Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be African American.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  6. Must be a resident of Baltimore, MD.

Description: This scholarship is available for African American high school seniors in Baltimore, MD who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the Lorenzo Felder Scholarship are:

  • List of work experience and/or community service
  • Official Transcript
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: This award is provided annually in honor of the memory of Lorenzo Felder, a founding member of the ONOSE, a local organization of African American men focused on social endeavors and service to the community. In the spirit of giving back to our younger generation, the ONOSE seek to support the college efforts of a rising scholar. Applicants must be African American, must be attending a high school in Baltimore, MD, and must demonstrate financial need. Selection will be based on academic potential, financial circumstances, the quality of recommendations, and submitted essays.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. When applying for the Lorenzo Felder Scholarship and other CollegeBound Foundation awards that require financial need, students must also submit the following: a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR) or a copy of his/her parents' most recent tax return; a financial aid award letter from the college he/she will attend (the applicant should send a copy of the financial aid award letter as soon as it is received); and a Maryland Higher Education Commission Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
