The University of Texas at El Paso Top Questions

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Stephen

Things change buddy, get over it and learn to adapt because the sooner you figure that out the sooner you'll realize that you have a full life ahead of you that you need to begin planning for. You should probably start looking at every scholarship you can get your hands on and save any and all money in order to ensure that you can have a good life without having to work harder. Hell looks like vega was right, "work smarter, not harder". If you have anything come up that you think is too much for you to handle remember that you do have friends and you do have professionals in the community that will help you to do the things that need to be done, you're never really alone so don't try and do it all alone. Above all, have a good time because you need to balance work and play, don't be johnny.

Cindy

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell myself to not get carried away with working the college lifestyle. I would encourage myself to do better in high school in order to prepare myself for the hard task of being a college student. Another piece of advice that I would tell myself would be to not procrastinate on assignments, especially not on long research papers. I woudl tell myself to slow down and not try to act older and to embrace the small things in life. Those are the most important. There is so much to college, but with a bit of encouragement and perseverance, a degree is obtainable.

Ana

Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many classes and try to take more classes than you should to try and finish faster. In the end concentrating on a good number of classes and scoring highly is a lot more important than finishing quicker. Look into research opportunities immediately upon entering as a freshman. Many scholarship and research programs want long term commitments and strive to get entering freshman. Get to know the staff and always take pride in all the work you do, if there is ever any problems or questions, immediately ask for help and resolve the issue, do not wait until the end to try to fix a problem. You may want to take some summers off but never get too comfortable with a job that has nothing to do with your career choice and never take a full semester off of school to work, it is very important to stay focused on school and remember that if you sacrafice a little right now it will pay off greatly in the end.

Karina

I would tell myself to apply for scholarships ahead of time and to apply to a large variet y of colleges. As a shy person in high school, I would encourage myself to take risks and be more active in various school activities. I would tell myself to try and save in order to keep up with collge expenses. I have grown to be more responsible and have learned to be myself. Encouraging my old self to try my very best in order to have a great knowledge base to make the trasition to college classes easier.

Oscar

First and foremost I would advice myself to get into and early college program as this could save me lots of money. In addition, earning your associates while you are still atending high school not only jump starts your college career but it also helps to motivate you and decide on what it is that you are going to study once you do graduate high school. I would also advice myself on making sure that there is enough research done as to what you are going to study because you must choose based on where the job market is at or else you are going to have a very difficult time actually putting into practice everything that you just learned.

Michelle

Continuing my education has not been an easy task but I have learned a lot by experience and there are a few things I would do over if I could. First, I would not have wasted so much time getting jobs here and there that only paid enough to get by. I believe that is one of the biggest reasons for a lot of young people to get off track with finishing their career. If I knew then what I know now, I would definitely look at all the different opportunities that having a career brings to your life. Being uncertain of what I wanted to become as I grew older was a time wasting experience as well. If I could “do it over” I would have researched different careers while still in high school and started off college with classes I needed for my major. Staying focused on school would be another ‘do over’ I would take into consideration; not letting LIFE get in the way of your school and goals would be my biggest advise to anyone who is starting college.

Caroline

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell myself to save money. In high school I started working when I was 16 and since my senior year I only had 4 classes I had enough time to work and play. Unfortunately I did a little to much playing because I took advantage of the "Financial Aid" opportunity I was making. Life happens though, you buy a house, you get married, and your income changes. Not everybody gets Free Financial Aid. Now that I am a college student with a part time job, and a mortgage, a car payment, and bills I regret not having saved money when I was younger because I have to take out student loans. Even though student loans are an investment in your education, in this economy its like if you are going to school to get out with thousands of dollars worth of debt to work at a fast food restaurant. This isnt always the case, but it is hard. So, If I could go back in time, I would definately tell myself to Save, Save, Save!

April

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, knowing what I know now about college life, I would tell myself to slow down and enjoy high school as much as I can. Being that I was always in a hurry to grow up, taking it slow would have been best. I would also tell myself that there is a reason why teachers were hard on us and gave us loads of work, and it was to prepare us for college work. I would have been more grateful to my teachers back then and loved the fact that I was used to a lot of homework. Another thing, I would love to have known that college is not scary at all and actually fun! This would have made my journey to college less anxious and less nerve-wrecking for me as I was scared to go to college after I graduated. Overall, everything is gpooing to be okay and not to give up is perfect advice for myself and any student in high school.

