What is your overall opinion of this school?

Carey

Auburn is a cool laid back school, i would change the parking situation, i'd also change how registration goes down because there are never enough classes open for people.

Alyssa

I love Auburn University so much. I love the friendly people, my classes and professors, the beautiful weather, the cute town, and of course, our campus. I think its the perfect size, its big but it feels a lot smaller and I feel like I know a lot of people already. I feel like Auburn is such a respectable school because it is decently hard to get into out of high school, the classes are challenging, but it is doable. School pride is unbelievable and you will only understand Auburn pride if you go here. I never hear a lot of complaints except maybe the parking services.

Rory

I think that Auburn is a good size but one thing that I think needs to be changed is the parking arrangements. People are constantly getting towed and there is not enough parking.

The best thing at Auburn is that everyone acts as a "family" and if you need an answer, just call FOY! One thing I would change is security. After the Lauren Burke incident we can never be too safe, and I feel that Auburn has been doing a good job of increasing security (adding hidden cameras, more police around town, etc.). One of the reasons I chose Auburn was because of the size. I didn't want to go to a big school like Georgia, but I didn't want to go to a small school either. Auburn is right in the middle of both. When I tell people I go to Auburn, they normally say "oh wow do you know ____?" When I'm on campus I normally spend most of my time in my dorm room. One experience I always remember is as a freshmen going to my first Auburn football game, when the eagle flew over the stadium and down I got chills in my arms. That's how I knew I was at the right school!

Auburn is a perfect small town, large university. Students are so proud to attend Auburn, more so than I can say about any of my friends at other schools. We love football, traditions and the South.

The best thing about Auburn is that it is the anchor of the college town in a growing metropolitan area (Auburn-Opelika). One thing that I would change is the requirement that every campus organization must put in a minimum number of community service hours per semester or academic year to be registered with Auburn University. Auburn is just right for its size. There is no special reaction when I tell people that I attend Auburn. I spend most of my campus time in the RBD Library, in class or at W.E.G.L. 91.1. Compared to smaller places like Carrollton GA (where I received my master's from the University of West Georgia), Auburn is among the better college towns. But having received my undergraduate from the University of Georgia, I can tell you that Auburn is nowhere near Athens, Boston, Chapel Hill, Austin TX or most of the reputable college towns. The present administration of Dr. Jay Gogue is making good attempts to become open, though I realize that Dr. Gogue must be different things to different things, namely students, alumni, trustees, Alabama citizens et al. The Lauren Burk murder and some of the resulting complaints about AU Alert's functioning in informing us about what happened serves as the biggest recent controversy. There is a lot of school pride among some undergraduates. The unusual thing about Auburn is the number of international students and faculty that are here. The experiences I can remember most are the various activities that I have been involved with, particularly with W.E.G.L. 91.1 and the Black Student Union. The most frequent student complaints are about the raise in tuition and student activity fees.

The best thing at Auburn is the atmosphere. - If there was one thing I could change, it would be all of the construction that is always being done on campus. - Auburn is just right, you know a lot of people, but meet someone new everyday. - People are impressed I guess when I tell them I go to Auburn. It is a well-respected university. - I spend most of my time on campus in the library or the student union. - Auburn is definetly a college town. - Auburn's administration is good in my opinion, I have never had a problem. - The biggest recent controversy is probably those against concealed weapons those for. - There is so much school pride it's unbelievable. I am very proud to be an Auburn student. - There is nothing unusual about Auburn, maybe how obsessed we are with football, but it's the same for any southern college. - The experiences I will always remember are the football games. - There are no frequent student complaints that I know of.

The best thing about Auburn is that it is a large university with a small-town feel. I know so many people on campus that it is hard to believe that we have 20,000+ undergraduate students. The traditions associated with athletics are legendary. Rolling the trees at Toomer's Corner to celebrate a key football victory (a.k.a. the last six Iron Bowls against the 'Bammers) is something I will never forget. I spend most of my on-campus time going to classes, although when I lived in the dorms I used to hang out with people there, too. Auburn's administration/support services are the one sore spot in my experience at this institution. It is often difficult to find information that you need, especially on the university's website. I have been redirected by numerous offices only to find myself back at square one. The biggest recent controversy on campus is this week's murder of freshman student Lauren Burk. The incident was rather tragic and came as a shock to the community. We haven't had a violent crime like that since I arrived on the Plains. Second to that is probably the speculation following the end of last year's football season that head coach Tommy Tuberville was going to leave for another school. Anything football-related makes the front page of the campus and local newspapers without question.

Auburn is the best school you could ever dream of going to. It has that great down home atmosphere with the greatest teachers. Here you will make best friends and experience traditions you will never forget.

Elizabeth

The best thing about Auburn is the people. Everyone is friendly. The size is just right, when you hear 20,000 under grads it seems like a lot but when you're walking on campus it seems like it's about 2,000. I spend most of my time in my dorm room, it's quiet and comfortable; Auburn's dorm rooms are much bigger than other SEC school's rooms. The main focus of Auburn, Alabama is Auburn University; it's a strange feeling when you drive around and realize that there are actually people who live hear who don't go to Auburn. School pride is HUGE at Auburn, especially when it comes to football. Pep Rallys are so fun because the whole city of Auburn comes together to celebrate. Parking is a hastle for some but since I live on campus it's not a problem for me.

