The University of Maryland has many aspects that make it unique. With such a large campus, it is an absolutely beautiful one with a strong sense of community, which is very rare at other schools. It is also a top research university, meaning that the professors are extremely knowledgeable in their field, and students have the opportunity to gain crucial experience working with them during their research. Lastly, when the University of Maryland competes with other schools during sports games, every student holds a very unique pride as a Terrapin fan that you cannot find at any other school!

My school fits many of my preferences, but the top three specifics which inspired me to choose the University of Maryland were that it is nationally ranked and known throughout the nation and around the world for its academic excellence, that it is the perfect distance from my home - not too close, but not too far away- and that my mother also graduated from there, so I may be following in her footsteps.

As I stated above about one of the best things about this school, the location of our school makes it an unique place to learn. Many projects assigned by professors actually require you to travel to Washington DC to research, explore, and record the experiences. There are only a couple other schools arond the area that allow students to go to DC to learn, but UMD College Park is the only one that combines a natural college campus so close to DC.

First, I like the program offered from the school. After researching much information of Robert H. Smith business school, it has been my top choice. The school environment gives me the enthusiatic and dynamic spirit to keep studying. Its business program is applicable and practical. Besides, there are a plenty of opportunies for internships and careers. The diversity of multi-culture is a strength to upgrade their international program and connect many ethnic people close together. The combination of listed things above attracts and encourages me to join and challenge new experieces.

It is where all of my family has gone to College and where my grandfather taught. No where else felst quite right. This is where I belong!

Maryland is affordable for being such an excellent school. It is recognized as a top 20 university in the nation.

The University of Maryland has hundreds of amazing clubs on campus to help new students find their niche. There is always something going on during the weekend and there is so much school spirit at all of the sporting events. Maryland has dozens of colleges with different majors to choose from, allowing you to do exactly what you want. There are many famous and published professors at school that can give you a great education if you choose to put in as much effort as they do.

The library has one of the largest databases on the Eastern Seaboard and is a backup for the Library of Congress. We are also extremely close to Washington, D.C. provide limitless opportunites.

As a native Texan, I knew I wanted a big state school, with the football games, school spirit and Greek life to match. UMD is a big state school, so we have all the appeal of one, but it's very diverse and very culturally-accepting. It has all the appeal of a big state school, but the academics and culture are one of a liberal arts college. Also, the journalism school is amazing, one of the best, and that was hard to turn down. It just feels like home.

At the University of Maryland, learning extends beyond the classroom. By walking on campus the average student experiences new cultures everyday, thus enabling the ability to learn and grow in indelible ways. The amount of extra curricular activities is so extensive, I often find myself overwhelmed with possibility. In addition, the type of student that Maryland attracts makes it the perfect school. I have made the ‘lifetime-best friends’ I had been searching for throughout my adolescence. These best friends along with the foundations of academics will become the structure to lead me in whichever path I choose after graduation.

I mainly chose this school because of location and in state tuition. However, this university has offered much education, chances to make many friends, an opportunity to be very active within the campus community, and a great overall experience.

Although University of Maryland is a larger school it tries it best to make sure that students are more than just a number. Often times at larger schools students feel like their teachers do not know them personally do to class sizes but I found this to be untrue. Most if not all of my teachers made it their business to learn all of their students names. That helps alot it makes you feel important.

Compared to the other schools I considered, my school has a long history with buildings still standing from years ago.

The University of Maryland is truly every student's school. There is a place for jocks, hippies, stoners, and everything in-between. What differentiates College Park from any other college town I've seen is its ability to integrate the diverse students who live there. UMD is a place where students live symbiotically, and you can easily become best friends with the girl in your English 101 class who has virtually nothing in common with you. The environment at my school is one where you can learn about yourself simply by enjoying the company of others.

The University of Maryland offers a unique set of majors and minors. I am majoring in early childhood education and UMD's education program is outstanding and one of the best Maryland has to offer. Another reason I am choosing UMD is for their dance program. I have many friends whom have graduated or are attending UMD and it has been typical for me to hear how fun and exceptional these dance classes are. From my studies of Howard Gardners Multiple Intelligences I think it is important and fun to have physical activity and dance paired with classroom learning.

The University of Maryland is special in its diversity. It is not only about the race and cultural backgrounds of the students that attend it, but it has much to do with the celebration of diversity within and outside of the classrooms. As with the numerous colleges and majors within the university, there is something for everybody at the University of Maryland. Although it is a large university, students are encouraged to explore who they really are and what their interests are, and to find their "niche." I have definitely found my niche at the University of Maryland.

