Quinnipiac doesn't offer as many classes as needed so that students can have manageable schedules and also take the class that are REQUIRED for their majors. Many of my friends or myself have not been able to get into required courses and QU will not add more sections which is pretty bogus. Make sure you have a good plan of what courses you have to take and always have backup plans because classes fill up quickly.

I didn't want to stereotype the students as being spoiled and conformist when I started here. I went to a state college and met atleast one student from Q.U. that fit the stereotype since she knew a friend of mine. In summary, some fit the stereotype and some did not.

If you are going into Quinnipiac as a communications major (particularly journalism) be aware that this is not a very creatively nurturing community. The professors are great, but dont look for too much student support. The student newspaper is getting better every year but there is a really small amount of students that actually write for it. Most students are very conservative and if you are really dedicated to the arts or are searching for creative inspiration, this might not be the place for you.

Brett

Quinnipiac is an excellent school that has it all. Great academics. Excellent professors. A beautiful campus. And the resources you need to be successful after you graduate (internships, career counseling, etc). This is an especially strong school for communications, health sciences, and business, but you can't go wrong with any major at Quinnipiac. This is a school you'll be hearing a lot of great things about for a long time to come.

Cassie

I feel like there are many opportunities presented to me through the school. They offer concerts each semester, events all the time, and great job opportunities for after graduation. There is always a professor to talk to or give recommendations if needed and the class sizes are great. I loved everything about my Quinnipiac experience (minus the parking and lack of housing).

Ally

QU is a great school! It's probably one of the best choices I've ever made, and can't wait for the 3 years I have left here.

Erin

Quinnipiac is great. Living with three other people in a cramped place freshman year can be discouraging. Especially if you don't get along with one, or all of them. ANd it can happen! Just dont take it personally, and push through. You will eventually find your niche' and people who will become your lifelong friends. NOT everyone is the same at QU, and you dont have to change to try to fit in. It all just happens very naturally, but don't cop out and go home every weekend, like I began to. You will learn alot about yourself, and others in the crucial first few weeks of being away from home. Embrace it! And PS - having beers to share is a great way to make friends. Just dont let the RA's catch you! They are EVERYWHERE just waiting to get you in trouble! ( well, some of them. but some of them are really cool too!) DONT STEREOTYPE! Be open and I wish you only the best.

The food here is SO EXPENSIVE. Seriously, I don't want to pay 2.00 for a water. Or $8 for a little pizza. A lot of people run out of money on their meal plan, which is $950 a semester.

Mike

Despite everything great about the school, there's some deep administrative flaws. The main cafeteria operates at awful times, closing as early as 6PM on Fridays. There's the Bobcat Den that's open until 11 every night, and it's possible to order out as late as 3AM on weekends, but a midnight on a Sunday you're pretty much screwed as far as food is concerned unless you make it yourself. Of course, that's impossible in the large majority of dorms, as only 2 of them offer kitchens in the rooms, and those that do don't provide students with meal plans. The shuttles also run at awkward times, often showing up late and leaving earlier than planned. I remember one night I went into New York City, got a train back at around 12:30 and was at the shuttle stop by 2:55 in order to catch the 3:05 shuttle. After ten minutes of waiting, I asked a cab driver who said he saw the shuttle leave a full twenty minutes earlier at 2:45. This left me more or less stranded, and I had to put out the $25 for a cab ride back to campus. Parking shuttles are also terrible. They're supposed to come at roughly 10 minute intervals, but I've waited at the stop for at least 30 minutes, only for two shuttles to come back-to-back. It's a problem that could be easily fixed, it just isn't. Other than that, lately the administration seems too focused on getting more students to come to the school and not focused enough on the students that are already here. Quinnipiac has lofty goals for expansion, but there's some buildings on campus that could use with fixing up first. They almost seem too excited about the future and what the next class of students hold that they're putting much less emphasis on on-campus concerns. Still, it is fairly easy to get in touch with a Student Government representative (you'll inevitably befriend one whether you know it or not) and express your ideas.

Ryan

It is really annoying how much the administration limits EVERYTHING. I haven't had so much control over me since middle school. I am not one to complain, but seriously, it is ridiculous and out of hand.

Samantha

The lack of diversity and very little interest in art is really discouraging. Overall, however QU is beautiful and a lot of fun. It has been a great place to live and learn.

Jo

Although Quinnipiac sometimes gets a bad rap for many things that occur, such as excessive partying or not enough diversity, for the most part I have loved my four years here and would not have chosen any other school. I believe the students here work hard and play hard and that it shows at the end of the day with requirements going up yearly to come to QU and requirements for programs being difficult as well.

Steve

The school has really made efforts to expand and it has benefited the entire community. The new TD Banknorth stadium is incredible and will attract recruits which will put the athletic programs to the top of the conferences... New dorms are being built near the stadium which will guarentee housing all 4 years for seniors... Dorm road is being expanded and the cafeteria will be twice as big... Hopefully they have a plan for parking, because its already a miserable situation that will only get worse with more students coming in.
