Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards provided varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate student.
  4. Must reside in and must have graduated from a high school in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area (defined as Clay, Jackson, Platte, Johnson and Wyandotte counties).

Additional Information: The Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship Program was established in 1985 with the goal of providing supplemental scholarships to Hispanic students in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area (as defined as Clay, Jackson, Platte, Johnson and Wyandotte counties). Award selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement, unmet financial need, and the student's record of community involvement and service. This scholarship is administered through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF), a local area charity founded in 1978 with the purpose of providing a dedicated and consolidated resource for diverse and otherwise unrelated charity efforts. From its humble beginnings, the scope of the GKCCF has expanded to include the broader regional area, as well as national inititatives, scholarships, and other programs designed to benefit communities across the country.

Award Amount: $500 to $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications and information about the Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship Program are available online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF) website. To be considered for this scholarship, students must submit a completed online application form as well as the following documents and responses to the supplemental questions: a completed educational budget section of the application; an essay of up to 500 words in length addressing the topic on the application; a brief personal statement detailing any unusual circumstances or causes of financial need; and a letter of recommendation from someone who is not related to the applicant. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete submissions will be discarded.
