Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be female.
  4. Must hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., M.F.A., J.D., M.D., D.M.D., D.V.M., D.S.W., or M.P.H.
  5. Must be a new or established researcher, including tenure-track, part-time, and temporary faculty.
  6. Must be preparing a paper for publication on the topics of engineering, medicine, or science.

Short-Term Research Publication Grants provide help scholars to prepare research manuscripts for publication and independents research for publication.

Additional Information: The American Fellowships program has been in existence since 1888, making it the oldest noninstitutional source of graduate funding for women in the United States. The program provides fellowships for women pursuing full-time study to complete dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research full time, or preparing research for publication for eight consecutive weeks. Topics for eligible for research grants include in engineering, medicine, and science. Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants provide support to scholars to prepare research manuscripts for publication and to independent researchers to prepare research for publication. Preference will be given to applicants whose work supports the vision of AAUW: to break through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance. Time must be available for eight consecutive weeks of final manuscript preparation. While many recipients, especially full-time faculty members, will use the awards during the summer, recipients may use the funds at any time during the fellowship year. Notification of decision e-mails are sent to each applicant in April.

Award Amount: $10,000 to $35,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $35,000.