Katherine

Auburn has a small town feel with all the benefits of a large SEC school. Auburn has many unique traditions that bond our students and alumni. I get chills at every home football game when the Eagle flies around Jordan-Hare Stadium and rolling Toomer's Corner is an amazing post game tradition. I went on several college tours around the SEC but did not come across a campus as unique or that has the same feel as Auburn. Auburn is a truly unique place that can not be described. I truly had to visit the campus to get the feel of the school pride and the true southern hospitality.

Morgan

The best thing about Auburn is the tradition. We are a school that believes in tradition and try to keep that part of our everyday lives. We roll Toomer's corner for a football win, a swim meet win or even a win for the tennis team. We take pride in the traditions we have kept alive at our university. Auburn as a town in only here because of the university. You will see many older folks here but mainly the only people in Auburn are people that either work or attend the university. One problem with our school is the never-ending construction. I have been a student at Auburn University for four years now and not once was there no construction. The construction is a nuisance but the university is only trying to improve for the students. The construction of a new student center and dormitories might be annoying now, but in years to come will only benefit other students and make our college better than ever.

-Best thing: People -Size: Just Right -Time: In the Engineering Labs - Library -College Town -Great Professors -Parking is a Problem -So much school pride -Rolling Tomers! -Football in the student section! -We need more Parking...

Meredith

The best thing about Auburn is that no matter where you wind up, whether it be a northern or western state, or even another country, you will most likely find someone who can express the spirit of Auburn with the ever common "War Eagle". No matter how far away from "home" you are, having that in common with a complete stranger brings you back to the fun times, football games, tailgating, and (if there's time) study parties. The size of the student body and staff is just right for me. Some people may prefer a smaller school but personally I enjoy seeing new faces and meeting new people in each class. Usually the only time controversy is ever a problem is when a fraternity might take initiating the new guys a little too far with hazing or putting them in embarrassing situations. For the most part, it is all in good fun. The most frequent complaints among Auburn students is probably parking. On a nice day, there isn't anything better than getting a little exercise and enjoying the beautiful campus, but that is not always the case with the weather. However, Auburn has the transit system, which provides a bus that will pick you up at your apartment or dorm and take you right to the center of campus. Curbside service, what more could we ask for!

elizabeth

auburn is just right. i would change the parking scene on campus and allow more cars to be able to park. the best thing about auburn is the friendly atmosphere, especially gameday weekends.

Kristen

The best thing about Auburn is the Auburn "family" even though that sounds so cheesy. If i could change one thing, I would change sorority housing out of dorms and into houses. I think Auburn is the perfect size, big enough to get away from people you do not want to see and the perfect size in that I know people everywhere I go. Everybody who I tell I go to Auburn either reacts with "I love Auburn! WAR EAGLE!" On campus, I spend most of my time in Haley center and also in the library, also in my friends on campus dorms and my sorority dorm. Auburn is the perfect description of a college town, it has everything a college student could want, besides a decent mall. A good mall in in Montgomery though which is only about a half hour drive down 85. Auburn is HUGE on school pride, especially during football season. Girls dress up in their orange and blue dresses while all the boys dress up for the games and set up tailgates the night before gameday. An unusual thing about Auburn is that we have the eagle that flies around the stadium before every home game. Also, we roll toomers corner after every big win, home or away. One experience I will always remember is rushing and bid day, which were in the middle of August in 100+ degree weather and how happy everybody was when it was finally over and all the girls had found their new homes. Another experience I will always remember is when I visited Athens for the Auburn/UGA game, I will never forget how rude the UGA fans were and I was just thinking the entire time, Auburn fans would never treat an opposing team like that in Auburn, except maybe an Alabama fan. (just kidding). The most frequent student complaint is the parking situation on campus. There is not enough of it, and the few parking places that we have are far away from the dorms.

Amanda

I love Auburn. The campus is beautiful and the size is perfect. The only thing i would change is the large amount of very annoying traffic!! My favorite building Auburn has is the library-it's huge! The library is full of computers, coffee shops, separate study rooms and floor, and many librarians to help with all sorts of problems. Auburn is a college town, everything in the town is geared toward students. The school pride is amazing! Every one of us students LOVE our Auburn tigers!

Lauren

Auburn. Where to begin. When I first moved to Auburn I had just graduated high school with 32 other people, so moving to Auburn was definitely a culture shock. Immediately I fell in love with campus and the perfect little town. It felt like home. There were cute stores downtown and larger shopping in a town close by, just like home. Everyone was very nice and wanted to know about you. The first memory I have is when I was at Camp War Eagle, the freshman orientation sessions, and as we were sitting on Samford lawn a streaker ran across in front of all of us. Probably not the best memory, but I'll definitely never forget it. The football games are probably the most fun I had had in my life. Every student stuffed into the student section, with shakers and orange and blue on will immediately give you chills. But when our eagle flies over you know that this is truly a place that will stay with you forever.
