Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a current ABC/Ordained pastor of American Baptist Churches.
  2. Must be a resident of Ohio.
  3. Must be pursuing a graduate degree.
  4. Must be pursuing a degree in religious studies or theology.
  5. Must be a member of the American Baptist Churches (ABC).

Description: The Ernst scholarship will be awarded to current ABC/Ordained pastors of American Baptist Churches in Ohio who are pursuing post-graduate ministry degrees such as Master or Doctor of Divinity either at accredited institutions or through a college or seminary extension program.

Application requirements for the Ernst Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Ohio Baptist Educational Society (OBES) offers the Rev. Robert E. and Gladys G. Ernst Scholarship (Ernst Scholarship). The Ernst Scholarship is endowed by the family and friends of Rev. and Mrs. Robert E. Ernst in honor of their fifty-plus years of service to Baptist churches throughout Ohio. The Ernst Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000 to $1,500, will be offered annually and awarded by the OBES according to guidelines set forth in Article II of the OBES By-Laws, with one exception.

Award Amount: Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500 and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
