Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five new scholarships are awarded each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a member of Community First Credit Union (formerly the Educational Community Credit Union or ECCU).
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must attend a college or university in Florida.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must have an SAT score of 1110 or higher or an ACT score of 24 or higher.

Description: The Raymond A. Vinson Scholarship is available for high school seniors who are members of Community First Credit Union in the greater Jacksonville, Florida area. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, unmet financial need, and an ACT score of 24 or higher or an SAT score of 1110 or higher.

Application requirements for the Raymond A. Vinson Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Raymond A. Vinson Scholarship is provided annually in memory of Raymond A. Vinson, a nationally recognized Credit Union pioneer who personally helped to establish over 40 credit unions in his lifetime - including many within Jacksonville and Duval County, Florida. Raymond Vinson's dedication to the credit union movement and the economic opportunities within Jacksonville contiune to positively impact people's lives to this very day. Award selection is based on financial need, academic records, standardized test scores, and leadership potential. Finalists will also be required to participate in an interview with the scholarship provider prior to final selection.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable for an additional three years if a grade point average of 2.5 or higher is maintained for the freshman year, 3.0 or higher for each succeeding year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.
