Number of Awards & Eligibility: Eight awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students. Please note: Students must have authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a college junior or senior at time of application. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  5. Must plan to major in computer science or computer engineering.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for female sophomore and junior students who major in computer science or computer engineering. Students must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Additional Information: Applicants must not be receiving full funding for education (tuition, fees, and books or equivalent) from their school or another organization (e.g. members of the Armed Services attending U.S. military academies, students receiving full reimbursement from an employer). Applicants must be enrolled in a program accredited by ABET. Accreditation information for specific programs is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. The award includes a travel grant to the SWE Annual Conference.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $16,000.

Applications must be completed online at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) website. The applicant should submit only one application; she will be considered for all scholarships for which she is eligible. In addition to completing the online application, the student must upload the following documents: current official transcripts from all schools attended; a letter of acceptance to an ABET-accredited college or university (if a transfer student or first-year graduate student); and a resume. The student must also submit email contact information for two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher or college professor in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field who is familiar with the student's work. The other letter must be from a person who has known the student for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the student's family. Recommenders will be sent information regarding submission of their letters; the letters are due approximately one week after the student's application deadline. The online application and all required supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on the deadline date.
