Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current resident of any of the following cities in New Hampshire: Bradford, Croydon, Goshen, Lempster, Newbury, New London, Newport, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton, Warner, or Wilmot.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time at an accredited postsecondary institution, including vocational/technical schools, trade schools, two- or four-year colleges, or short-term training programs.
  5. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  6. Must be a traditional student who is 17 to 23 years of age.

Additional Information: Preference is given to those students who are attending vocational/technical schools and who have few economic resources. Applicants will be notified of their status by mid-June.

Award Amount: Grants generally range in size from $250 to $1,500 annually, non-renewable. The total amount designated for this program in previous years was $35,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $875.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation (NHCF) website. The student should apply for this award using the NHCF online application. The student need only submit one online application for all scholarships for which he/she is eligible. The student must upload the following supporting documents to the online application: an essay of approximately 500 words describing his/her education and career goals; an electronic copy of the confirmation page of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); the names and email addresses for two persons who can write letters of recommendation on his/her behalf; and an electronic copy of his/her most recent cumulative transcript (unofficial accepted). For this award only, the student is also required to provide information on financial aid packages from schools he/she is considering attending. For this award, the student is also required to submit a copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report), which is provided to the student after his/her FAFSA has been processed. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