My school is truly diverse, not just in numbers but in our mindset. We all possess an open mindedness to new experiences and fresh perspectives. While my university does have a large student body, classroom sizes are small and intimate. The classroom environment allows for an equal exchange of knowledge and creative thought between professors and students. The pulse that maintains my campus?s heart beat is school spirit. And it is with this rhythmic pulse we Terrapins proudly chant, FEAR THE TURTLE.

My school is considered a big school, however, it does not feel that big to me. The school feels like a community where everyone respects each other and where everyone is willing to help each other whether the help be with schoolwork or by giving advice. In this community, no one is ignored or treated lesser than anyone else. I transferred to my school as a sophmore and I felt just as welcomed had I been a freshman entering the college for the first time.

Compared to the other schools that I considered, UMD's most admiring quality was its access to Washington D.C. It is a quick metro ride to get into the city, which opens up many opportunities for students; such as internships, jobs, and social activities.

UMD is an amazing and beautiful college the provides an excellent education, numerous sporting events, and a wide variety of organizations and social activities.

The school is very diverse and original. Most students have a welcoming attitude towards others and are always willing to discover new things and cultural beliefs practiced by other individuals

The proximity to Washington D.C makes for an amazing mixture of backgrounds, races and income levels. There are groups here but due to the odd 'metropolitan area', mixing is bound to happen - and it does! The unique character is made from the odd jumble living in a densely urban area.

The campus is all located together, almost like a town.

There isn't a typical sort of student that attends UMD, while small versions of cliques do exist, the people who attend Maryland are extremely open and multi-faceted, with varying and engaging interests and spirit.

The extreme school spirit is remarkable. Everyone at the University of Maryland is proud to be a Terp. It's not unusual to see painted faces and chests at every sports event or Terrapin t-shirts in every classroom. I've been approached by friendly Alumni when I go to Washington DC who see me wearing UMD merchandise and want to talk about the school.

The University Of Maryland is uniquely diverse. There are so many students from different races, backgrounds, lifestyles, and religions. My school also has so many ways for its students to become involved in their community and around campus. There is truly a place for everyone to fit in, its a very welcoming and beautiful campus. There are offices such as the OMSE office for Multi-Ethnic Students to receive tutoring and mentoring. The University of Maryland is an incredible University for you to enrich your mind.

University of Maryland is known for having a very diverse atmosphere and there is a club that satisfies just about anything that you would like to do. There is no reason you should not find something of you interests at this university. The teachers come from different backgrounds and there is a great variety in teaching methods and styles.

It is extremely diverse and presents a multitude of persepctives. This allows for a cross-cultural experience that cannot be found in more conservative and less diverse environments. There's something for everyone to do and always more for those who are relatively active to experience.

Perhaps the most unique thing about my school that I found set it apart from others is the diversity on campus. Throughout my experiences, I have interacted with so many different types of people. Whether in the classroom or in a casual setting I have been given the opportunity to witness and appreciate innumerable ways of life. This has by far been the most beneficial aspect of college which I firmly believe has best prepared me for being a productive member of society.

As I was applying for school, I knew I wanted to major in Special Education. The University of Maryland has a top-10 ranked BS/MED program in Special Education, and will allow me to graduate with both a Masters Degree in Special Education as well as teacher-certification for students with general and severe disabilities. This program has given me internship opportunities in school, as well as coursework that will be very benficial for my future career.

The major that I chose is exclusive, creating a family-like atmosphere amoung students and professors.

UMD is located in the middle of Anapolis, Baltimore and DC. The school itself allows you to explore practically anything that interests you, but the accessibility to these cities truly makes it unique. DC provides access to internships in business and government, and access to other parts of the world that other campuses can't come close to. Anapolis has great history and a chance to relax, enjoy the water in the summers, and have a completely unique experience. Baltimore provides further variety. The diversity gives you a chance to learn about people and you are very well connected.

The University of Maryland provided a Music Education degree with a focus on saxophone performance. In other words, I was able to study to become a Music Teacher while maintaining the level of a performance major. The size and location of the school provided numerous oppurtunities for me to perform as well as interact socially with students, teachers, professors, and musicians.

There is a great variety of courses available that one can take, the tuition fees are very reasonable and affordable, research facilities are great and well up to date, internet access all over the university, allot of activites are available, and many majors to choose from.

Everyone is dedicated to obtaining good grades, everyone is hard working. Everyone attending UMCP actually wants to be here.

The campus is beautiful and the people are friendly. I did an overnight at Maryland when I was in high school and that is how I feel in love with the campus and the students. Everyone there is very inviting but I think it was a natural fit for my personality.

U of M is a good school that is relatively cheap. The education you get and the connections you make are well worth the money.

It's a state school that will far exceed any of your expectations for a state school. There is so much opportunity as an undergraduate and so many career options since it is so close to Washington, D.C.
