Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in and attend high school in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, or Howard County Maryland.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must plan to major in broadcast journalism.

Additional Information: Established to honor the memory of Jerry Turner and celebrate his career in broadcast journalism at station WJZ-TV channel 13 in Baltimore, this scholarship is designated for local area high school seniors in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County and Howard County who intend to pursue a major in broadcast journalism. Selection of awards is based on academic achievement, attached essays, and the quality of recommendation letters.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
