September’s Back-to-School Scholarship List

Are you ready to head back to classes? I bet your parents have been counting down the days until school starts again. You, on the other hand, are probably not as excited to get back to those long hours behind a desk or working on homework assignments again. Thankfully, there’s one thing you can look forward to…back-to-school shopping deals! But, laptops and backpacks aren’t the only items that should be on your list. There are also plenty of great back-to-school scholarship deals expiring soon. And best of all, you don’t need a coupon or credit card to snag these deals. Just click on the links, and start applying!

1. Veterinary & Pre-Veterinary Academic Scholarship

College juniors and older may apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Students must be declared biology or veterinary majors. Two awards are offered annually. Deadline: September 1.

2. Creative Outlook Art Contest

This $250 creative contest is open to current high school and undergraduate students who have an interest in art or graphic design. Three scholarships are available. Deadline: September 1.

3. The Appsurd Scholarship

Undergraduate students who have an interest in blogging, social media or web apps should apply for this $1,000 scholarship. A total of three awards will be offered. Deadline: September 6.

4. DirectTextbook.com Haiku Contest Scholarship

Back-to-School ScholarshipsThis $500 scholarship contest is open to current undergraduate students. Six awards are offered annually. Deadline: September 11.

5. Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards

Hispanic high school seniors, who have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, may be eligible for this $1,000 scholarship. A total of 150 awards are available. Deadline: September 15.

6. Scholar Smackdown Scholarship

Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded through this contest. Current college students must register through the Scholar Smackdown website with their college email address for a chance to win. Deadline: September 15.

7. Tweet for Success Scholarship

To win this $500 scholarship, students simply need to send a tweet about the pros and cons of e-books. Current undergraduate students may apply. A total of four awards will be provided. Deadline: September 18.

8. CampusDiscovery.com Scholarship

Current college students and recent graduates may apply for this $5,000 scholarship. To enter, students must complete a short survey about their college experience and write an essay (250 words or less) explaining what advice they would give if they could go back to high school. Deadline: September 30.

9. “5 Simple Words” $10,000 Scholarship

U.S. legal residents, who are 14 years of age or older, may apply for one of four $10,000 scholarships offered through Unigo.com. To enter, students must choose five words to describe their future and provide a short explanation. Deadline: September 30.

Simple Scholarships10. Shout It Out Scholarship

This $1,500 scholarship is open to U.S. legal residents who are 13 years of age or older. Students must submit a short response (250 words or less) to the following question: “If you could say one thing to the world, what would it be and why?” One scholarship will be awarded. Deadline: September 30.
