What is your overall opinion of this school?

Courtney

The best thing about Auburn is the great campus and the friendly people. I would change the parking here at Auburn and making the food plan mandatory for everyone to have. Our school as a whole is just right. We have the perfect amount of people, but there is always room for more people which is going to happen because Auburn is getting even more people. Auburn is a wonderful school and very popular so when telling others where I attend college I get a very positive reply. I do live in the dorm, so I spend a lot of time here and in our sorority chapter room. I also tend to live in the library from time to time. Auburn also has a great administration but I think there is room for improvement. Lastly, the school pride is amazing! The students here love Auburn and what it has to offer us, and the alumni are so wonderful and are such an asset for the college.

Sarah

In my opinion, Auburn is great because it has a close knit college town feel. I love the people here - fellow students, professors, and those who live in the Auburn-Opelika area. Most of the people here have a sense of class and pride in the school and community; for example, each year during football season, the school newspaper receives numerous letters from other SEC schools complimenting us on the good manners of our fans, coaches, and athletic team members. Recently, Auburn received a lot of press regarding Lauren Burke's murder, but that was a very out of the ordinary thing here, and I want people to know Auburn for all of the good qualities it has - not just a school that is associated with a high profile murder case. The academics here are outstanding - I am going proud to tell people about Auburn and my major here; everyone knows that Auburn has strong academics (even more so than the University of Alabama). I can honestly say that I love Auburn with all of my heart!

Stephanie

I love Auburn! It is a great school with a lot of diversity for it being in the deep south. Even though there are a lot of students who attend, the campus seems small and welcoming. Auburn is a small college town and the community outside of the college is very supportive of the school.

Blair

"I believe in Auburn and Love it." I think AUBURN is a shcool that honors tradition. I love the campus and feel like i am a part of the community. It's the perfect size and i love the friendly people. There is one thing that i would change. My major is Radio, TV, and film and i have to fight for my classes. I have spent the night in the Haley center in order to get on a waiting list for classes that i have to have and fight with my fellow classmates about who was first in line. I think this is rediculous. The program desperately needs more funding. It is loosing students to other programs because it can not provide the classes they need. I don't understand how we can lay the bricks in our new buildings the most expensive way to lay bricks and we can't afford teachers to educate the students inside. This is a serious problem and i think the faculty is well aware. I am just comfused about why they won't do anything about it.

Amy

The best thing about Auburn is that it is a big school that feels small enough to be able to call home. I think Auburn is just the right size of school. It is big enough that you don't have to see the same people every day, but at the same time is small enough to be familiar with. I spend most of my time on campus in Spidle Hall. In fact, that is the one thing I would change about Auburn. The biggest controversy on campus was the shooting of Lauren Burke. This is the one problem I have with administration. We were not warned when this happened. Instead, I saw it on Fox News first. After an incident like this proves though that Auburn students are a family and have a ton of pride in the school.

Kristina

I love it here. The school is a little big but i like it that way. I love that it is a college town. I come from Nashvlle, TN, so i didn't know that many people coming here, but that has helped me to meet so many new people. i consider most of my close friends my friends here at auburn.

Alex

I love the comfort that Auburn brings. Going away from my family coming up here freshman year was hard, but being here made it easier because it was so welcoming. I spend most of my time either in the dorms or at the library. The recent controversy or scare on campus was the death of Lauren Burk but for the most part I think the university handled it well, although AU alert wasnt sent out about it until the next day which was really scary.

