Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be enrolled in Collin County Community College, El Centro Community College, Everest College, Southeastern Career Institute, Tarrant County College, Texas Wesleyan University, ITT Technical, Kaplan College, Lawyer’s Assistant School, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M Commerce, Westwood College or Texas Woman’s University.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must work as a paralegal.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  6. Must be a resident of Dallas, TX.

Description: Dallas Area Paralegal Association Scholarship is available to Dallas-area paralegals who are currently enrolled in a local college or university. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The Communities Foundation of Texas has been a partner with local individuals, families and businesses for raising the quality of life in the Texas community since 1953. Providing scholarships to deserving students is an important part of this mission, in the hopes that financial assistance will help these students to reach their full potential in high schools, colleges and continuing education across the country. This scholarship is awarded each year to students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who are enrolled in paralegal programs at the following area institutions: Collin County Community College, El Centro Community College, Everest College, Southeastern Career Institute, Tarrant County College, Texas Wesleyan University, ITT Technical, Kaplan College, Lawyer’s Assistant School, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M Commerce, Westwood College and Texas Woman’s University. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Award Amount: Up to $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in late January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications and additional information are available on The Communities Foundation of Texas website. To apply for this award, students must first register an account with The Communities Foundation of Texas. Upon registration, students will be prompted to supply personal information for the general application. In addition to the online general application, the student must submit the following: evidence of eligibility for admission to an accredited four-year college or university (transcript, record, or endorsement letter by school official on school stationery will suffice); and responses to the questions and essay prompts listed on the specific award's application. All applications, essay responses, and electronic supporting documents must be submitted online prior to the deadline.
