I've said it once: COLLEGE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. Whatever you go in looking for, you'll find it. There are a million and one opportunities at the U of I. It is sooooooooooo much fun there, always something to do. I love my school, clearly.

Just be open to anything new.

The University TRIES to put in safety procedures...like the keycard swipe ins at each dorm after 7:00 P.M. and getting into the living spaces and things like that...but in the end they end up just being a pain...if you forget your ID in your room you can get back in without any trouble...there are always people moving in and out and the keycard swipe ins really do nothing more than make you wait for someone else to come along....the Campus is very safe and you shouldn't worry about anyone breaking in but just know that their security systems are somewhat in vain.

I LOVE ILLINOIS!

I rushed sororities during the first month I was at school and it was a horrible decision and waste of my $40 registration fee. Not only was I told that "engineers don't belong in the Greek system" but I was also asked by multiple houses what my dad did for a living. I didn't know that was what sisterhood was about. Needless to say, I dropped out of the rush process; it's disgusting. I wish there was more to do on campus. It is disappointing that I go to a school where the night life revolves around campus bars. By the time I actually turn 21 and can legally enter bars, I don't want to go to them because that is where I've already spent my last two years. I might sound like a loser, but it gets pretty old, pretty quick.

GO TO CLASS! (YOUR PAYING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THAT CLASS) GET GOOD GRADES! (IF YOU ASK FOR HELP, THE PROF WILL HELP YOU!) AND HAVE FUN TOO! (IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO ALL THREE!!!) Things you should remember: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OFFICE HOURS SEE YOUR ADVISOR OFTEN THE BARS AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE, DONT HAVE TO GO THERE ALL THE TIME YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR - EXPLORE THERE IS A HUGE DIVERSITY OF PEOPLE HERE... MEET THEM!

Be prepared to have a transition from high school, make time to study, and have the best four years of your life.

On the first day of classes each semester, it's a campus tradition to go to Lincoln Hall and rub Lincoln's nose for good luck. The statue of Lincoln has aged over time and is now green in color....except his nose, which is bronze from people rubbing it for good luck.

Love this school and I would never think of going anywhere else.

Chambana (Urbana-Champaign) is the best college town in the country! Its compact, cheap, run by students, and classy and drunken all at the same time! Go green street!

This place is full of a bunch of people who may never understand what it is to work for your own money and make yourself, most who say they do are lying, because they have their parents to fall back on.

The white population on this campus is way too privileged compared to those who don't have the money. Many of the low income students resort to living in apartments far from campus life because of the cost to live near campus. If you really look close, the majority of students who live within walking distance to the quad are mainly white or well to do students. That is unacceptable.

Personal opinion, don't come to U of I if you don't like to have a good time and work hard. If you don't want your school to be based on sports and you care about the equality of women and you think football is for sexist pigs, Illinois has a womens studies major but you'd probably be better off at Berkley.
