Application requirements for the Maryland Tuition Reduction for Non-Resident Nursing Students are:

  • Application form
  • Promissory note
Additional Information: Applicants must sign and return a promissory note agreeing to serve as a full-time nurse in a hospital or related institution. Service is for four years if the recipient attended a four-year public institution or for two years if the recipient attended a two-year public institution, regardless of the number of years for which he/she received an award, or he/she must repay the scholarship with interest. If the recipient holds this scholarship with any other award requiring a service obligation, he/she must perform his/her service in consecutive years. Recipients of this program have six months from the date of graduation to begin the service.

Award Amount: Tuition is reduced so that a non-Maryland student pays the tuition charged to a Maryland resident. The award will be automatically renewed for an additional year if the student attends a two-year institution and for an additional three years if the student attends a four-year institution. Renewal is based on satisfactory academic progress and continued enrollment in a nursing program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