Sara

I am obsessed with Auburn and love it so much. There is a feeling many get here that cannot be felt anywhere else... it's a feeling of home. I know it sounds so cliche to talk about the "Auburn family", but I truly feel everyone here is a family. Anytime I have been on a trip, even to a different country, there was oddly enough always someone wearing an Auburn hat or shirt and I couldn't help but give a big War Eagle! I get one back and usually a hug because even though they might be a stranger you can always relate to them and feel like they are part of your family! I will admit though that our campus or mostly our buildings aren't up to par like other universities, but they are constantly improving our campus! The biggest problem on campus right now, as it always has been, is parking!! Especially now that they took out half of our student parking to build the brand new dorms. I live off campus so it is a hassle to find a parking place, but our campus transit system is amazing! At other schools the transit system is not very good or just isn't "cool" to ride, but our tiger transit system really is helpful. They have routes all around the city of Auburn stopping at most apartment complexes and they drop you off right in the center of campus. They also have GPS systems on the busses so you can get on their website and see exactly how far away the bus is! I, as well as most Auburn students, take advantage of this great system. Security on campus is pretty good, especially after Lauren Burk's death. There are police always around and we have a very useful security shuttle. It runs all night after the tiger transits stop running and will pick you up anywhere on campus and take you anywhere else on campus. This is a very helpful and safe way of getting around especially for the people in the dorms. It is also a very helpful "drunk bus" as people call it! Downtown Auburn is on the very edge of campus so people in the dorms get them to drop them off and pick them up at the edge of campus because the bars are right across the street! Very helpful in eliminating alot of DUI's! Auburn is a very diverse campus and that's what I love about it! There is a group of people for ANYONE on campus and with our "southern hospitality", it makes it very easy to make friends! Overall... AUBURN IS AMAZING AND WOULD RECCOMEND ANYONE TO COME HERE!!!!!!

Aubrie

One thing I would change about Auburn is for students to have access to the End of the Year accessments we give on our teachers. That way when we sign up for classes, we would have a better understanding of how certain teachers are in the classroom.

Brittany

I think Auburn has the perfect college atmosphere...it has great academics as well as a great social scene. For me, Auburn is the perfect size- not too big or too small. Many schools that I looked at were too large and overwhelming, but at Auburn I felt right at home (even though I am 10 hours from my hometown). It has a small town feel but is huge when it comes to football! Almost every Auburn student is a huge football fan and it shows. Game days are unforgettable and amazing...every single week. Parking is the only "problem" I might say I have with Auburn and its not the end of the world. It may take 10 minutes to find a spot but you most liekly will find one and get to class on time. Auburn has lots of tradition liek Tiger walk and rolling toomers corner after winning a game.

Torry

Auburn is just right. It is not too large nor too small. I think that Auburn University is the perfect choice for getting the college experience. It is small enough to walk through comfortably, and big enough to experience the SEC football games and other things.

Barbara

I think Auburn is a great "secret." IT is a beautiful campus and a great school and because it is not in a major city, and in the deep south, it gets overlooked. Our sports are helping to get Auburn noticed. I certainly felt very competitive in the job market with a degree from Auburn. The most recent controversy, certainly, was the murder of the coed. I have moved around alot and lived in many cities. I have never experienced the pride and comradery that Auburn alums have from any other school graduates. When I find someone else that went to Auburn it is not a subtle bond, it is HUGE!

Allie

I love Auburn. It is the perfect size, i feel safe and welcomed here. Everyone is friendly, and almost everywhere I go, I feel like I know people. I spend most of my time on campus walking around and playing outside. I can not think of anything to change. The only thing i could think of, just recently has been changed, which was library hours. Now the library is open 24-7 with security escorts. Although I do think there needs to be something done about parking for students and maybe sorority houses should be considered! Auburn's administration works very hard to please everyone and they do a great job! I believe that Auburn definitley fits the description of a college town. Our school pride is amazing, and it is not only within students, it is spread throughout the whole town! I love Auburn's old traditions of toomer's corner and rolling the tree after the games, and I will always remember going to football games and pledging my sorority! I do not know of many people complaining about anything other than the parking, which I know will be handled in the future!

Meredith

the family atmosphere here

Carly

My most enjoyable time to be at Auburn is during football season. Auburn University has so many traditions and school pride and it is shown off so well during football season. Everyone greets each other with a "War Eagle" and I have always felt so welcome and involved during football season.

Allison

Auburn is awesome! I love the size of it-- how it feels like a small town but it is a big university. Everywhere I go I see someone I know, which is nice. My favorite time of the year at Auburn is definately football season. Tailgating is always so much fun!

Katherine

If there was one thing I could change about Auburn it would be the process of registering for classes. TigerI works great and makes the process really fast. The problem I have with it is not being able to get in classes because of restrictions. Every semester I have signed up for classes I get done and only have like 3 hours because I have to wait to see if I can get into the other ones. My college makes us sign up on a list for classes and then they put us into each class. This sounds like a great idea except that they don't put you in until months later, which causes problems for trying to get football tickets and stuff like that. Also, trying to get into classes that aren't in my college but that I am required to take are so hard to get into. People I know at other schools have no problem getting the classes they need. I think Auburn should try to think of ways to handle this problem.

