look forward to the rest of my college career and the new and exciting experiences that accompany it.

Genesis

I have learned that I can break away from the person I was in high school and prove my capabilities as a student. It has shown me that everyday is a new begining and each day brings the opportunity to excel and repair what happened the day before.

Zachary

My college experience has been great. Not only have i learned to interact with a lot more types of people, but I have made a lot of close friends. Attending college here has also made my studying a lot better and I feel more equipt for the real world of work. It is a great experience that I will never forget!

I've been attending a community college since the summer after my sophomore year in high school. I prefer college classes to high school because the students who "screw around" in high school don't exist in college. I have learned that college classes aren't scary at all like they are perceived to be. The teachers are ready to help at a moments notice. I can honestly say that college has helped my confidence and taught me to be more independent.

Danijel

The most important thing i have recived out of my college experiance is not to be afraid of the future. We go to college to learn a skill. This skill, we will use to profit of, and if at the time there is no jobs in our skill, well than we do something else close to our skill, and its that simple. College leaves us hungry for work, and thank God it does because unlike some other people i do not have the luxury of not worrying about college tution and expenses.

Morgan

I have learned so much about myself during my first years at college. I have become more independent and know that I can handle being on my own when after I graduate college. In my two short years at college, I have also grown into the person that I am and more importantly, I have been able to except that person. I think that college has forced me to become more mature. I now realize that there are some issues that I have to handle myself and not just pass unpleasent tasks onto my parents. College has also taught me how to step outside my boundaries without letting go of my true beliefs. This experience has showed me that there is a group of friends who enjoy you for you but finding them is the challenge. I think college is an invaluable experience that everyone should have the chance to go through. The life experience that you receive is just as important as the knowledge to go out into the world and be successful in your life.

Amanda

Five years ago, I found myself in a place of confusion. I wasn't doing well in school and I failed to fulfill my financial requirements to continue with my college education. Succeeding exceedingly well in high school, I couldn't figure out why after only a year in college my focus, grades and attitude started to rapidly decline. After 3 years in and out of the doctor's offices I received an answer, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and complex partial seizures, which were causing the awful obscurities in my behavior. Once I was diagnosed and properly treated, my life began to slowly come back together. I have successful returned to Kent State University this past spring. I must say that coming back to school is one of the best things I have ever done. After working so hard to get here I appreciate it so much more. By the end of 2012, I plan on having my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. In the future I hope to help and be a positive influence in other people's lives by using the experience and knowledge I have acquired along the way.

Rachel

College taught me skills I never dreamed of. At 18, I was unsure which direction my future held. Attending college allowed me to sample and view a large majority of options. Even after I chose nursing as my field of choice, there were so many directions I could take it in. College gave me the opportunity to give back to others. Not only am I in a service filed, but I can one day help educate other prospective nurses. college taught me how to go for what I wanted. While I loved my school, sometimes the communication was lacking. I had to learn to be firm and articulate in me needs; which I apply to my daily life. Attending school gave me job security, confidence, and a desire to further my education past a BSN.

April

What i have gotten out of my experience in a trade school is that to do what you want, you have to do what you need to do first. Showing that you will do anything to become better and that you wont give up is what it takes to become great. It is so valuable to attend a trade school like mine because since you know what you want to do, you can go straight into your profession with the help and support of all the admissions leaders and peers you have and get the help to find a job after you graduate. Attending Paul Mitchell the School of Cosmetology also gives you a standard to live by. It is such a known name throughout the world that you have to respect yourself as well as the company and people you are representing when you are out and about. Once you attend Paul Mitchell you become part of their family. Its a wonderful experiences and a memorable one as well.

Anthony

Through my college experience, I have gained much more than knowledge. I have developed an understanding of myself and who I am as an individual and adult. When I left high school, I was on the fence about even attending college and had no real plan about what I was going to do. I did, however, see college as a chance to redeem myself for four years of slacking and prove to myself that I am an intelligent and social creature. I received an Associate degree in horticulture and plant science after three years graduating with honors. This led to a complete change of my attitude and my decision to continue my education and strive for a phd. I feel much more confident in myself knowing that I can and will achieve what I set out to do. This is reflected in my goals, hobbies, and work. It has been valuable to attend college because if I had not, I may never have given myself the opportunity to see just how far I can go.

Amanda

Threw my collage experince as a Junior I have already learned so much in my major is Flight Technology. Kent State University has a very nice airport with airplanes that are used for training purposes that is hands on and everyday you always seem to learn something new about the aviation world and the skills needed to be a pilot. Attending collage has made me a better person I feel proud of myself and trying to bring out the best person I can be. By going to school I am preparing for a better future flying is not just a career for me its my life and dream I do it cause that is what I want to do and i value everything I have learned from Kent's program and feel greatful to have the oppertunity to do so.

Nancy

I have gained several friendships that i believe will last longer than my high school ones. We all understand each other and help each other out as much as we can. It has been valuable to attend college to get a degree to acheive a stable job. College also helps people with networking to also help with jobs. Friends are also a big value because friends help someone and stand by no matter the situation. Friends are a necessary mental support for people.