Fujika

Fujika, The life in college is such a complicated be honest. Numbers of reports, homework assignments, part time job and friendship drives me crazy. But I like to be a student of the school. Even though those challenges are not easy for me to be who I am expecting to be , it gives me meaningful experiences to grow and be who I want to become. I am sure that the Fujika from five years ago would not like that but I just want you to know that you have been changed a lot. You are grown each day. So please do not worry about what people think of you. You are already doing good. The way that you live in those days became my foundation today. Just do what you are suppose to do with very best you can, and look for opportunities to serve for your friends. Be grateful for what you have such as your friends and family. Thank you for being that Fujika. Because of you, I am here today. Please make sure to come to BYUH so you can have great experiences and friends over here.

Marjorie

Sometimes life just doesn't stop throwing curve balls. You will continue to loose people who really matter to you. But remember that it wasn't their physical presence that made you who you are or made you better. It was the way they made you think and feel that really shaped your perspectives into more positive and beautiful versions. The people you lost meant so much to you because they saw you for who you really are and loved you for it; encouraging you to be the best person you could be. So even though these people have passed on, continue smiling because they loved you for being you. Always trust that you are where you are meant to be and doing what you were destined to do because there is no better guide than the quiet little voice speaking to your heart. Trust it. Follow it. Fight for it. In the end you know what you are supposed to do all along, you just sometimes needed to hear other people say it for you to believe it. So saddle up, keep your heels down, and hold on for the crazy but fulfilling ride of a lifetime!

Autumn

If I could redo my senior year of high school, I would definitely look into more scholarship opportunities and contests like this one. I would apply to the schools that I am interested in very early, like in September, because some schools give scholarships for early decision. I would complete all of the paperwork very early and have a clear plan of how I will repay any loans.

Melissa

Don't get carried away with the college life. Sure, it might seem like you have all the freedom in the world because you get to pick what classes you want and at what time you want them but you should always remember that school, not partying or hanging out with friends, is your priority. I'm not saying not to go out, I mean, you have to have some time to wind down, but if you have stuff to do for school then you better get it done. You're gonna have more than enough time later on in life to just relax and hang out with friends. Also, there are going to be times when everything just seems like it's falling apart and everyone seems to be against you but don't you ever forget that you are unique in the world and capable of anything when you set your mind to it. That being said, prove them all wrong and always move forward.

Ashley

If I could go back in time with the knowledge that I have I would have strived for valedictorian so I would have had the option of attending my dream school. I would have been more involved in clubs or activities so I would have had a better chance at recieving different scholarships or even just signing up for them. I would have gotten a job so I am not stressing out each semester to make sure I come up with the money for tuition and or books. I probably would have started my own savings fund for college if I new how stressful and expensive it would be. And the last thing I would have done differently would to have just had fun because you can never be a kid twice so why not enjoy it while your young!

Carolyne

I would have still gone into the Marine Corps, because I needed the structure to mature. The change that I would have made, would be to work harder to achieve my degree. I would have had better chances if I had done that before starting a family. The Tuition Assistance would have been easier than any financial aide from any school. If I had applied myself more, I would have been in a better position to stay in until retirement. I would also have put off starting a family while I was so young. My husband and children are great, but I sould have been more focused on planning for a future, instead of living in that present time. I don't know how well I would have listened to my future self, but I wish someone had tried!

Cilda

If I could go back in time to my senior year I would definitely tell myself to look at more scholarship opportunities so that I wouldn't be limited to participate in various college actiivities (i.e. study abroad or out-of-state internships). Also, I would tell myself that although grades are important, it is even more important to create a network and gain experience because that is what will really define your job opportunities; I would definitely stress to myself to meet people on campus and create those relationships . I will say this though, the most important thing I would tell myself is learn to cook! It can be tough being away from home, being a full-time student and having a job, but eating right should not be an option. After my experience I understand that eating right is important to have enough energy to study, work and get involved. Lastly, I would tell myself to enjoy college; it is important to think of the future, but sometimes in all that thinking we overlook great opportunities that can serve as building blocks for what we want to accomplish. I would stress taking a step back to enjoy!

