Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately fifty awards are offered each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be enrolled full-time for the current academic year at an accredited college, university or vocational training program located in the State of Illinois.
  2. Must have a grade point average minimum of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale.
  3. Must be a current high school senior.
  4. Must demonstrate ineligibility for federal financial assistance and financial hardships.
  5. Must be an undocumented U.S. resident or DACA recipient.

Additional Information: To be eligible, you must be an Illinois resident attending a high school, college, university or vocational training program located within the State of Illinois. The Anhelo Project is a Chicago based non-profit organization. It works to support undocumented students pursuing a post-secondary within the State of Illinois. Since 2011 The Anhelo Project has awarded over $100,000 to more than 50 recipients pursuing their dream to achieve an education beyond high school. Students do not need to have DACA status so other undocumented students from all racial/ethnic backgrounds may apply. The 2019 Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship will be awarded to eligible high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and/or vocational training students who demonstrate leadership, academic competitiveness, community involvement, and financial need. The Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship recipients must commit 20 hours of volunteer time to The Anhelo Project events during the following academic year.

Award Amount: The Anhelo Project has awarded over $100,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $100,000.

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation. One from an advisor, counselor, teacher, professor or school administrator stating your academic success and community involvement. The other from an advisor, counselor, teacher, professor, school administrator or community organization stating how your undocumented status has impacted your financial hardships for the current academic year. You must also submit a copy of academic history or unofficial transcripts, a resume or CV, proof of income and a signed checklist. All application materials must be submitted electronically.
