Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  3. Must plan to enroll or be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credits per semester).
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must major in computer science or international studies.
  7. Must attend or plan to attend Hawai'i Pacific University.
  8. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii undergraduate students who are majoring in computer studies or international studies and attending Hawai'i Pacific University. Students must have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 1995 by donor Dayle O. and Kuniko K. McGaha to provide scholarships to students attending Hawaii Pacific University studying in Computer Science or International Studies. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: $1,166 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,332.

Online application forms are available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation website. The student should visit the Hawai'i Community Foundation's website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed at teh provider's website; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST on the deadline date. A student will not be able to submit his/her application until all required supporting documents are electronically attached to the application.