Jesus

I would tell myself to not take a couple of years off before starting college. I would recommend to not second guess what I want to do in life and go through a Major change half way in my educational career. During those two years I was making good money, sure it was a good experience but my high school self should be aware that good money vanishes quickly and you are left wandering from job to job. Education is important and should be his main focus right after high school. Scholarships and financial aid are very important in financing your college career. Please look into many and all scholarships, do not be afraid to write those essays. You will find yourself in a bind and will have to work very hard for something that you could have had an easier time with if you started college right after high school.

Sean

I would tell myself to obtain better study habits. Studying is extremely different from highschool to college. It takes more dedication and hard work because of the materials covered and the expectations of the professors. I would also tell myself to talk individually to my professors because they can be helpful in getting good grades when they see students take the initiative to talk to them. I would also talk to myself about applying for scholarships. I never applied for scholarships as a senior and it would have helped with my education expenses alot especially because my goal is to go to school at UTSA. Applying for scholarships takes time and effort but it pays off by reducing the amout you have to pay out of pocket for school.

Karina

If I could go back in time I'd advise myself to start planning for my future earlier. I didnt know that junior colleges have certain classes you must take to transfer to 4-year colleges. I would tell my senior year self to start thinking what classes I'm going to take right away. I would tell myself to look into what classes are needed to transfer so that I don't waste my first semester taking classes that aren't transferable. Additionally I would advise myself that college is entire new ball-game. If you don't go to class, teachers aren't going to call you're parents or get you in trouble, and it's up to you to make up what you miss. Lastly I would tell myself that it's easy to give up because you're given alot of independence, but if you stay motivated it will pay off in the long run.

Deniz

"Self", I would say, "you should have been more involved in campus life while in high school! If you had done that, you would have had more direction in college. It took you about four years to find what you loved doing in college and that time could have been saved by figuring this out in high school. Also, you should have just leapt and gone out of town for college instead of staying in the town you grew up in! The transition is not nearly as scary as you thought, and it was this unnecessary fear that held you back. Don't let anyone or anything hold you back Self! And finally, you remember that time your government teacher assigned you the role of prosecuting attorney? And how much you loved it? You should have considered law earlier, it suits you!"

Lorianne

What I have gotten out of my college experience is I have learned a lot more in one class then i had learned in a whole year at community college. Also I had teachers who were well qualified to do there job and most were willing to help me learn more. I have enjoyed my teachers and the sporting and performing arts events. It is so important to attend university because I think it better prepares you for the real world then a community college. It also has more resources to help you on your homework then community college as well. Overall, the goods outweigh the bad, so I am for the most part happy with school.

Lisa

I have grown for my experience over the past 2 years. I have learn that in order to be great at any thing in life , I must start with my- self. I went back to college because, I wanted better my-self. I have learnd, by being my true- self ,and learning to accept others as they are make me a better person; at the same time helping other as well. I really like Kilian Community College that I attend. The staff there really makes a person feel welcome, no matter what the age of the person. Unlike some college out there, a student must fit withn a certain group. I know this because, I went to a college before that all the students there was under 20 years in age. Looking back over the time, I have spent there at Kilian community College, I would not have trade it for any thing in the world. I know now, I can go further to reach a higher goal in life with my education. That its never too late to go back to college and reaching my goals.

Jazmin

The most valuable aspect of my college experience has been the opportunity to come out of my shell and become highly involved in projects, organizations, groups as well as continue pursuing my career goal of becoming a doctor. I have gained countless friends and have had the chance to network at conferences and on campus events. The privilege of having an education is worth more than any dollar amount and my education has not only been in Microbiology but also in life and the many social situations I will probably find myself in the future.

Manuela

Going to college is an amazing experiance. Attending college has given me the opportunity to meet new people and learn skills that will stick with me throughout my career. In the Medical Assisting programs I have learned how to draw blood, give injections, and perform CPR. With these valuable skills I hope to continue my education to become an RN in the near future.

Sarah

Out of my college experience, I have gained the ability to cope, understand, and adapt. This applies not just to school, but to life. A wake up call is what I was promised, and its exactly what I received. College has taught me to grow up, and to take some serious responsibility in my life; However, I still have a long way to go! I'm like a toddler, waddling along through this unknown world that I'm pretty new to. I'm not a baby anymore, but I still have to learn to waddle before I can run, and college? Its got the guide lines to get me ready for the track that is life.

