Mcneese is not the most exciting school to attend. The on-campus housing is priced astronomically high, the facilities are pathetic, and you’re always calling someone from maintenance to fix reoccurring issues. Most of the buildings are a far cry from updated and you are lucky if the air conditioning is working that day. In addition, the local area leaves you wanting more. There is nothing to do unless you travel the three hours to Houston, or the two and a half to Baton Rouge. My honest opinion is if you do not gamble or drink, you are “out of luck”. I have several friends that are international students and they all told me the same thing “Google lied”. The campus is gloried online but looks “run down” in person. Now our academics are outstanding, especially the nursing program. It is a smaller university, so you are treated as a person, not a number. I have several friends in engineering that all had jobs within 2 weeks of graduation, some even before. It is the same with the nursing department. Overall, Mcneese is not where you’re meant to be unless you want to stay local, or you are pursing a RN or engineering degree.
McNeese is a good school, in general. Campus housing is pretty questionable, especially the cheaper dorms. If you’re someone without a car, all necessities are within walking distance. Academics are quality and most professors are easily accessible. The student population is wonderful, even if you’re someone who’s shy or socially awkward, you’ll find that McNeese students are helpful and easy to talk to. I’m glad I go here.
I truly regret making the decision to attend McNeese for my Master’s. I have had nothing but issues my entire college career and it’s only gotten worse since I have started my master’s. My graduation date has been delayed because they do not offer enough classes to get your degree in an adequate time and trying to get anything done as far as scholarships or office stuff is a horrible experience.
Most people choose college for the experience and the learning. Lake Charles is a small town with not a lot of fun stuff to do if you're not a native or don't know anyone here. If you have friends who have been here a while or who are natives then you'd have a good time. The learning aspect however is fine. So, if you're just coming to learn then it's an excellent choice. P.S bring a car. Things are just better that way.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for McNeese State University is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
If I could have the ability to go back in time as a high school senior, there will be so many advices that I would give myself to make many adjustments to prepare for the responsibilities that is ahead of me in college. Knowing now that I'm taking higher level math such as Calculus in college, going back in time I would tell myself to work hard earlier diving into the math books and online tutorials to progress my knowledge ahead of time. If I were to prepare the math ahead of time, that would make my life easier today. Another thing I would tell myself is to follow your dreams. Back when I was a senior in high school I did not know what major I want to go for in college. Now that I know what major to go for today, if I could go back in time and tell myself Computer Science by now I would save more money by not switching majors and as well today I would be far ahead in Computer Science to apply my knowledge to help myself to start my own computer software company at an early age.
In some ways it has the haunting familiar feeling of high school...a feeling you hope to abandon by the time you are going on to that next phase of your life...college.
A person which decides to attend McNeese State University should have a strong will to study and stay focused. College is not a measurment of knowlege, it measures how much time one is willing to put into their education.
McNeese is a great environment to learn in; feels like home.
The great louisiana culture we have . our mascot is a cowboy so that falls in well with the zydeco and cajun/creole heritage out here.. And our well organized teachers make school alot easier on us
immature
I feel that i knew everything i needed to know before going to the university . I feel that they inform you about a lot of things on the campus.
Basically anybody can attend this college
Very good Science Program.
The most frustrating thing about this schoold would have to be the amount of teachers that "dumb down" the class for the students who probably shouldn't be in college int he first place.
There are alot of students from other countries and such.
