Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a closely-related field.
  3. Must have maintained the equivalent of a 'B' average.
  4. Must have been accepted to or be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and international students who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Students must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a closely-related field and have maintained the equivalent of a 'B' average.

Additional Information: The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) will award a scholarship to an individual who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need. This scholarship award is presented once a year at NABCJ's Annual Training Conference (usually held in July).

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online from the The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following documents: a 1,000-word essay as to why he/she is pursuing a career in criminal justice and why he/she is seeking the scholarship; a copy of his/her high school transcript; a copy of the acceptance letter from the university or college where accepted; letter(s) of recommendation; and documentation of community/volunteer service. The student's parent, legal gardian, or the student (in the case of an emancipated youth) must also submit a statement explaining prior financial planning for the student's education as well as a statement that describes the present need for financial assistance and supportive documentation in one or more of the following forms: current W-2 form, 1040, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), or financial aid. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted to the address provided, postmarked by the deadline date.