Abiodun

I have been able to allow college to go through me while passing through college. I have met different people of different quality. I have learnt not to stop at the top but to always push for more and keeping soaring above the limits. Pacticipating in activities in college as helped to opened my heart and let me explore it like a padora box. I value college mostly because I want to get a degree and a career. Also, college prepare one so the real world and working environment through working, studying and plating with other students. College is the only place to receive a two way package for me; learn about life as it is and get a degree.

Krysty

From my college experience, I have gained valuable skills in succesful studying methods and in hands-on lab practices. I have also learned great time management skills. Although my studying methods were not horrible before college, I had to learn how to take notes without writing nearly every word the professor said. I learned how to outline and diagram class content, and how to use it in a structured problem-solving session outside of class. For most of my life, I have preferred learning through hands-on methods. College allowed me to refine my preference and I am now capable of performing experiments with high yield and purity. Throughout college, I have struggled with time management. College was several magnitudes more difficult than high school, so I had to adjust to the quicker pace that college courses offered. My obsession with high test scores allowed me to adapt to the fast pace of college. I enjoy learning at this rate and I feel much more alive and independent for participating in college. In conclusion, I look forward to attending a 4-year university and pursuing the highest level of education possible. The learning opportunities are endless.

“Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” On the other side of my rainbow is to become a doctor and I feel that passion to help others. I have worked very hard to achieve where I am today. I feel that I have something to offer society, and want to continue to be further educated in my area, Medical Physics. I have become a stronger, organized, and responsible young woman. I have been steered by many teachers to no give up on my dream, and they have shown me that it is never too hard and not impossible to achieve my dream. I will continue to conquer my dream. As Buddha once said “It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles.”

Emma

So far in my college life, I have taken my basic classes. I haven't really had a college experience so far because I still live at home and work full time as well. In getting this scholarship, I hope to have a real college experiecne.

Margaret

Unfortunately for me I have learned that the world is unkind and that my school is part of that world, this has been a valuable experience however because I have learned how to handle myself in this world and I have also learned to say "no" which is something I had never been able to do before. This school is not all bad it does have its good points because it is demanding with how the students learn and that is good. It is just too bad that is puts so much emhasis on its sports curriculum more than on the actual educational side. If I had been able to go out of state to school I probably would have however this was my only choice at the time that I started college.

Roberto

I have obtained valuable skills which have helped me to transfer into jobs aswell as to be able to make more friends. Ihave obtained knowlege that inorder to succeed in school but more importantly in life one has to work hard and manage qell their time and social life to find a schedule that allows for both.

Andrew

i know that more places are requiring a college background to get a job and i have prepared myself for the future as well as rounded myself with the different subjects i am taking as an undergraduate. both being prepared and being well rounded can be a big help to yourself and can help during a job interview.

Anna

The years spent at The University of Texas at El Paso have helped me understand that I was wrong to doubt my questions about life. The motiviation and criticism that I recieved was a blessing, and safe to say now, that all the money and loans that have transformed into a Great Wall of Debt, somehow feels all well worth it now. Unquestionable really, to find out that the skills and knowledge that you have are real, tangible, and changeable; which is the real reason why people should seek higher education. If you allow yourself to let go of some of the "standard education" that public schools often hammer in, you realize that theoritically, a life in education is endless and you are the only one who can question and, in the end, come up with your own answers. That defines college for me. I will also work for my MFA in Creative Writing at another university, but will never forget with I learned at UTEP. I am a student for life.

Lindsey

Even though El Paso is my hometown and the city I grew up in, I began my college career at The University of Arizona. The reason I am applying for this scholarship is because I would like to go back to the U of A but I need help in order to pay off a very large debt. I am very grateful to UTEP for allowing me to register when U of A would not let me, and my experience at UTEP has been very valuable. My general college experience has taught me better time management and how to become a more responsible person overall. It has also been beneficial to me because it has kept me active. In college you do not have much time, if any at all to just sit around; there is always something to do. Being an Education major, college has also inspired me to give back to the community by volunteering at local elementary schools, and I love doing it. Another thing I have got out of college: many more friends; you are always meeting new people. I am looking forward to my last college years, but I cannot do it without your help!

Ana

I am a current student in the University of Texas of El Paso and I am mexican , so I have been studying here for almost three years after passed alls of my life in Mexico so, I can diferentiate both systems. In this nation there are a lot of Universities but UTEP is the best option for anybody that wants to succed in life , this because in the campus yo have anything you need starting with the best environment, prepared Professors, obviously a library which tends to be full on finals and midterms week, any kind of food restaurants and one of the most important things in these days which is nutrition so there is a fabulous gym which can make all student's lifes healthier which is basic because in order to be good emotionally we need to be good also physically.

