In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Students are expected to major in Vocal Performance and maintain a 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale

Description: You’ve worked hard. We’d hate for a little thing like money to be the roadblock between you and your dreams. Schmidt Vocal Competition winners who choose to pursue a career in music may be eligible for need-based scholarship assistance to their college or university of choice.

Application requirements for the Schmidt Vocal Competition Scholarship are:

  • Application form
Additional Information: First Place, $2,500 Second Place, $2,000 Third Place, $1,500 Finalists, $250 Encouragement, $100 Most Promising Sophomore, $100

Award Amount: Dollar amount varies by level of winner  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,450.

Should you place among the top three winners at the competition, whether live or virtual, you may also qualify for a $4,000 matching scholarship to the host institution where you compete. Applicants must apply and meet university requirements, and a matching scholarship must be provided by the host institution. Scholarships will be dispersed over four years of study Application deadlines are three weeks prior to the competition dates. It is best to register early, as space is limited and wait lists fill quickly.
