Award amounts may vary based on the number of eligible applicants and the amount of funding available. The average award amount, based on amounts from previous years, is approximately $800 annually. Awards are not automatically renewable, recipients may re-apply each year.
Approximately 2,500 grants are awarded each year.
This grant is awarded, based on need, to Montana resident students who have earned at least 500 times the Federal hourly minimum wage. For the 2013 award year a student must have earned at least $3,625 during the previous calendar year. Recipients must also have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC), calculated by the FAFSA, of less than 8,050.