John

Even though college is hard, scary and very stressful, I would be glad to do it all over again. The experience one gets from attending a university is invaluable. I learned to appreciate the value of hard work by going to school and have a job. Staying up late to study teaches you to appreciate everything you have and will have in the future. I also discovered that I enjoy reading books, especially history literature. When young, you tend to take everything for granted because all your wants and needs are provided to you at no cost. Reality hit me pretty hard after I graduated high school. Life demands that you work for everything you request and if you want something better, guess what, you have to double your efforts. Attending UTEP has taught me to appreciate what I have, and not because I struggled but by talking with other students and realizing that everybody has struggles, and in some cases much harder.

Martha

El Paso, Texas is one of the nation's most impoverished and growing cities. I grew up in a ghetto called El Segundo Barrio, where I longed for a better life, and realized it would only be possible through a good education. At the age of 14 I enrolled in a high school which allowed me to attend communitty college simultaneously. My college experience was definitely not the usual type, as I was also taking high school courses, and later took a part time job at a fast food restaurant to pay for my art supplies. I am currently working on my Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and Painting, and I also just graduated from high school. My college years have been truly valuable, as they helped me mature faster, and have aided me through my journey of self discovery. I will continue to work hard not only in my college classes, but in life, as only that way will I achieve my dream of doing what I love for a living.

Juliana

I have always been very presistent but since I have enrolled in college I have really put it to use. I have become alot more responsible for myself and taken a personal interest in what is going on with my academics instead of just assuming everything is going how I want it to and being blind sided. I have learned to channel my energy and manage my time alot better than at any other point in my life even though I maintained a job all four years of high school. I have had some amazing instructors so far that have enlightend me on many levels. Understanding the subjects, becoming more resposible, and recognizing my goals and what I need to get there has really boosted my confidence and motivated me more to keep working towards my dream.

rosario

After my parents divorced my brother, mother, and I had lost our house and had no place to live in. My aunt already caring for her five children, allowed us to stay at her home in the interim until we were able to pick ourselves up again. I was attending high school during this time and my main priority was to graduate from high school to attend college in hopes of attaining a promising career. During my first year at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) I knew that I wanted to be a nurse. This is when I became involved with the university and joined the Medical Professions Institute (MPI). Through volunteering with this organization, I became increasingly interested in this profession and learned that working in the health field whether a nurse or doctor can be fulfilling. Recently, I gained acceptance into the fast track program of nursing at UTEP and by the end of May I will become a future nurse of this diverse and disadvantaged population. The four years that I was able to spend at this university are valuable and have brought me to where I am today.

Jason

Before I began my post highschool education I was very niave and saw the world in more simplistic terms. I thought the only benefit of an education was the diploma I would recieve upon my graduation. However several truly brilliant teachers have made me appreciate academia for the understanding into the world it can provide. Great writers such as Joyce or Berriault may write works of fiction, but the theme at the heart of these works deals with real emotions and worldly situations that can only be seen through examining them analytically, which is something I wasn't able to do when I had shut out education. This broader view of the world coupled with the responsibilities of an adult life have helped me rededicate myself to the intellectual pilgrimage that is learning in hopes that I will one day be able to have a modest career and a modest life.

Mary

What I have gotten out of my college experience is hope. Hope for my future, and hope for my entire family. This generation, in my family has had the highest amount of family members in college. Higher education gives people the ability to pull themselves up in life. Even with the economy being so bad, people with a higher level of education are more likely to keep their jobs.

Jessica

So far from my college experience I have learned study habits I will carry on to my hopeful future of attending Medical School. I have also learned small valuble lessons of life that have helped me become a better person and a better rounded student. With this said I have now challenged myself to raise my GPA above my expectations so I can have a better chance at succeeding in the future and have challenged myself to obtain a better job for myself so I can raise my standard of living. This school has taught me how to deal with so many problems from fixing my grade to getting tutoring so I can understand my work and get a better grade in my classes. I have learned from this school that a great mind can fail but a trying student can succeed beyond the expectations and even surpass a great mind.