Ali

I came to Auburn from Colorado because I used to live in Florida and wanted to come back down to the SEC. However, after my first fall semester here I realized how far it was from home and started looking at colorado schools. But, I didn't transfer because the feeling that I get from Auburn I cant get anywhere else. The location is perfect; it's a small town that only has the university in it, but if I want to go to a city Atlanta and Birmingham are only an hour and a half away. The size is perfect, its not too small to where I feel like there are obvious cliques or groups, but its not too big to feel like that if Im walking on campus I will never see anyone I know. People usually ask me where Auburn is when I tell them thats where I go, or why Alabama all the way from Colorado. But after I explain it they always seem to want to come visit to see. I spend most of my time in Haley Center or the Foy because all my classes are in Haley and it's convenient to just wait in a computer lab or Foy in during my breaks. Auburn's administration is fine, but I feel that I get little to no help on advising for registration and class ideas for the 36 elective credits that I need to fill up in order to graduate.

Julia

I honestly love Auburn. I came from a small town, and although this is a dif. small town it still feels similar. I was very homesick my first semester, but I have grown to love it. Auburn has the best traditions and everyone is genuinely nice. People see Auburn as a prestigious school and I am proud to be a student here.

Sarah

I think we definitely need more security in our big parking lots and the deck at the library. It is creepy if you have been studying late and then have to walk out to your car by yourself in that big garage. I know you can ask for an escort but I would prefer if there was just after hours security guards. THE STUDENT ACT! Compared to Alabama's, our student act is terrible. And if you want to work out you have to do it after five pm if you don't have a c-zone and if you do have a c-zone there is no tellin if you'll get a spot...and joining a real gym is TOO EXPENSIVE. Also, I like the way Alabama takes money out of the money you paid for tuition and gives the students dining dollars with which they can get food at several places. I like the foy sushi!

Kris

The best thang about Auburn is how friendly everyone is no matter who you are or who they are, and how much Auburn pride each student has. One thing I'd change is the parking because it is a HUGE problem on campus and off. Especially when you have guests visit from out of town.

Brooke

I like Auburn because it feels small, but sometimes the town gets boring.

Alli

The best thing about Auburn on the outside is the campus! It is gorgeous and the football atmosphere is amazing! I have meet the most wonderful people here and I believe it is so diverse that anyone can find a great group of friends! School pride is outstanding! Everywhere you turn has Auburn all over it, even the community supports us (knowledge from working at the East Alabama Medical Center). Auburn is Freshmen friendly in the fact that most of your classes Freshmen year are all in Haley and its a walking campus, so everything is close. Also, everyone is so friendly that you can ask anyone around where to go and they will help you! All my friends from other schools that come to visit fall in LOVE and wish they would have gone here!

Allison

I would change the way in which students get football tickets! Every student should have the opportunity to go support their own school's football team! It is so easy to go to baseball, basketball games.. yet we have to STRESS about when we will get to order them, if the computer will freeze because everyone else is trying to access the same site, and what to do if we don't get them (hence I spent $450 on them)... not acceptable. Auburn is such the college town, and that's why i LOVE it! There is SO much school pride, which is absolutely great. Everyone supports each other, especially in the case of Lauren Burk.

Brooke

I think Auburn is the perfect size. It is considered a large school, yet it does not have the huge school feel. People generally are impressed when I tell them I go to Auburn University. It is known for being a great college town, and I love living here.

Mary

The best thing about Auburn is the people. They are so friendly. It is the perfect size school. I get different reactions about going to Auburn. Alabama fans think its stupid. I spend most of my time on campus in Spidle Hall. I think that the administration does a decent job. They could have handeled the Lauren Burk case differently. There is a TON of school pride. Everyone that attends Auburn is proud that they do. I will always remember living in the dorms.

