The Foundation of Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In prior years, three scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must have applied to a master's degree program by the time of the application deadline. Please note: Scholarships will be awarded on the condition that the candidate is accepted in a master's program. If selected, the candidate will be required to provide proof of acceptance into graduate school and contact information for the financial aid office
  4. Must major in accounting or finance.
  5. Must have a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Additional Information: The mission of the Foundation is to promote and advance education, career development, and leadership in finance and accounting, with the goal of guiding women to achieve success in their careers. Scholarship candidates will be reviewed on leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average, and financial need. Scholarships will be awarded in May for the following academic year.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available on The Foundation of Accounting & Finance Women's Alliance (AFWA) website. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following supporting documents: an essay of 150 to 250 words describing her career goals/objectives, what impact she wants to have on the accounting and financial world, community involvement, and leadership examples; an official transcript of all work leading to exam eligibility; and an endorsement form from an AFWA chapter or member (optional). All application materials must be emailed by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
