Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies from year to year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of one of the following counties in Pennsylvania: Dauphin, Cumberland, or Perry.
  2. Must be accepted in a nursing or planning to pursure a career in nursing.
  3. Must demonstrate financial need.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is for undergraduate nursing students from Dauphin, Cumberland, or Perry counties in Pennsylvania.

Additional Information: The Roberta L. Houpt Scholarship Fund is an endowment fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The income from the fund is used to assist students from Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties studying nursing at a college or university of their choice.

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online from The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) website. In addition to a completed application, applicants must submit a copy of high school or college transcripts; FAFSA Student Aid Report along with a letter with information that may be useful in determining her financial need (e.g., family and student income); her letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment (transcripts showing progress in nursing program will meet this requirement); two personal reference letters - one from a science teacher and the other from someone who can speak to her ability to successfully complete studies, such as a teacher, employer, or mentor; and a 300-word essay describing her interest in nursing. The letters of reference, official transcript, and Guidance Counselor form must be mailed to the address provided, and the rest of the application must be completed online. All materials must be received by the deadline date.
