Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four scholarships awarded annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a graduating high school senior entering first year of college.
  2. Must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Must be enrolled full time.
  4. Must be majoring in engineering or engineering technology.
  5. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  6. Must be interested in pursuing a career in the HVAC&R industry.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. and international high school seniors entering their first year college. Students must be entering a pre-engineering, engineering, or engineering technology program and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the ASHRAE High School Senior Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Official Transcript
  • Application form
  • Letter of acceptance
Additional Information: Applicants must be accepted at a post-secondary educational institution that meets one of the following criteria: The institution hosts a recognized ASHRAE student branch; The program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the Partnership for Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Accreditation (PAHRA) in the USA; The program is accredited by an equivalent agency outside the USA that is part of The Washington or Sydney Accord or has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with ABET. Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.

Applications are available online from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) website. In addition to the completed application form, each applicant must submit: official transcript of high school grades; his/her etter of acceptance into an accredited pre-engineering, engineering or engineering technology program from an eligible post-secondary institution; and three letters of recommendation (one from an instructor or faculty advisor, a current or past employer, and another character reference). The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online or mailed to the scholarship trustees at the address provided, postmarked by the deadline date.
