Description: The SmashCut Film Lab gives filmmaking, screenwriting, producing experience and opportunity to work alongside like-minded creatives. Seasoned professionals and screenwriters will provide guidance in developing, writing, filming and editing. The Scripted Film Lab is a $10,000 grant to write, shoot and edit your film.

Application requirements for the Scripted Film Lab are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Personal statement.
Additional Information: Applicants should try to make the best film possible under the parameters of 10,000 dollars. Use these limitations to be as creative as possible! SmashCut Film Lab is looking to have stories with themes that challenge your audience beyond the world you create in your short film. Stories centering on human freedom or liberty tend to have these epic themes. You can interpret human freedom how you wish, but a good principle to check if your idea really shows an individual freeing themselves from some overbearing oppression. You must have the rights if using a published work and to make your film. The film must not exceed a running time of 20 minutes.

Award Amount: This is a $10,000 grant to write, shoot and edit your film.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