Ada

I am a recent graduate of El Paso Community College , having earned my Associates Degree in Psychology with honors and membership to Phi Theta Kappa ; El Paso Community College has helped serve as a stepping stone to achieving my dream that seemed to distant when I was younger. Being a Social Worker is my true calling and my life's ambition. Helping people while doing what I love seems ideal. While attending El Paso Community College, I had the opportunity to work within my field in various ways. I participated in a program called Service Learning where I was able to volunteer at Cima Hospice while also earning college credit. During my time at Cima, I visited patients at numerous nursing homes and served as a companion and a support system for a few of the patients. Mrs. Ringgold was one of those patients who not only changed the way I looked at life, but also have me the confidence to know that the field I was choosing will be the right one. If I would not have attended El Paso Community College I would not have the opportunity to help others while making my dream come true.

Samantha

My college experience has been an eye opening one. In High School I was us to be pampered by my teachers and counselor. They would push me on my school word and remind me of deadlines. Now I feel I?d have had to grow up from my teen ways and become an adult. The instructors are not you best of friends and if you forget your home work to bad. I am now responsible for myself my actions and have to push myself and meet the entire deadlines which are required of me. College live has been a valuable experience because now I understand the cost of a college degree and the responsibility which comes having to pay a lot of money and my sure you get the best education out of it.

Blake

I would have told myself to never settle for anything. Grades, friends, in sports, or anything else. I slacked off when in came to scholarship opportunites, and I believed it was my parent's responsibility to pay for college, but I am just as responsible for it as they are. I regret not taking the opportunities given to me. I would slap my past self in the face, and tell me to GET TO WORK AND STOP BEING A LAZY BUM!!

Lucero

Because college life is really expensive I would tell myself to apply to as many scholarships as I could. I would also tell me that I would need to study more and to challenge myself to do better.

Ulisses

Well, if I could go back in time to the me as a high school senior i would tell myself to fill out more scholarship application because college life is way to expensive. I would also tell myself to go to a phychaitrist and ask him if he could check to see if you do have ADHD and then when he says that you do have ADHD, and he will, ask him if he could give you medication to be able to control your self and be more attentive in class, because here in college if you are not paying attention and you do not have control over your self you will be left behind and be forgotten.

Morgan

If I was able to go back in time and advise my senior self, I would tell me to stop being lazy. As a senior I kept my grades up but when it came to college I didn't keep up with dates as I should have. As a senior you're so focused on prom, graduation, and the senior trip that the fact that college is right around the corner never hits you. If I could I would tell me to get on the ball and get some scholarships done so that I wouldn't have to be applying for so many now when I could have been doing most then.

Jaime

The chance to go back in time to give myself a few tips would all but worsen things. I would like to go back to when i was a freshmen to tell myself to ignore the life that I was going through and tell me to focus on mathematics. Since I was going to be an engineering major I would tell myself to learn everything possible about the field of math. I would tell myself to determin myself to get the most scholorships available to me. The best advice to myself would be to focus ten times more on school than I did.

Gloria

Since my first year of school, I have always been the type of student that would give one hundred percent in every assignment. Just like many seniors in high school, I hit a point where I slowed down in the number of activities that I participated in. Although I continued to do all the work I needed to graduate, I felt that I didn't have to do as much as I used to do in the previous years. If I was able to go back to this time, I would tell myself not to slow down because that is when I should be doing all that I can to get into a good university. Teachers told me that I had everything that I needed to get into an elite university, I just had to dedicate the time needed to get through all the paperwork to be accepted and receive scholarships. Being a typical high school senior at the time, in my mind I felt that I had plenty of time to do everything. In reality, the days were just passing by and I did not give the one hundred percent that I have given throughout the years.

Jorge

The first piece of advice I would tell myself is to follow what my head and heart tells me. Don?t let anyone else tell me where to go for college because in the end it?s my happiness that will be affected. I would let myself know that the transition is going to be hard because it?s a totally different experience, but it's nothing I can?t handle. Its part of the journey of shaping my life and the person I am supposed to become. I would change my tone and make it a point to make myself aware that I shouldn't procrastinate for it's because of procrastination that I will not receive a 4.0 GPA in my first semester. I would tell myself to not let college and other personal problems get the best of me because in the end it?s going to make everything else that much harder to deal with. So when things get tough and unbearable I would advise myself to take a break and just breathe. The last thing I would tell myself is not do everything alone because in the end you never truly are.
