Description: The One Planet Many People Video Contest is available for high school seniors and undergraduate students who are attending college or university in the current calendar year. To apply, applicants must create a short video that details the impact of population growth has on people, communities, and the planet.

Additional Information: The Population Media Center uses a mixture of entertainment, education, and mass media to help bring about positive social and cultural changes. Through a focus on population growth, the rights of women and girls, and the importance of the environment, Population Media Center spreads awareness of key sustainability issues through entertainment and outreach powered by modern media. Winners must certify that their video was made and edited without professional assistance. Students may use some public domain images, audio clips, and/or video clips, but these elements should be balanced with original audio and video media of the student's own production. Judges will put emphasis on video submissions that are original and imaginative in addressing the topic of the contest. Consideration will also be given to proper use of spelling and grammar, as well as coherence and clarity. Any facts or citations referenced must be accurate, relevant, and explained thoroughly. No copyrighted media materials may be used without the owner's express, written permission. Any entries that encourage racial, religious or gender prejudice, exploitation, or any other illegal activities will be disqualified.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Winners will be required to provide a list of sources and an Actor Release Form for every individual who appears in the video.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Contest details and application instructions can be found online at the Population Media Center website using the provided link. To enter this contest, students must create an original video of no more than 60 seconds in length that explores the impact of population growth on neighborhoods, cities, countries, and the planet itself. Videos must include a short title screen that includes the contest title: "One Planet, Many People." All completed videos must be uploaded to Youtube, and must be visible from a publicly available URL. When the video has been uploaded and published, students must complete the online entry form and include a link to the video's Youtube page. All submissions must be received no later than the deadline date.