Michelle

Throughout my three years in attending College, I have learned the importance of my effort toward my education. College is the time to find out who I truly am and take advantage of the many resources available. I have learned that I must be that individual who is willing to go above and beyond. I cannot wait for someone else to tell me I can do it. I have to believe in myself and take action to succeed. Studying for test and exams really helps increase my academic success and homework was not just something professors gave students to occupy their time. College is really the make or break point of many lives and in order to be successful, I learned to take my college career SERIOUSLY. With this being said, I have engaged in on-campus organizations, made more available time for my studies rather than social life, I have found out that a few friends are all I need, I acknowledge all the resources offered rather than bypass them and I value my education more than I ever did, well more than I did in high School.

Jamie

I started at a four-year University right out of high school and received below average grades. After two-years at the University I transfered to a junior college . There I received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and learned a lot about life. Now I am here in Ohio, from California, finishing my Bachelor Degree at Kent State University. What I have learned from my college experience thus far is to embrace what life brings you, make great friends, and take lots of pictures. I have learned to show up to class, take notes, and learn as much as I can so I can be the best person I can be. I will be a better person because of college.

Michael

Since being out of school for 25 years, I have returned to pursue a new career in Surgical Technology. Being the "old man on campus", has shown me how important it is to have your mind set on learning. I watched too many young students drop out of classes because they either did not understand the course information or just didn't want to put out the effort. I know that from my younger days. College is the first step toward your future, and the experience you get will help you know if the career you chose is the one for you. In my years, I have learned that college is a place of study, a place of friendships, and a road to your future. College serves as a roadmap to get to your career destination.

Amanda

Out of my college experience so far, I feel as if I had made many new friends and have greatly expanded my education to different levels. I think that by being a college student, it has helped me think outside the box and has helped me open up to many new opportunities in life, as in helping me determine where I wanted to go with my life. I have met many new, positive people that will hopefully remain in my life for the remainder of it. My new friends have helped me decide which path I wanted to follow in my life and are also a big part in determing what I wanted to do with my major. I think college has been valuable to attend because for the msot part, it has helped me mature greatly. Living on campus and being away from my family really showed me what it was like to basically live on my own. I feel as though I am responsible for everything I do no matter how big or little the responsibility is. Being in college has definitely been a beneficial experience for me.

Stephanie

My college experience has been somewhat varied until now. Having graduated from high school in the 1980's, I attended a distant Illinois state college and was on the Dean's List. In the 1990's, I had changed my career path, attended a local community college, and graduated with a High Honors, Associate Degree in Nursing. Both college experiences were extremely valuable in their own environments and in what they had to offer. As an attendant to the state college, I had the joy of being the college mascot; I lived on campus, without a car and walked to every class--most of which were 1/2 hour one-way. I also had joined a social sorority that required a high G.P.A. and philanthropic endeavors, and held the position of Vice President and Standard's Board Chairperson. This experience taught me how to balance social desires with educational demands. As an attendant to the community college, I learned the benefit of low teacher:student ratio that encouraged a high-quality interaction. Finally going back for my BSN, I am going to attend a local, private 4-year college to obtain the best of both experiences!

Danielle

I have met many different people, even though I stayed in the same town that I grew up in. If I didn't go to college I would not have figured out what I wanted to do with my life. If i would not have gone to college I would not have any goals to get out of my job. I want a career that I love and that makes I difference to the world. So for now because I'm still in school I have a job, what I want to a career. And once I finish school I will have a career that makes a difference and that I love going to everyday.

Cara

I am taking a lot with me when it comes to my college experience here at Kent State. I have learned that I have to work hard in order to get to where I want to be. I have also learned that it is okay to get help. Being on campus has made me realize how easy it can be to meet people who are interested in the same field as you. These people can help you with your future. Sometimes it is not about what you know, but who you know. I'm finishing my senior year here at Kent State University. Throughout my past years here, I have failed classes, switched majors, eliminated people, held jobs, struggled financially, and almost quit. But I realized all of the problems that I had will never mount up to the things that I have achieved and will achieve in the near future. I have been through a lot this past year, but I still managed to keep my grades up, and make the dean’s list last fall. I am very proud of myself for making it this far, and I will always remember my years here at Kent State.

I have learned the ways of college and it all starts with time management and personal responsiblity. At home you have mom and dad to remind you of anything. In college you only have yourself. So learining how to be responsible for yourself would be my most valuable experience so far. Ask for time management, just knowing when your reports and papers need to be worked on and turned in is a struggle but the real deal is fitting it in with your other daily routines. Lastly one of the other essential valuable experiences i that i have had was being involved in a fraternity and staying active along with school. Pledging is one of the most time consuming things. Along with working out everyday and playing recreational sports. So doing those two things along with school leaves you with literally no time and i value that experience because it has taught me to enjoy these next semesters and years because nothing wil every be like that experience again! College itself is one of the greatest experiences.