Alex

The best thing about Auburn is the size of the campus and the friendliness of the people. when i first came to Auburn i was shocked at how nice every person was. i spend most of my time in the quad because that is where i live. i would say the most complaints would be about the cafeteria and hours of operation. there is a lot of school pride everyone i have met has said how great of a school Auburn is.

Katherine

Auburn is a big school with a small school feel. The campus is beautiful and easily accessible. Parking is a rather big problem but that comes with any big university. There is a sense of camaraderie felt when walking around campus that shows the strength of the Auburn family.

Sara

I absolutely love Auburn football and love how the love for Auburn can be found everywhere. Even when I'm back home, it seems that Auburn fans are the most friendly. Everytime I wear an Auburn shirt or hat, people always approach me to talk about Auburn.

Addison

The best thing about Auburn is the way the town feels and the people around. Also the football program! I wouldn't change anything I love this school. My school is just right. People usually gasp and say how they've heard so many great things about the school. I spend most of my time in either the library or Spidle Hall. Auburn is definitely a college town. I love downtown! I really like the administration all of my professors are encouraging and helpful. The murder of Lauren Burk. Yes, there is tons of school pride. The only unusual thing i can think of is the fact that we dont have sorority houses. M most memorable experience will be football games! Parking has been a complaint.

Kaitlin

Auburn is the best school imaginable for academics, social, and a home away from home. Everyone who attends Auburn is such a family. It is a big school but it feels so small. I see people I know all the time because the campus is not very big. The best thing about Auburn is the spirit we have everyday; being the tigers and saying War Eagle and wearing orange and blue! It is in a perfect college town and everyone can find someone to relate to here or something to get invovled with. The greatest thing this year that let me know what a family Auburn is was when Lauren Burk died. Our gymnasium was FILLED with people for her memorial service and majority of us did not know her but we lost one of our tigers and we all felt the pain. It was beautiful and sad all at the same time.

Lauren

The best thing about Auburn is the traditions in which it holds. Toilet papering Toomer's Corner, Tiger Walk, all of the chants and cheers, the Wareagle flight, closing down the downtown intersection for pep rallies, and all the Alumni that still love this place so much make it such a unique school and gives students something to get excited about.

Whitney

I think that Auburn as a whole is one big family. Whenever you walk around campus you always see people saying hey to everyone they run into, even if they don't know them. The recent tradgedy that Auburn experienced really brought us all together to be strong and stand up for our campus. Even though I didn't know Lauren, I felt as though I had a bond with her being at Auburn.

Allison

Tradition tradition tradition

Dean

The best thing about Auburn is how friendly everyone is. It is a big school with a small feel. I feel like I am an actual person to all of my professors, not just a number. Also, I have met so many awesome people!

Amelia

The best thing about Auburn is the sense of family and how everyone feels so connected even though there are SO many students. If there was one thing I would change it would be how the non-greeks don't feel as included in the social scene. I think Auburn is just right. There are enough students to continue to meet new friends but it is also small enough that when you are out you can easily see and run into the people that you want to. People are normally pretty impressed when I tell them that I go to Auburn. I spend most of my time on campus in the library or the hill for sorority meetings. The biggest recent contraversy was definitely the safety of the campus after Lauren Burk's death. I think there is a TON of school pride! One experience I will always remember is definitely bid day when I got my bid to Pi Phi!

kelly

The best thing in Auburn is the spirit. The size is just right. I spend most of my time in Haley on campus. I love the fact that Auburn is a little college town. The biggest controversy has been safety with the Lauren Burk case. There is so much school pride. I'll always remember my sorority sisters.

Elizabeth

The best thing about auburn is that it is a big school but you can find a close group of friends, there are alot of things to do. I would change that we do not have sorority houses. I spend most of my time on campus in my dorm, class or in the library. I will always remember football season and the student section.

Alysen

The best things about Auburn are the people, campus, sports, and community. The best part of the fall is tailgating and watching our awesome football team. One of the reasons I chose to go to Auburn is because of the size. I wanted big classes, lots of people, and the divison one football team. People always respond well when I say that I go to Auburn, except when they are a UGA or Bama fan. I live off campus, so I am only on campus for classes. But when I am on campus I spend my time in Lowder, the library, or Foy. Auburn is the definition of a college town. The whole town supports the university, and I like to think that we do the same. The biggest recent controversy on campus was Lauren Burk's death. Many students were very upset, scared and confused. The administration has been open to change since then and has made good changes. There is a ton of pride in Auburn. The whole university turns orange and blue on football saturdays and supports all the activities of the sudents, athletics, and organizations. One thing unusual about Auburn is that the library turns into social hour on week nights between the hours of 7-10. So if you need to study, don't go there during those times. I have had so many amazing experiences that I can't pick just one.

