Someone who would like a more equally diverse school

My school is full of diversity. I can't imagine a person who would not find their role at Iowa State University. There are hundreds of ways to get involved and enough courses of study that anyone could find something that would interest them.

Someone who is not looking for a diverse environment or a big school atmosphere. With over 33,000 students, there are people always around and you are bound to run into someone different from you on a daily basis. If you don't want to expand your cultural horizons, or do not like large groups of people, this probably isn't the best place.

Iowa State has an extremely diverse campus, so I don't know who wouldn't have a good experience here... I suppose anyone who doesn't go to class or make any effort to socialize and make friends. Even so, I am a pretty anti-social person, and I still found a large group of friends just by living in the dorms.

This is a fairly large school. If you do not like being around people all the time, this is not a great option for you. Most of the people here are really friendly, but there is not a whole lot of options if you want to go somewhere where there are no people, especially if you are living on campus.

People who want to get a great education . I personally am interested in becoming a veterniarian and this was the best choice in the state of Iowa. Iowa State is a wonderful school for many fields.

people who need to live near a city and feel stressed in a smaller town.

I believe students who are not comfortable in a large university size should not attend Iowa State University. There are people always surrounding you and the class sizes are large until your later years of schooling. It would be a shame for a student to attend and not utilize the immense number of activities going on here.

Someone who doesn't wnat to be social and would need more one-on-one classes. Most classes are larger until you get to your fourth year they say.

If you are a big city person, ISU might not be right for you. While it has any and all normal amenities you could ever want, you'll often have to travel to Des Moines for other entertainment like concerts.

I believe that somone should not attend this school unless they are willing to put in hard work towards their degree.

Iowa State is a great place for many different types of people, but if you aren't outgoing and want to go to college to "get a degree and get out," then this isn't the place for you. Iowa State offers many ways of getting involved whether it be student government and organizations, intermuerals, or greek life ect. There is a place for everyone at Iowa State because college is about finding yourself and becoming ready for the professional world and if a person isn't ready to get involved here, they aren't ready to go to college.

I don't think people who are from larger communities should attend this school. It is very small town, and full of people from farm communities. I am from Denver, CO and I have had a very hard time trying to asjust to living and going to school in such a small community. There is not much to do other then school, party and drink.

I think a person who particulary doesn't like the cold should not go to Iowa State University. Iowa has bitter winters and Ames is flat, making it very cold. But on a serious note, just as it is with any college, people should not attend this school if they do not have the motivation to keep up with their studies.

To be honest, any person could attend school here. There is literally something for everyone. We have over 800 student organizations to choose from and if a student can't find something they like, they can start their own club. The college atmosphere here is great. It is a great school as far as the education goes. Iowa State offers a wide variety of majors with exceptional programs for each one, especially engineering. If someone wants to make friends, get a great education, and leave college with a lot of memories, Iowa State is the place for them.

The school is very Engineered, Business-like, and Ag- related. That seems to be the top 3 colleges that are at the university. It can feel overwhelming if you are not part of those 3 colleges. If going into teacing, I would recommend going to UNI. I hear that UNI has a good teaching program in Cedar Falls.

People who are not focused and able to dedicate themselves to further education should not attend the school. There are many opportunities available here if you choose to explore them.

A lazy uncommitted person should not attend Iowa State because the classes require work and are difficult.

Honestly I think Iowa State has something to offer for every type of person, be they artsy or logical ISU handles both really well. The only people I think that should not attend Iowa State would be people that don't want to try or work very hard, Iowa State like most accredited universities are just not the place for those kinds of people.

People who can take responsability for themselves shouldn't attend ISU. Many classes don't take assistance and most consist of lectures but if you cut class all the time you will fail.

Someone fun who wants a great education and a great experience. They should be academically driven and look for a small community feeling with a large schools opportunities.

A person who is against diversity should not attend this school. Any form of discrimination is not welcome.

I honestly feel like anyone could attend this school. There are plenty of majors and lots of places to fit in.

Someone who doesn't like exploring campus shouldn't go to Iowa State. It's the kind of place that has a bunch of wonderful hidden aspects that only the people who enjoy exploring find.

A lot of people like to have a good time at Iowa State University, but the successful students find time for school work. If you only like to party and are not willing to put any work into your classes, you should not attend Iowa State University.

People who are not from midwest. Honestly, it's a pretty laid back state and if you are coming from California or New York, you will surely get a tough time settling down.

I think it is more difficult for people from a small town to attend Iowa State. I'm not saying that they shouldn't attend, but it is much more of an adjustment for people when their first lecture class is filled with 4x's the amount of people in their high school graduating class.

Someone who wants a terrific education but is willing to work at it. If you can't see yourself going to class regularly and paying attention to every concept brought up by the professor, this school might be too tough. However, if you are willing to do those things, you will succeed here.

People who don't like to walk to class should not attend this school, because our campus is really big and the buildings are spread out. People who don't like culturally diversed areas should not attend this school because this is a very diversed campus.

Someone who isn't dedicated to learning what they need to for their classes; someone who isn't serious about education.

Someone who doesn't like a bigger campus, it doesn't feel big but its pretty big none the less. Someone who isn't willing to get to know someone, its a very friendly campus.

Everyone who desires a college education and is willing to study should attend Iowa State.

Someone looking for a smaller school that allows you the feeling of a large family, and who is looking to focus on agriculture or business.

A student that should not attend this school is a student who does not want to get involved. Iowa State has over 500 student run clubs and organizations, and the university provides so many ways to get involved. A student who believes getting involved or giving their time to someone other than themselves is a waste should not attend this university as this campus as all about giving back. However, I believe the university has so much to offer to students that even the most uninvolved person will find themselves within some type of organization on campus.

People shouldn't attend this school if they are afraid of a large campus. They should also avoid Iowa State if they don't like to get involved or excited about their education.

Anyone can attend this college.

I don't think that there isn't anyone in specific that shouldn't attend this school. It is a decent size school, not too big and not too small. If you are looking for either of those, then Iowa State isn't for you. People can put as much or as little as they want into the school and can expect to get the same amount back.

A person who is not willing to work hard to get where they want to be in life. For example, someone who doesnt care about their future enough to go to school and try to succeed.

Well considering that Iowa State is the College of Science and Engineering, I would suggest that mostly engineering and any science related majors come here. Although Iowa State seems to have a huge design program as well, I'm sure there are other colleges with equally or better design programs. Otherwise, no specific personality type should not attend Iowa State.

A person hoping to be a doctor may not find Iowa State fitting. Anybody seeking a small student body probably would not enjoy Iowa State. This school is not a law school, although it does offer pre-law. Therefore, students seeking jobs in the medical field or in law should not go to this school unless they want to use Iowa State as a step between high school and transferring to a university with the appropriate facalities.

A person who is not motivated should definitely stay away from Iowa State.

Anyone who is from a big city and only appreciates that urban lifestyle. If you are not willing to sacrafice the large crowds, hectic traffic, and commercial noice polution of city life, than don't apply to Iowa State.

A person who is used to living on the beach should not attend this school (although I met one who did)! What I really mean is, it is not warm in the fall and winter months, which is the entirity of my college experience so far. Bundle up!

A kind of person that shouldn't attend this school is one that is not willing to put forth effort into every class you take, especially science classes. Those that feel overwhelmed with class sizes of 400+ would also feel very lost and unimportant to the university.

Be social and welcoming to the diversity on campus along with keep an open mind. Keep a balance social and academic life.