Courtney

Auburn is just right for me. My major is Interior Design and they have one of the best programs in the country. When looking at colleges, this is the only place I looked at that I really loved. It is definiately a college town, and there is so much school pride.

Natalie

Auburn is beautiful. It's a great Southern school. HUGE football school. Big greek system, where everyone is really involved. There is a lot of school pride and southern hospitality. Mostly everyone is very kind and generous, big on saying hello or "war eagle" to just anybody. In recent events (Lauren Burk tragedy) the campus has become much more protected. I see around 2-3 cops on campus when walking to a class. We also have escorts and buses to transport students at anytime during the day to where ever they need to go.It's a small town, easy to get around. Overall just a really respectable, fun, wonderful school.

Mallory

I think the best thing about Auburn is that the atmosphere is very much like "home" and it feels extremely safe. I also like the fact that Auburn as a whole is a beautiful place to live, not just the campus. I think the size of Auburn is "just right." I like the amount of people on campus because I enjoy being a part of a big school. People generally react nicely to the fact that I go to to Auburn. To most people, Auburn is a very well respected and admired school.I spend most of my time on campus in the Library or in Foy Student Union.

Molly

Auburn is great! I love that Auburn is all about tradition and close ties to family. I truely believe Auburn is one big family( alums, students, faculty...) I love the traditions and teaching upcoming freshman about our traditions. Auburn is something you can never understand until you experience it for yourself. I believe in Auburn and Love it!

Dylan

Auburn is the perfect size school. I spend most of my time at my house. The biggest recent news on campus was Lauren Burk's death. There is an extreme amount of pride. The parking is terrible at Auburn and something should be done. Also, a new Student Recreation Center should be built.

Allison

I'm not that big of a fan of Auburn, I dont like how there is no dining hall that has good food or that no one eats there, Foy sucks and its really hard to adjust to college and not 1. have a car and 2. not have anywhere good to eat on campus. I would change many things about Auburn. But I do like the friends I have made but its still hard. When I tell people I go to Auburn and i'm in the south they ask me who i know, if i am at home no one knows what it is.

Meg

Auburn is a big school but it feels like a small close knit community in its little college town. Auburn is a town full of school pride in almost every sport. A few things that I might change is one parking of course and two making more interaction with the admin.

Rachael

Auburn is a very close knit college town. I came from a small private high school and at times Auburn can seem really big but it can also seem really small. Generally, people in Auburn are very nice, polite, and respectful. I think that there are plent of extracurricular activities to get involved in on campus. There is also a variety of things to do at night. Football is amazing! The support for the team is also overwhelming. As far as academics, I think that Auburn has a very strong academic curriculum. I honestly do think that the Science department (Chemistry is particular) needs better administration that can teach the difficult material in a way that students can learn/understand it. That was my reasoning for changing my major from Pre-Health to Accounting.

Katherine

The best part about Auburn is the friendliness of the people on campus. There is always someone that will help you out! They call it the Auburn Spirit The size of the school is just right because it is large enough to meet someone new, but small enough to easily see someone you know on campus. The best part about Auburn is football season obviously. Being a part of the SEC has its perks. The games and campus are always full. It really is a great place to tailgate and talk with alumni, family, and friends.

Kirstin

Auburn is definitely a college town. Spirit during football season is amazing. Watch out for crazy guys that come and "preach" to everyone on the concourse.

Elizabeth

My favorite thing about Auburn are the football games and the tailgating that goes along with it. Also I think it is great that Auburn is a walking campus (like you don't have to drive to get from building to building). I think that Auburn is a great size, I could go for a little smaller but it still works for me. One thing I would change about Auburn is the parking. The parking lots are way too far from the dorms; makes me scared sometimes to walk to and from my car at night.
